It all started with her mother and father, her father being a common wood elf and her mother being orc, who had been chased away from her city by her own peers at a young age after being deemed 'too weak' to stay and continued living far from the deserts, deep in the woods for many many years. They fell in love after a meeting of pure chance and fate, otherwise known as her father falling into a net trap her mother had planned to use for any large animals it could catch. He had managed to talk her out of murdering him with his charm and impossibility great persuasion skills, and she had taken an unexplainable liking to him to the point where she'd demand him to return and visit every now and then. Her parents had learned to live together in relative harmony, despite their often times contradicting and vastly different beliefs and practices. And although they had their falling outs, or had their heads butt over the simplest of arguments, they had somehow gotten along, falling and staying in love for quite some time. Eventually, her father would leave his city, opting instead to elope with the orc. They would settle deeper into the forest and conceive Kera shortly after. Her father and mother would take turns taking care of the home, teaching and caring for the child and foraging and hunting their own food. She would grow to learn woodworking and literature from her father when it was his turn to watch over the home and child, and her mother would train with her in combat and battle tactics every time it was her turn. Overall they all seemed to support eachother at every misfortune and every natural disaster. One day when she was seven, on a particularly stormy night, the nearby lake had flooded, causing her to be swept away by the strongly rushing waters. Her mother and father had tried to reach out to save her, but had failed and drowned as a result. She would continue to bob down the streams until she managed to wash up on some faraway riverbanks. She continued to roam the lands, as she did, one encounter with some particularly cruel bandits taught her to hide and keep herself as discrete and unnoticed as she could for her own wellbeing. She did this in a multitude of ways, but the one she favoured most was to use a deep red cloak as not to stand out too much in a crowd. On her travels, she met Beowulf, a fellow orphan at the similar age of 9. They immediately grew a close bond, growing to appreciate and enjoy eachothers company, seeing it as a comfort to know that they truly weren't alone in such a cruel and seemingly heartless world. They were practically inseparable, always having eachothers' backs as they grew up together. Beowulf taught her the things she had learned overtime as an orphan, and in return Kera would recount stories and carve her toys with the words of her parents echoing each word and motion, full of love and care that she had wanted to share with Beowulf. She would train her muscles, growing stronger and stronger as she vowed to protect herself and Beowulf with all the strength she were to build. It was almost possible to say that Beowulf was the only thing keeping her from just lying down and letting herself be consumed back into the soil like her parents. When the meteors came raining down, she and her Beowulf would stow way on a particularly poorly protected boat in a supply crate, making a promise to eachother about always protecting and looking out for eachother with every step of the way as they made their way to the new and unfamiliar land ahead. And so, she and her companion had roamed the lands and learned it's new geography, as the balanced influences of the cruel lands around her, the old memories of her long gone childhood home and the kindness of her only true friend moulded and shaped her into the woman she is currently.
