Castien was born in the city of Renelia. His parents were distant from him and seemed to not care about him or his upbringing. Due to this, he tried everything in his power to impress them. Being an only child he was mostly alone for his younger years, as he also struggled to make friends due to his arrogant personality. For his education, he learned most things from books he read in the library. When he was 17 he decided to move away from his parents to the city of Darrowmere. There he hoped to start over and build a new life, however his distasteful personality followed. He was able to make a singular friend but eventually his unwillingness to not open up drove them away. When the tragedy of Arcas struck he struggled to escape. However, he was able to board Talon's Grotto World Ship. There he met a human named Lucy, who he seemed to get along with.
