What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Alchemy (Base)

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Alchemy is the art of mixing together the signs and symbols that make up everything in the world, to achieve a result some may call magic.

Signs include: Mundane (Often times left out in recipes that require mundane symbols), Aether, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. Each of these have their own method of being extracted from the various reagents around aevos.

Accompanying these signs would be symbols. These symbols are represented in usually this format: symbol (xAmount) (For example: (Purity x3)). These can be extracted from different herbs and materials around aevos, except these do not require a specific extraction method. They just are required to be extracted via one of the various extraction methods AS LONG as the sign corresponds with the extraction method the alchemist chooses. An alchemist may instead decide to perform the mundane extraction method of these symbols if they prefer them to remain mundane instead of their corresponding sign dependent on what you are extracting from.

Alchemists usually write a formula for what signs are attached to the symbols within a herb. This formula is written usually in this format: Sign | Symbol (xQuantity).

And example of this formula within a herb would be Bitter Reed, which would include its signs and symbols in this fashion:
    Earth | Reduction (x2)

    Earth | Purity (x2)

    Earth | Impediment (x1)

Breaking it down you have the sign; Earth, and its corresponding signs; Reduction, Purity, and Impediment. If one was to want to extract these symbols whilst keeping the earth sign, they would have to perform the earth extraction.

A summary of the earth extraction would be: The alchemist would somehow cut, crush, or grind the reagents, before putting it into a mortar and pestle with half of the ingredients ratio of salt. Afterwards, the alchemist would grind it into a powder, before sieving the powder to seperate the salt from the symbols.

The way I think of potions is that they have 3 key parts to making one. These would be the base, the signs and symbols, and the processing. Most potions start with a base, which could include aqua vitae, lard, lifeblood, etc. Of course you would make sure you have the signs and symbols, and then you would start the process. For most potions, the process includes putting your base in a pot, adding your reagents, and then simply mixing the mixture until the desired results come into play. Though the process may differ depending on the potion (Example, a blasting potion requires a roll or else it can explode in your face).

Some redlines for base alchemy include:
-You cannot make more than 3 potions a day

-All potions require an accepted Feat Application by the creator to be able to be considered Valid

    - All potion usage requires [3] emotes to use. This includes 1- Drawing the potion, 2- Priming the potion (Shaking, adding primer, etc.), and 3- Throwing/consuming the potion.

-All further alchemy (Animatii, Tawkins, Smoggers, etc.) requires the alchemist to be Tier 3 in base alchemy to be able to learn.
-Alchemy may be taught by a teacher with a valid TA, or through the two methods of "Self Teaching"

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

There are a HEFTY amount of recipes for base alchemy. I will not be able to go over every section recipes so I will include my 2 most favorite non base alchemy groups.

Those groups include: Confectionary alchemy, and warforging

Confectionary alchemy is a very whimsical group of recipes that all are based around the ingredient it provides; Alchemist Sugar. Alchemist sugar is an ingredient that consists of aqua vitae, liquid mana, sugar, the swiftness symbol, and egg whites. It is a very addictive ingredient which causes someone to have heightened energy or a sluggish demeanor, akin to a real life sugar high. Next you have Essence of Freefall. A potion that when consumed, causes an individual to slowly float as if gravity has been turned off for them. Upon moving, the user would begin to slowfall toward the ground, so as long as the fall wouldn't normally be deadly. The last potion is called Filling Fixens which simply makes someone feel like they are full, as if just finishing a large meal, without a large amount of food consumed.

Warforging is a group of dwarven recipes meant to be applied to weapons to give mere aesthetic effects. This group is considered rare knowledge and has to be taught to someone IRPly in order to be able to create these potions. The group would include a total of 5 recipes. This includes: Storm-forging, Ice-forging, Lava-forging, Star-forging, and Light-forging. Each of these give mere aesthetic effects to a weapon that provide no combat advantage at all. Each one of these can be made by any T2 or above alchemist so as long they have learned the recipes irply. Each one serves different effects based on their elements specified within the name.

Outside of normal alchemy there are 3 currently active "Further Alchemy" which each require a seperate FA and TA apart from alchemy. All 3 require and alchemist to be T3 to learn. These include Animatii, Tawkins, and Smoggers.

Animatii is essentially the creation of clockwork devices to allow for different prosthetics, companions, and even full working constructs called animii or mostly known as "Automatons"

Smoggers is a much less efficient version of animatii, requiring red oil to run the machines built. Though less efficient, these machines can go farther than what a typical animii can do. A very famous example of inventions made through smoggers are the walking buildings seen around the desert.

Tawkins is a very unique feat in further alchemy that essentially allows you to mold flesh as if it was akin to clay. THis can allow for mutations and even full on tawkins clones.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

Since there are not "spells" within alchemy, I will do a series of 3 emotes of my character Gnarla'Vukh throwing a Will'o'Bottle at someone.

Gnarla'Vukh reaches into her bag after noticing the hostility the bandit shown. She seems to dig around, until she produces a bottle of an orange bubbly liquid. "I would stay back if I were you! I've got tools in this bag that you don't want used against you!" She warned the man.

     *Man charges Gnarla*

"Last chance! I'm warning you!" she screamed as she then shook the bottle up and down. The liquid inside of the bottle aggravating and seeming to start expanding within the bottle. The cork at the top of it seeming to shake as well as it almost cannot hold the pressure within the bottle.

    *man continues charging*

Gnarla'Vukh swings her arm overhead like she is throwing a baseball, aiming the bottle for the bandit's center mass. Upon impact, if it hits, the bottle would shatter upon the man's chest, releasing a small bunch of chemical flame around the mans torso. The fire would catch any flammable material upon the mans torso on fire and continue to burn until the fire was either put out, or all flammable material that is burning is completely gone.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

For understanding purposes the student will just be called "Student" and my character will be named Gnarla who would of course be the teacher.

"Alright student, so we are going to learn the water extraction method. The materials you are going to need to gather before hand is your herb that you will be extracting (in this case your aqua nymph), a container filled with distilled water, a knife, a small stone or hammer, and a dish to set your finished product on. Gather those then follow along with me" Gnarla would then gather those such materials, placing them all on the counter in front of her.

    *Student does so as instructed

"Alright so we are going to take your aqua nymph and place it into the distilled water. Allowing it to sit for a few minutes." Gnarla would do so, placing the aqua nymph into the pot with distilled water. "Then once it is very soft and fully soaked, we take it out and we start crushing it with the hammer or in my case, stone." She'd then await her student to do the same.

    *Student follows along

"Good good" After a few minutes pass the reagent is ready. "Now follow along with me, tell me if im going to fast" Gnarla would use her hand to pull the soaked herb out of the pot, place it atop the counter, and begin crushing the herb with her stone.

    *Student follows along once more

"Perfect, once its crushed, I usually like to take the knife and finely chop it until its a nice thick mush." Gnarla does so, taking the knife, and chopping away at the mushy herb until it is a heavy mush. She then places it onto the aforementioned plate. "Once you've done that, put it onto your plate, and then we must wait a (IRP) day for the water to evaporate."

*student once more copies what Gnarla is doing

Once an irp day has passed, Gnarla and her student would return to notice their reagents have been dried! Gnarla moves to her respective plate and starts instructing once more "Alright, the last thing we have to do is simply seperate all the symbols from the mixture using your tweezers." she grabbed her tweezers and did so, pulling away at the powder that was left piece by piece until each symbol was organized in this order: Grace (x2), Endurance (x2), Freezing (x2), and Order (x1). "Then you are ready to use the reagants in a potion!" she said after finishing

    *Student follows Gnarla's instructions

"Good Good! Now before we finish, let's review real quick... Can you tell me the way we put sign and symbol formulas on paper?" Gnarla asked pulling out a piece of paper and a quill for the student to write if they so desured. They seemed to also have the option of verbally answering.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

During teaching, if my student powergames and it doesn't seem like a malicious form of powergaming, I would make sure to correct it before they got out of the lesson and make it clear to them that whatever they powergamed is not meant to be roleplayed that way. If they continue powergaming, or it seems malicious, I'd give them one (more) chance to correct it by telling them what they are powergaming, and how it is supposed to be roleplayed. After that if it's continuing to be an issue, I'll simply drop my student off of my TA and warn them that if they continue their powergaming, especially outside of a teaching scenariom that a staff member would eventually get involved.

If they powergame after any of my teaching and I am around them when it happens. I'll make sure to contact them oocly and tell them that what they are doing is powergaming, what they are doing wrong, and how i recommend it being roleplayed. Ensuring that the victim of the powergaming (If it's something to do with combat) knows that I'm teaching them and to be somewhat patient as I am correcting it. If the student continues, I will follow similar steps as mentioned before, giving them one chance if its malicious, or giving them a second chance if it doesnt seem malicious. If it continues after that, I woul drop them from my TA and inform them once more that theyre powergaming and if they keep doing it then staff would be contacted.

In the case a student powergames ingredients or potions (Not getting rid of herbs after they are used, making potions above their tier, not rping their potion making, etc.) I'd make sure that the powergamed items would be gotten rid of (Herbs used being burnt in a fire mechanically, burning the potion they powergamed, etc.).

             Edvard Kervallen

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Atronachs are sentient elemental beings brought into the world through the fusion of voidal magics. The magics needed to make an Atronach are Evocation and Transfiguration. Atronachs are created through a process called ‘Atronach Forging” in which the creator collects materials to fashion the frame of the construct. The most important part in the creation of an atronach is the forging of the core. The core is what gives the being sentience, The core itself is made from a mana gem, encased in acranum or magegold, which is then enchanted to grant it the sentience. The core must then be enchanted with the chosen element through transfiguration. The other pieces of an atronach include plating, typically made from metal and/or stone. This is crucial for specifically liquid atronachs to ensure their form stays contained and intact.

An atronachs core requires an immense amount of mana to sustain itself. Therefore during the course of its life.. An atronach must return to its obelisk once per OOC week to recharge its core. This can be forgoed if the atronach can find a master transfiguration mage otherwise able to recharge the core themself. This is typically done by the creator themself.

Atronachs are able to be made with specific elements in mind.. Each elemental being sporting their own strengths and weaknesses. “Flicker” (the atronach i will be playing) is a fire atronach… able to expel flames in combat as well as overheat themself. Though this comes with the added weakness of water and ice. Any water or ice used on the fire atronach would potentially douse the flames that make up its body, possibly rendering it incapacitated. Though fire atronachs have this weakness, they still share the same weakness to Fi magic, alteration, and abjuration magic.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

Fire atronachs are humanoid constructs encased in typically metal plating and fire radiating from within. Flicker has Ferrum plating amongst its form. The fire that burns within it and its core are of a pink hue. It stands at 7 feet tall and has a slender looking form. Though slender, when grounded, Flicker weighs at a surprising 250 lbs. It has a flaming ponytail on the back of its head which hangs down to her shoulders at most.

    Announcement of Banishment

Recent efforts to allow Bug, the whitewashed uruk, to redeem hismelf through a series of trials have not emerged fruitful. Bug has shown he is incapable of honor and thus will not be given the option of redemption.. Any and all who encounter Bug are to capture and bring him forth to the horde. His actions and dishonor to Krug himself will not go unpunished.

Vukh clan wargoth Gundanat, Haeilie Mirhana (honorary in trial), Ay Cohi (Honorary in trial), agh Founder of Lurin Mika Anarion were present to witness Bug attempting to sow chaos within Lurin, spreading lies amongst the Lurinite people, attempting to tarnish what is a healthy alliance between the Iron Horde agh Lurin. Gundanat’Vukh, Haeilie Mirhana, agh Ay Cohi all witnessed Bug telling me, Gnarla, the he chooses to never return to Krugmar agh that he wishes to abandon his trials to clear his tarnished name. Bug also accused me, Gnarla, of being a darkspawn, in which I conducted my own darkspawn test on myself, with multiple witnesses about. The salt used to test my blood was then verified to be actual salt after no reaction to both tests happened. It was then when Mika stepped in, ordered the group of us to head near the Lurinite klomping pit, and attempt to solve the dispute. It was revealed that Bug had kept his dishonorable past a secret to the Lurinite citizens. It was then an honor klomp was requested by myself.

It was then that I slayed Bug in this klomp, taking his head as proof for the horde of his death. His body was incinerated, hoping to cleanse the world of his dishonor.

Bug has been known to come back from these deaths, and so he has once again. Squee, clanless goblin of the Iron Horde, and I, Gnarla, both witnessed whilst on an exploration in search of herbs, Bug sprint into the gates of Celia’nor. No news has come out to my knowledge of what happened after, but one can only assume, Bug is not dead.

Let this missive serve as a message and an official warning of the banishment of Bug from the Iron Horde, as well as all of the deserts blessed by Krug. Any and all who encounter Bug are to bring him back to the Horde ALIVE for him to face punishment.

Another dishonorable orc has seemed to emerge from our investigations. For breaking the urukhim codes of:

    MAARUBH’U ILZGÛLU

Code Dub: Greater than any other weakness of faith, practicing bûrz’mojo such as Dark Shamanism, Necromancy disgusts the Spirits and violates the will of KRUG.

    MAARUBH’U HÛR

Code H’: Knowingly evading the consequences for one's actions, whether defeat or violation of the codes, is cowardice; One should accept their punishment.

The orc known as ‘Bug’ shall be considered whitewashed. Those who seek to hunt this individual are to be cautious upon approaching as the individual is a known Vampyre

Bug was tested with an aurum needle which passed the darkspawn test, then was administered salt on his wound, to which his grizh started boiling. He was then subdued by the urukhim of Krug, and taken into custody for cleansing of his vampiric curse. Bug then refused to be cured and attempted to attack a fellow urukhim in which resulted in his inevitable death.

Also! Due to my own mistake on the last whitewash announcement in not identifying what the crimes ‘Krognag’ has committed, I will list them here!

    MAARUBH’U KRUG-HAI

Code Futh: To raid or attack the allies of Krugmar is to violate the will of KRUG.

It is my duty to ensure not only the codes of Krug are followed… But to inform everyone of when they are broken. From here on out, I will continue to provide the codes that are broken by the whitewashed, as well as update everyone on what actions were taken.

Their spirit be broken, and their lives lived in fear.

    Ang Gijak-Ishi,

Gnarla’Vukh, Krimpgoth Of The Iron Horde.

    Krimpgoth Announcement

As the newly appointed Krimpgoth of the Iron Horde. I will ensure that all orcs within the horde follow the standards set by our spirits and by Krug himself. Any who dishonor the orcish grizh will have to answer to me and my fellow krimphai.

    Honoraries

Honoraries have served to be an important part of the horde. As it stands, these honoraries are to be recognized as urukhim until otherwise stated.

The only current honoraries in the horde are:

    -Minto'Lur

    -Obok'Ugluk

    -Slith'Ungri

    -Sally'Yar

    Whitewashes

These specific orcs have shown that they do not honor the urukhim way and shall be hunted until they learn to change their ways.

    Current official whitewashes include:

    -’Yrmsik Fiyem’ of Kaethul

    -'Krognag' of (possibly) Petra

Both of these lists will be updated as needed and posted on the notice board within Krugmar.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Sprites are a small humanoid race never exceeding about ten inches in height. Typically small statured, they often have a mischievous way of conducting themselves, despite being relatively peaceful. Often times sprites are known to engage in bargains with alchemists and others form similar professions for their reagents to use in various solutions. The reagents a sprite depend on their subtype. These subtypes are; Nightfall Domain, Dayward Lands, and Twilight domain. Ginko is a sprite hailing fromm the Nightdall domain which makes them able to secrete 4 different types of reagents via their tears. Those reagents are; Death, Dark, Poison, and Silence.

    Redlines of Reagents include:
-ST member needs to oversee the gathering of reagents.
-May only produce reagents once per OOC week
-There has to be a bargain involved with the giving of reagents

Sprites originate from the eternal forest and are drawn to the mortal world through an event that happens on a full moon called "The Slipping". The Sprites physical form dies in the eternal forest and their spirit arrives in the mortal realm, taking the form of what we know as sprites via various natural materials such as bugs and plants. The true defining feature that is shared amongst all sprites is the set of wings on their back. Any other feature on the sprites body are almost always different from one another.

    Redlines on this:
-Flying can only go up to 5 metres/blocks high

-Flight cant be used to override in game mechanics. (no flying over something if you mechanically cant get over it)
-any extra features are purely aesthetical and non combative.

Sprites are very vulnerable to any dark and voidal magics used on them, causing immense pain and more than likely killing them. They also are extremely vulnerable to blight. Once a sprite is infected with a blight, it will spread all throughout their body the same way it does plants. Once the blight reaches their core, they typically die after 3 days (3 OOC hours). Fire is another weakness to sprites. Just as plants burn quite easily, sprites are very susceptible to being lit aflame and typically burn up extremely quick.

Sprites struggle with verbal communication, so as an alternative, sprites are able to commune with descendants via touch. Though this does cause strain on the descendant via migraines. Sprites can also commune with the natural expanse around them within a limited range through thoughts, feelings, and visual images. Lastly a sprite has its own self defense mechanism, toxin. This toxin can be released by the sprite to surround themselves in a three block radius with a dizzying effect. This is mainly used so the sprite can flee. This ability though does put strain on the sprite themselves.

    Some Redlines for these abilities:

    Communion Voicing

-Communion voicing requires two emotes to convey whatever message to the descendant

-This can't be used to distract or impair the descendant in any way shape or form
-The sprite needs to be touching the descendant to convey anything

    Natures Communion

-You cannot move any plants or animals with this ability

-This only affects a 15 block radius around the sprite

    Toxin

-Two emotes are required to release your toxin

-Does not hurt or knock people out

    - Requires emoting strain to successfully release toxin

    Redlines not covered:
-Sprites cant remember their death after reincarnating
-Sprites cant learn a full language.
    -Cannot form complex sentences
-Sprites are of a small stature, so they cannot wield any big weapons (Weapons the size of a descendant).

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

Gink boasts a captivating combination of Dark Brown, Black, and Green hues that define their unique appearance. Standing at a height of approximately 8 inches, Gink is adorned with an intricate ensemble of decomposed beetle carapaces that adorn their form. Roots elegantly cascade down their arms and legs, resembling the lifeless serpent's stalks that once thrived. The focal point of Gink's countenance lies in their eyes and the inner recesses of their mouth, radiating a mesmerizing jade green glow. A mysterious substance, reminiscent of a thinned-out version of night sap, drips from their eyes and mouth, adding an aura of enchantment to their presence. Upon meticulous inspection, it becomes evident that this substance is, indeed, a diluted form of night sap, weaving an ethereal narrative into Gink's existence. Perched atop Gink's head is a singular dead leaf, skillfully arranged to mimic the aesthetic of a descendant's comb-over haircut. This quirky detail adds a touch of whimsy to Gink's overall appearance.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Sprites or Pixies, a diminutive race not exceeding ten inches in height, embody a paradox of small stature and mischievous disposition. Despite their relatively peaceful nature, they often engage in bargaining with alchemists or passersby, creating mischief for locals or playing pranks without causing harm. Originating from the Eternal Forest, some sprites are drawn into the Mortal Realm through a phenomenon known as "the Slipping," occurring exclusively during the full moon. Upon crossing realms, their bodies take form from nearby flora or insects, establishing a core to house the Floral Echo. The defining feature shared by all sprites or pixies is the prominent wings adorning their backs, while additional features from their floral or insectoid bodies hold no combat advantages.

Distinctive characteristics emerge based on the Domain within the Eternal Forest where sprites reside, categorizing them into the Nightfall Domain, Dayward Lands, or Twilight Domain. Each sprite pays reverence to the figure associated with their respective domain. For instance, Tio, hailing from the Dayward Lands, aligns with Life and Lady Cerridwen, aspiring to redeem himself and return to his origin. Redemption endeavors vary across domains, with the Dayward Lands focusing on aiding flora and fauna, bringing joy to life, and rescuing animals, much to the dismay of farmers. Their existence revolves around Life, Harmony, and Balance.

While sprites struggle with verbal communication, excelling in communion with the natural world and nearby kin within a 15-block radius, they can resort to physical touch for more significant communication (2 emotes). However, prolonged exposure may cause discomfort or migraines for descendants. Flight, although primarily aesthetic, holds no real combat or mechanical advantage, with a limited range of 5 blocks. In dire situations, sprites can release a toxin within a 3-block radius, inducing overwhelm and a dizzying spell for those exposed (requiring 2 emotes to activate). Descendants with good intentions and fulfilled bargains receive alchemical reagents unique to each domain (e.g., Pixie Dust), subject to a 1-week cooldown and oversight by an ST Staff member.

Voidal and Dark magic pose a significant threat to sprites, causing them great pain. They are susceptible to blight, requiring blight healing if affected. In the event of death due to interaction, sprites reincarnate, losing memories associated with their demise and undergoing subtle changes with each rebirth.

  14. It's been a real fat minute since I have played so I'll keep my opinions brief.

It saddens me wanting to come back and seeing the toxicity still an issue within the community. LOTC has become more of a popularity and who knows who contest more than it has been a good accepting community. I was driven away by this sort of same scenario back in 2021 and was scared to come back due to this sort of conflict happening.

This seems like a very non player-oriented decision and more of a "End it and forget it" solution. I am not knowledgeable of the topic really to go more into an opinion on it but with my many staff interactions, it seems nothing has changed from the past.

Nonetheless though hopefully this is an eye opener to staff team to make some changes. I've had a love for this community since i joined back in July of 2020 but this toxic closed community stuff really drives a lot of people away. Especially when it becomes a server wide issue.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Epiphytes are creatures that were once  descendants who were transformed into beings made of plant matter. The Descendant is drawn toward a Fae plant, and eventually is lured to fall asleep next to it. The plant would then cover the descendant and rematerialise the descendants  body into a more plant-like matter. The descendant keeps its original facial structure and personality but also resemble the plant that transformed them in different ways such as leafy and colorful hair, stem like skin resembling the stem or bark of the plant that transformed them. The Epiphyte experience a deep psychological and magical connection to the specific plant that transformed them, creating such a strong bond that they feel one another’s pain. This leads to the epiphyte having a strong urge to defend their plant despite the circumstances around themselves.

An epiphyte can communicate with it’s connected plant. Similar to the communion a Druid can do except the epiphyte can only speak to its own plant specifically.  Epiphytes can also create seeds of their plant’s species. They’re simply normal seeds one would find in their everyday life. They can create one single seed of their plant that has any fae like properties. Though this seed can grow a fae version of their connected plant, this does cause the first one to die and the new one planted to become the new connected plant. Epiphytes cannot learn any type of voidal magic, as it would be too dangerous and may sever the connection to them and their plant. They can not regrow limbs if they were to be cut off. Though every 50-100 IRP years they can be reborn from their plant, taking about an IRP year to grow back to their adult form fully. During this time, they are considered a child, and are unable to cast any sort of magic they might’ve learned beforehand.

    Redlines

-Anything a Fae plant feels, the Epiphyte would feel, same goes for the other way around.

-An Epiphyte cannot learn of their death from their Fae plant.

-An Epiphyte can’t have children, their only ‘children’ are the ones that come after the rebirth process.

-A Bonsai Epiphyte is treated like a child character. No fading to black or learning any magic.

-Becoming an Epiphyte doesn’t remove the curses the original form had

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

An epiphyte would resemble themselves before their transformation, though having a huge resemblance to their specific plant. This could include having bark attached to some parts of skin, their hair being a leafy or petal like feel with the same color as their plant, and even a shift in their skin tone. Whatever the case may be, they always have some resemblance to the plant that transformed them.

my specific Epiphyte will have traits similar to a maple bonsai in the autumn.
