Elyon Zyldi grew up in a pretty standard family - he didn't have an extremely traumatic backstory. Both parents (Jandar and Zestari) did their best to provide for their two children, Elyon and his younger sister Kythaela, always looking out for their wellbeing. The Zyldi's, though High Elves, lived on the outskirts of the Holy Orenian Empire. Though Elyon doesn't know it, somewhere in his bloodline things became "impure", thus causing family's departure from the ridicule they faced in Haelun'or.
Elyon lived a quiet childhood - playing with his sister and friends from school, helping out his parents around the house, endlessly paying attention to the teachers in school. He developed a passion for education and learning, frequenting the library whenever he could. Elyon had friends in the human populous, but he had forged very few friendships that would last. Instead, he formed closer alliances with teachers - and as he got older academics who were interested in magic.
Elyon hasn't traveled too far in the world - he's gone on a few trips with his father into Urguan, and has visited Providence a few times with his peers. He dreams of going to Haelun'or at some point (unaware that he might be scrutinized for having ancestors that aren't High Elves). If he had it his way, he would be able to travel all the time, jumping from place to place (OOC might be interested in learning Voidal Shifting, but I know that will be a conversation further down the line).
