Haense was not unaffected by the wars as it still had some of the people living in poverty. Marquis was as such as he was born into a family of a sailor and the daughter of a lumberjack. Through out his life he was instructed to always be thankful for what he had and to help those in need when he could. His father provided money by helping run trade runs to Haense during the wars and received enough to get them by. Marquis learnt from his mother on behaviors and niceties and received a decent education from her. She also taught him about the Eighteen years war and the terror it caused among Dwarves and Humans. His father taught him of great tall tales of grand adventurers and the glory that they carried with them. He told stories about the dwarves of Urguan and their strange weapons intriguing the young Marquis. His mother taught him how to live in the hinterlands. He didn’t have many friends while growing up and the few he did have left to fight in the Holy Orenian Empire. He decided one day he would leave to join them. His father had a passion for singing and bestowed that passion upon Marquis so they could sing to their lovely audience (His mother). When Marquis got older he decided to explore and find his own songs and glory. With much sorrow, his mother packed together a few items to help him get started: an old set of armor, a slightly dull short sword , a trusty fiddle and a backpack with some pocket change. After his goodbyes to his parents he sets out! To write his own destiny.
