Elijah was born to a lesser class family. As far as he could remember his family moved from Atlas when his parents where extremely young. Choosing to sail rather than try to go through the ice wall. However they did not have much luck when they arrived. Even settling in The Imperial City of Helena his parents couldn’t find suitable work causing his dad to take up mercenary work to make ends meet. With his dad gone a lot of his life Elijah grew up without much discipline and was a handful for his poor mother who tried her best to keep things together with his dad gone all the time. Then the news came, a protection job gone bad, his dad was dead. Life was a blur after that. Within weeks his mom drank herself to death and Elijah was on the streets all alone. Begging for food in the markets or stealing from stalls when people were not generous. Both tended to earn him at least one beating a day. And the constant stares of hundreds of people a day looking at him in disgust or pity left him scarred.
This however didn't last long. After only a few short weeks of starving and begging for scraps a man came top Elijah and offered him food and a place to stay. This man was Gregori King, and he changed Elijah’s life. Gregori was a well off man with a sizable adopted family, which he took in from those he felt were cheated by life and society. He schooled Elijah in proper edict, history, and discipline. Changing him from a lost child to a knowledgeable man. When Elijah reached adulthood Gregori gave him a small sum of money and told him to live a bit but always remember their family. With the money Elijah hopped on the first boat to anywhere he could find and ended up in some small town on the southern islands of Arcas. The town was ruled by a ‘lord’ who was nothing more than a man who got the people to think he could keep them safe. It was here Elijah met Sasha. A beautiful young girl who had spent her who life on these islands and nothing else. After joining the Lords small army for an income Elijah spent his time courting Sasha who eventually married him.
They lived together for two years happily. Then Elijah got sent out to a neighboring island. Apparently some pirates were expected to make an attack on the town in a few days and they were sighted around this island. They landed on the opposite side and Elijah led, scouting through the think jungle canopy but when they got to the other side there were no pirates to be seen. They hurried home to find much of it in ruins. The pirates had attacked early, taking what they wanted and destroying anything else. Elijah ran to his and Sasha’s house to find it burnt and his wife dead. With nothing left the remaining people took boats to various cities. And Elijah looked for a new place where he might begin to get his life together. Somewhere quiet and simple like Rubern where your hard work pays for itself. If only it was still around. But first stop, The Cloud Temple.
