Raised in a long-forgotten kingdom, Søren Kaldigaard is the son of the King's bastard, Kaldin Jørgensen. His father waged a thousand wars for the King throughout his life. Søren was raised to follow in his footsteps and conquer a thousand more lands, but his entire future was ripped from beneath him when the King was assassinated. Followers of Iblees planted seeds within the court and the courtiers decided their King no longer followed the true path. Their empire fell with the Destruction of Aegis and Søren was the only citizen he knew to have fled to The Verge.
Taking with him battle strategies, weapon's knowledge, and his mother's scarf, Søren spent his next three birthdays wandering the minor realms. As a young boy, Søren was cared for by the Mori’Quessir and spent many months restoring the ancient temples throughout their lands. As he grew older, he fought under many Kings and Queens and earned a name that would follow him into adulthood. Prinkitti. Lost Prince. Ironically, it is in the language of his conquerers, the Followers of Iblees.
Only a few weeks after his thirteenth birthday, Søren was taken into the home of a young couple and their children just outside of Sutica's capitol city. He worked with the Father on projects and served as his guard on trade missions, but Søren was treated like one of their own. While they teased him for being so charming as a child, he knew it was simply Sutican nature to be accepting and welcoming to strangers. Søren was an adored presence by their two other children, Cirilla and Arabella, as well. He was actually betrothed to Cirilla when they were young.
Søren was always encouraged to practice his natural religion by his found-family. While they worshipped monotheistically, Søren found solace with the Gods of his conquerers. In a way, he felt that devotion to them would grant him peace in the After. His countrymen had no religion of their own, after all. This was never a problem, even within the city, as Sutica is a melting pot of cultures.
These were complicated gods, and boys of eighteen would leave home and embark of a journey of self-discovery to ground them and grant them safe passage to the After when it was their time. So, when Søren turned eighteen, he bid farewell to his promised wife and his family. Two years on, he's found himself longing for battle and purpose once more.
