Growing up in a small town, River was born into a well-off family of faithful highlanders. Her parents, Becky Liszt and Ross Liszt, the town’s merchants, were very loving and caring. River was often described as curious, thoughtful, and distracted by some of the townsfolk, and loved listening into other people’s affairs. After her town was threatened by raiders when she was 12, River and her family moved to Raevir. Most of her childhood friends also moved out after the raid, and she lost connection with most of them. She found out that Goblins were the one that threatened her home town, and grew a great disdain for them. Her parents took her on a trip to the Kingdom of Norland, and she fell in love with their culture. Her parents also believed that education was extremely important in life, so River was educated well in one of Raevir’s schools. At age 18, after graduating from her education, she pursued a more adventurous life, rather than the boring merchant one that her parents were living. After discussing with her parents, River left and joined a mercenary's guild in Raevir, where she met Daithi Theonus and Astoro Jovanovsk. Two years later River left the guild, and heard of this wonderful land called Arcas. She went back home to spend a year with her parents in Raevir, and finally received their blessing to find a new life in Arcas.
