Devoren was born in the Imperial City of Helena. He was born to a mother, who was a tutor, and his father, who was a wealthy silks merchant. Devoren was born into wealth, and became friends with a neighboring boy, Lisindor. He and Lisindor weren't fans of their wealthy upbringing, and wanted to see the world. They explored the reaches and bounds of their city, sometimes even surpassing it, to the lands beyond. At the age of 14, they found themselves exploring in more dangerous, and daring manners. While climbing a building scaffolding on the outskirts of Helenor, near the port, Devoren found himself with a misplaced step, causing an upper structural collapse. Lisindor and Devoren fell quite a length, tumbling into the body of water at the lakeside. Members of the Imperial State Army were able to pull Devoren out, however, Lisindor had less luck. Devoren blamed the accident on his upbringing, his surroundings, the Empire, and himself. He left providence at the age of 18, wandering the land, finding himself on a small settlement on the outskirts of Varhelm. He found work on the farmlands, often offering his help to older couples that owned farmland. He felt good about volunteering his time, that he didn't care if he found himself stealing small possessions. Small coinbags, things that no one would miss. He continues to wander the lands of Almaris, but surely his sticky fingers, or his inability to move past his past, will bring him disdain someday.
