Born and raised in the Kingdom of Haense, Xavier was a curious individual since birth. His parents were travelling herbalists who treated the sick and injured in each village they went to. He was taught the dangers of flora like diddyfunkles, and to never use it to knock someone out unless absolutely necessary. As he grew older, he would spend time learning about everything he could. It didn't matter what the subject was. All he wanted was to know more so he could help those in need like his parents did.
One day when Xavier was travelling on his own, an injured man on the side of the room sought his aid. He stopped the man's bleeding with tippens root, and helped him to the nearest town. The man offered to share a recipe for medicine that could cure any illness in return. Xavier didn't believe such a thing could exist, but wrote down the recipe in his journal for further research.
On that same day, he returned to the inn to discover that his partner was ill. No healer knew what ailed him. As days passed, Xavier's partner's condition grew worse. Growing desperate, Xavier made the medicine that could cure anything without fully understanding it first. He made his partner drink it, but he nearly died in the process. The local healer scolded Xavier for his mistake, and his partner was now in a coma.
Xavier left town out of remorse after burning the recipe he was given, and vowed to never let something like this happen again as he set off on his quest for knowledge that could help his comatose partner.
