Roxas was born a human, her mother an unfaithful wife and her father a courageous highlander. Her father, being a highlander, would leave for periods at a time and return with Minas to support the family, and Roxas was curious as to how he would get it. It was usually surplus of minas but her mother would use what was left over after groceries for her own wardrobe. Roxas never understood why so many strangers would come in and out of their house, so in fear she would lock herself up. Because of the neglect from her mother, as she was too focused on the strangers she would let go in to their abode, and the distance of her father, she didn’t have basic communication skill and didn’t even know how to read until she was 7, after she became interested in the history of the world. With her fears and Roxas’ desire for knowledge, due to lack thereof, she would beg her father to go on trips with him. After being denied at every attempt, she decided to simply hide in her father’s rucksack on one journey. It took him the whole day to notice, when finally after settling to confirm his route, he found her. He had already covered a lot of distance and needed to get to his location punctually, so he had no choice but to bring her along. Roxas used this time to prod information about past travels from him, why exactly he needs to travel for these quests, how he would survive, etc. She was taught of the basis of survival, the diversity of species’, and the different parts of the world, which sparked a desire for adventure. However, on that very journey, she witnessed her father kill someone for the Minas he would use to support the family, and she then became determined to become as strong as her father but feared the idea of having to end someone’s life, but this meant she also had to overcome her weak communication skills and become more confident to truly get around the world a little easier. And so she doesn’t wait another minute when she turns 18, to take her saved up Minas that her father would permit her to pocket, her literature, and take her leave into the grand world.
