Faene was born in the Old Town district of Sutica. Despite his mother was always too busy to ever take care of him and his father had disappeared years before his birth, Faene was by no means an unhappy child. He spent many hours in his home library, tucked comfortably in whatever small space he could fit, and read as much as he could before his eyes became too strained. He avidly read his people’s history with enthusiasm some called unnatural or strange. Instead of playing, he sat in the corner and read retellings of the Forgotten Folk and Iblees’ War and never once moved until a caretaker dragged him inside. As he grew and matured, Faene soon came to realize that he could not, in fact, stay isolated forever. If he wanted to learn as much as he possibly could, he would have to form relationships. It was around this time at the young age of fourteen that he realized that he had no interest, sexually or romantically, in women. The older he grew, the more convinced he became that he simply wasn’t meant to travel. In the span of only a few Elven Weeks, he’d nearly been robbed blind of everything he owned by wayward bandits and been somehow framed for stealing a donkey.
These experiences only furthered his desire to life far away from any from of civilization, but Faene persisted in his quest for knowledge. Along the way, he acquired a sturdy leather satchel that carried all his books, notes, and gold that he could possibly need on his travels. Somehow, Faene did end up becoming very close acquaintances with a handful of humans who were willing to protect him for some coin. He still hasn’t found what he’s looking for, but even he is unsure now whether or not he was searching for anything at all.
