Kalen was born in the village of 'Kjøpstad’ to her parents, Kristian and Ellen. She lived rather north but was extremely comfortable in her position. Her parents were, respectively, a fisherman and a doctor who often indulged the small child in her curiosities. She learned fishing from a rather early age from her father, who would often be incessantly pestered with requests to join him from his daughter. Nonetheless, he enjoyed spending time with his daughter, teaching her the ropes of the fishing art. However, her mother erred to caution when Kalen asked her to teach her medicine, only teaching minor amounts of first-aid, leaving Kalen having to learn more in her later years. She had a fairly able education, her mother teaching the girl much of what she needed to know in a medically-focused learning. She learned the uses of Blissfoil and Tippens Root, while only learning minor bits of information about other sources like Iblees and how he cursed Horen, Urguan, Malin, and Krug.
Nonetheless, as she grew, her medical training began in earnest when she reached the age of fifteen. At the age of twenty-four, her training was deemed completed and the woman was given the telling that she was competent enough to be able to stitch up wounds and treat, though it was clear she was nowhere close to mastery over the subject. Kalen also learned about Canonism from the local priest, who connected her culturally with other people in Kjøpstad.
However… Kalen soon began to grow bored of her position in Kjøpstad and went to join Lucius Fabius in his legion. She was curious as to their existence and wished to see if she could ultimately bring some civilizing force to the militaristic group.
The woman would blink in confusion as the well-dressed gentleman approached her, before saying, “H-hey… I’m here to just find a group called the A-alerian Legion?”. She’d move to extend a hand to the gentleman in some bit of nervousness as this stranger approached. The woman had heard stories of banditry, but the fortifications of this city slightly put her at ease. As a result, she provided a small smile to the man.
