    What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Air Evocation

     

    Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

             

    Air evocation is the voidal art of conjuring wind from the void. In order to achieve that the mage in question will have to fully understand the properties of real air and all it's forms that it exists, to the extend that they can visualise each and everyone of them with ease. After that's achieved the mage will have to use their mana to conjure their visualisation straight from the void itself into the material world. That also means that an air evocationist has the ability to manipulate only the air that he's conjured from the void and not the one that exists in the material world.

     

    Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

             

    Air evocation is, in some cases, composed by yet another element, that being sound. Sound itself is the outcome of large amounts of air compressed together and it's effect can be from a mere whistle to a deafening buzz. As it's an element of air that comes along with it's initial understanding, the mage, similarly to how they pull the visualised air from the void they'll have to pull the thought of the sound to accompany it aswell.

     

    Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

             

    [!] A few street kids are throwing oranges at a noble's estate from the outer side of their garden's railing, though it seems as if not a single orange has reached the estate's doorstep.

    [!] Gwyl naturally attracted by the anti-royalty act approaches the kids.

    [!] As he approaches some of the kids scatter and only three remain there frozen, unsure of what to do.

    [!] Gwyl offers the three remaining a gaze and with a fox like grin he picks up one of the oranges.

    [!] The kids look to each other, clearly confused by the red-haired man.

    [!] The ring on Gwyl's index finger begins to emit a soft celeste glow from underneath it's carvings and he gives the kids another quick suggestive glance before returning his attention to the orange.

    [!] The confusion on the kids faces aswell as their surprise of what it was they were witnessing was rather obvious.

    [!] Slowly yet surely transluncent wisps of celeste air began to appear out of nowhere and began to dance around Gwyl's wrist, catching more and more speed by each second. At that moment Gwyl tossed the orange upwards while keeping his eyes on it, and as it reached it's top height, the wisps had transformed into a stream of air around his wrist moving in a more agressive manner now.

    [!] The trio of kids kept silent with their mouths hanging open in anticipation.

    [!] As the orange began falling, Gwyl brought his hand backwards still keeping his eyes on it. The moment it reached his eye level - Gwyl brought his hand fowards slightly and the air travelled from his wrist to the edge of his fingers and from there straight onto the orange almost instantaneously, sending the orange flying towards the estate in great velocity. A loud splat was heard as the now squished orange coloured a window of the second floor of the estate.

    [!] The street kids gasped at the display and toothy grins brightened their dirty faces.

     

    Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

             

    [!] Gwyl would be standing outside behind the Wayside Tavern, occassionally throwing bread pieces to the goldfish swimming in the nearby fountain.

    [!] A young bruised lad with messy brown hair came panting with his notes and a student's wand in hand.

    [!] "You're late.", Gwyl said softly, not turning to look at the boy.

    [!] After catching his breath the lad replied, "But...you said that the wind is the element of freedom...and thus an air evocationist should act the same...free..."

    [!] "So.", Gwyl paused slightly, still not turning his head around, "That means that you are free to come to this lesson whenever you feel like it? Or keep only the knowledge that benefits you?"

    [!] The lad frowned and lowered his gaze, "I'm sorry master..."

    [!] "Like the wind you should be able to adapt lad.", Gwyl said with his back still turned on him, "And in this case you should be adapting your schedule so our lessons don't fall behind.", he then turned to face him finally, raising an eyebrow, "What's happened to your face? Got into a fight?"

    [!] The lad was in the verge of crying, yet he rose his chin slightly, his gaze tried to hide away from Gwyl, "It's nothing...just one fat dwarf threw a rock at my face...that's why I was late..."

    [!] Gwyl took sometime to concider him and sighed deeply, keeping his eyes on the boy, "Well.", he finally said, "You know the saying; 'may the wind be on your side'? Quite common with sailors.", he offered him a fox like grin.

    [!] The lad looked at him curiously, "I am aware yes...", he softly said.

    [!] "Good", Gwyl said, "I want you to connect to the void and pull a stream of air! The more agressive the better.", he said with a bread piece on his hand, "I'll throw this piece of bread to you similarly to that dwed and you'll redirect it back at me. Imagine your air stream as if it was a guide to the air the bread travelled your way - then bend it so you can form a new path for the bread to follow, which in this case has to lead back to me.", he spoke word after word rather quickly, "You got it?", he then asked the lad.

    [!] "I...eh...", the lad was about to say something but it didn't last.

    [!] "Adapt! Now focus!", the master mage interrupted, ready with the bread piece in hand.

    [!] The young lad took a few deep breaths and brought his wand close to him, holding it tightly with one hand, his mouth began to twitch and his eyes emitted a forrest green glow, indicating that he connected to the void, some strain was visible on his face as he did so.

    [!] "Now!", the master mage didn't hesitate to throw the piece of bread his way.

    [!] The lad almost instictively waved his wand towards the incoming bread with a rather tensed expression, a stream of air appeared out of nowhere baring a few transluncent forrest green wisps around it indicating that it was conjured air. The conjured air met the bread piece and redirected it towards Gwyl's general direction.

    [!] "Not bad.", the master mage nodded to himself, "Although your aim is a bit off.", he gave him a cheeky grin.

    [!] The lad's forehead was sweaty and his face slightly paler, "That...was quick...", he admitted as his eyes slowly returned to normal and wiped some sweat from his forehead with his wrist.

    [!] "That dwed gave you no indication so stop complaining.", Gwyl snorted slightly, "Now - catch your breath, because you'll be trying this again!", he said with a cheeky tone.

    [!] "Again...?", the lad sighed deeply.

    [!] "Again." Gwyl reassured with a fox like grin.

     

    Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

             

    Should the student powergame during a lesson or afterwards, I will tell them that it isn't allowed and will ask them to void said emote + re-emote it, properly reminding them of the guidelines and the redlines. Should the student powergame, intentionally, during a lesson: they will be reminded again of the guidelines and I'll suggest a re-emote or even a roll if they're eger to succeed on what they're doing, although if it's completely unrealistic and they are persistant on powergaming I'll be informing a ST. Should the student powergame outside of a lesson in my presence, a ST will be called to prove the recent events and whether it was intentional or not and if they'll be dropped, or not. If I'm not present, I hope someone informs me of the powergame so I can contact a ST as soon as possible and discuss on how the student will be dealt with.

    Name's Gwyl.

        Why seek membership to the Mages Guild?

    You see - as of late, it's rare to stumble onto a fellow mage - kinda sad if you ask me. Obviously in the guild there'll be plenty of us - Which is...good? 

        What arts, if any, do you currently practice?

    I'm a master in three voidal arts - Sensory Illusion, Fire and Air Evocation. I can teach some Illusion stuff aswell - heh.

        What position do you desire to attain upon acceptance?

    Adeptus Majoris.

        When should you be contacted for an interview?

    Preferably during the month of the Grand Harvest or the Sun's Smile.

  7. So this is essentially nerfed sensory illusion for anyone who doesn't want to meddle with the void. I like the fact that you have to be a bard to utilize it, though my only problem is that we'll run out of regular bards. A nice read overall - I can imagine a few people getting very creative with this.

    What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Sensory Illusion

     

    Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

             

    Sensory Illusion is the art where a voidal mage through his use of mana is able to manipulate one's perception and sensation. This type of voidal art is more like messing with one's subconcious with the use of the caster's own subconcious, meaning that for it to be understood to the one casted upon, the caster must create the sense of 'logic' that is affected by their own sensory experiences. If the caster has no understanding of what they were to cast upon someone the illusion would simply not work. Furthermore, it's an art that requires immense levels of focus by the mage, meaning that even the slightest of distractions would cause even the most 'logical' illusion to break. Lastly, illusions are harmless to one's physical state as they do not impact the physical world.

     

    Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

             

    There are two subsections of Sensory Illusion:

    - Glamours: As the name suggests the purpose of these spells is to manipulate one's sensations or perceptions of an already existing object, though they can only change the present sensory qualities of the object, thus it's impossible to manipulate or create internal emotions. When a voidal mage is casting a glamour it's impossible for them to 100% conceal themselves due to emote tells and cannot hold disguises up that would alter the object that much. With that said the spell cannot and will never drastically alterate the nature of said object without it being a figment, meaning for example that the object can only become 1/4 times bigger before being concidered as a figment.

     

    -Figments: Undoubtably the harder subsection of sensory illusion, requiring the mage to have an great amount of control on their focus and mana and aswell as their physical strain, since unlike glamours, figments can be created out of nothing, meaning also that it's the spell that the illusionist can be most versitile with. These spells render the voidal mage unable to interact with it's surroundings while casting the spell and the spell will shatter if their link to the void is somehow broken and if an individual or an object makes contact with the figment, although the latter can be avoided if a glamour is casted upon the figment to simulate senses. The mage can cast a disguise on himself yet since that would require a lot of focus, it's only able to be utilized by the experts and the masters of the art.

    [!] Gwyl enters the inn in Oren, he pulls out his flask and takes a seat on an empty table, near the bar it looks like a few ISA are taking a break drinking mead and having a conversation - among them it seems that there's a young ISA recruit and he seems like he's getting mocked on by the more 'experienced' fellow soldiers, more so by the old one with the double chin than the others.

    [!] At the sight of that Gwyl squints his eyes slightly and a fox like grin forms onto his face. The ring present on Gwyl's index finger would begin to emit a soft dark cyan glow from underneath it's carvings.

    [!] The young recruit seemed more and more distressed by every second that passed, yet he didn't seem the type to stand up for himself, especially as the old man kept harrassing him the way he was.

    [!] Gwyl's gaze locks onto the old man with the double chin, his eyes turning a similar hue in colour to the one his ring was a emitting for a blink of an eye.

    /msg old_man [!] After you exchange more words to the young recruit, you hear what it seems to be a large audience applause filled with sarcastic laughter! Yet if you looked around you, there's clearly no audience, except whoever's present at the inn.

    [!] Much to his confusion, the old man stood from his seat looking around, "Did you lot hear tha'?", he asked the others, "Hear what exactle'y?", a skinny fellow bully ISA asked the old man, "Laughter you muppet!", the old man exclaimed, his eyes looking around only spotting Gwyl sitting at a table at the other side of the inn with that glowing ring of his, "Oi! You there! Did y-...", he was interrupted by another ISA that one had yellow teeth and a face scarred by chicken pox, "What's wrong old time'? Gettin' delusinal now mate'y?".

    [!] The glow on Gwyl's ring wouldn't be present anymore as he dropped his grin, to take a few breaths.

    [!] The guards laughed at the old man now as they stood from their seats, shoving passed them, "Let's get goin' boys, we don' wanna end up like tha' old dog 'ere, besides the cap'n 's probably lookin' for us.", another one said and the old man was left speechless, as his frown lowered and followed the men with his tail between the legs.

    [!] The young recruit stayed a few seconds longer until his fellow soldiers exited the tavern. As he stood up his gaze fell onto Gwyl, who simply offered him a wink, before he himself hid his flask underneath his cloak and went on his way. The young recruit was left in thought for a few moments, before he grabbed his helmet and went to his post.

    [!] Gwyl is sitting in the library of Haense as a young lass rushes in, grasping a notebook with both her hands, "You're late.", he exclaimed with a calm voice, as he motioned his head towards the clock.

    [!] The young lass took a few seconds to catch her breath before looking at the clock, she then looked over at Gwyl apologetically, "I'm sorry, sir.", she'd say and Gwyl would offer her a suggestive glance, "Master Gwyl.", she'd correct herself as her gaze shifted towards the floor.

    [!] "Don't be sorry.", the redhead stated ambiguously, "Today we're going to learn how to always get somewhere on time.", he said with sarcasm present in his words.

    [!] "Huh?". the young lass seemed relieved and confused at the same time.

    [!] "Don't worry, we illusionists aren't able to time travel, yet we can make it seem so.", Gwyl flashed a grin, "Today - you'll be learning how to cast a glamour."

    [!] The young lass took a seat and opened her notebook, she picked up the pen that was inside.

    [!] "A glamour is the easiest to cast.", he'd state before continuing, "Beginners use it all the time.", he'd point out, "Glamours are casted on an already existing object, like the clock in this library. With that spell you can change it's sensory properties. For example, if you were to cast such a spell on the minute hand of the clock, then you might've been able to convince me that you weren't late five minutes by making it seem that way.", he'd offer her a grin, "Of course that would only apply to me, being the person you'd cast the spell on. Spreading a glamour to more than one individual is quite the task, but we'll get to it eventually."

    [!] The lass noted everything down, "But...", she thought, "What if...let's say...someone was to make the clock seem like it shows it's early morning, yet if they look outside it's clearly night?", she'd ask as more and more confidence creeps in.

    [!] The redhead illusionist nodded a few times impressed, "Well then the illusion would break, unless you convince them that the clock's broken.", he chuckled.

    [!] "But master Gwyl that doesn't solve the problem!", she exclaimed with raised eyebrows.

    [!] Gwyl then nodded a few times, "Indeed it wouldn't.", he stated, "But there's another spell we'll learn down the line - figments.", he winked, "Those offer way more possibilities.", he'd grin, "I don't want you losing track though!", he'd exclaim, "On the next lesson I expect you'll be on time.", he'd look at her suggestively, "Will you?", he'd keep his cocky grin up.

    [!] As the young lass closed her notebook, she'd offer the same grin her master was showing right now, "Same time as today, master?"

    [!] The redhead mage offered her a nod and a wink and the young lass stood from her seat and went on her way, confident.

    He was always fascinated by tales of mages and magic beasts he'd hear from his mother when he was a child, in one of his travels he got involved into a situation involving a mage that made him even more intrigued and sealed the deal for him to seek out and learn about magic.
