The child of a Highlander woman and an Uruk warrior, Matuk was born in a small village near Haense. Their neighbours weren’t exactly keen on being in such a close proximity of an orc, but they tolerated him on account of his mother’s position as an accomplished hunter. Matuk never knew his father, as he had disappeared on raid before he was born, but his mother often spoke of him, recounting his adventures and their stories together. Having been raised in a predominantly human society, Matuk’s curiosity regarding his orc lineage only grew as he aged, and when his mother joined a group of travelling traders as a bodyguard, he was eager to accompany her and explore the world. He learned how to fight and wield a sword on the road, often praised for his ferocity in battle, but he realized uneasily that he had a growing desire for bloodshed. His travels eventually brought him to the gates of Krugmar, and despite his mother’s warnings, he snuck into the city at night, his curiosity betraying him. What he thought was going to be a pleasant experience quickly soured as the other orcs noticed that he was an outsider, accusing him of treachery for being so oblivious to their language and culture. Hurt inside and out, Matuk barely escaped the city with his life, and when he went to seek his mother for comfort, his bitter emotions and suppressed bloodlust boiled over, causing him to fling into an uncontrollable rage. Only when Matuk’s sword was red with the traders’ and his mother’s blood did he realize what he had done.
With the guilt of his mother’s death hanging heavily over his head, Matuk now travels Arcas alone, hoping to find a way to atone for his sins, and somehow suppress his bloodlust so he wouldn’t hurt anyone again.
