Iston was born an only child deep in the woodlands of a distant land. His parents raised him in a small band of elves distanced from civilization. His mother was a native wood elf, while his father was an outcast high elf. At the age of 4, his village was struck by disease. Being so disconnected from civilization, his village was unable to receive medical supplies in a timely manner. His parents were poor, and were only able to negotiate with the forest dwarf traders that brought the supplies for enough medicine to save their son. When they died soon afterwards and were unable to pay their end of the bargain, the traders were unable to accept the loss of business, and took in the young elf as payment for the medicine. They became his caretakers, and treated him well initially, but when business got bad, they would turn to Iston as a source of labor and as a means to carry out less-than-acceptable tasks in order to get by. Over the years, His adoptive parents turned from loving caretakers to cold, abusive, and inconsiderate monsters. Iston was forced to do unspeakable things and was beaten nearly to death if he tried to refuse. At the age of 16, Iston ran away from home to try and brave the world on his own. It was a hard adjustment learning life from scratch with no guidance, but after some years Iston decided that he was ready to take the next step. Iston had heard over the years about a recently discovered land called Arcas and was swept away by thoughts of starting fresh in a new land. This is where the story begins, as Iston relocates to Arcas to begin his new life. Iston has heard great things about Irrinor and is hoping that he can find a better way of life learning from the Wood elves found there.
