Olwind, in far nordic lands, born the son of a mother from Oren and a chieftan of the north star distant tribes. In Olwind's infancy he had much to do with his father's occupations, if he were to be the successor and one day take over the leadership of his tribe, which consisted of about 250 people and lay at the foot of a mighty mountain, against the seasonally frozen sea of ice. The tribe to which Olwind belonged went by the name of Dostad, a peaceful tribe, who mainly practised fishing. During one of the harshest winters Dostad had ever seen, the snow-top of the mighty mountain next to the tribe collapsed and the inhabitants saw a sea of snow coming down. Panic broke out, the sea was frozen this season so escaping by ship was not an option, people scattered like ants and the wave of snow hit the village. The devastation was disastrous and the house of Olwin and his family was destroyed. There was nothing left of the village and those who remained could not wait in the freezing cold without any shelter or source of food until metres of snow melted again in the spring. Led by the chieftan, Olwinds father, they set out, Dostad was no more. Travelling through the inhospitable area they checked place after place to see if this would be a suitable place to settle, the elderly and children began to fall ill, Olwind was 20 and his father, the chieftan, died of illness at 56. Olwind, by blood the next in command, was now given the task of founding a new village and guaranteeing his people a future. This was easier said than done, as Dostad was not the only tribe of the North Star and was accused of trespassing on territory that the other tribes had possessed. As a result, there were several skirmishes between Dostad and other tribes over their refuge and new settlement areas, which led to tensions rising so high that it turned into a war for soil. Olwind, now 21, was in the lead and had been determined to save his people, who had been reduced to pilgrims and halved in size. After a number of bloody border conflicts and the loss of almost every skilled fighting force in the Dostad tribe, they were defeated, and Olwind's dream of saving his people was shattered. Dostad fell apart, and was to be scattered among the other tribes. Olwind, now alone with his mother at his side, spoke of his future and his ambitious dreams and plans of creating a new settlement and living up to his father. He had been unsuccessful and looked down upon in the lands of the North Star, a true obstacle to his ambitions of leadership. His mother told him of a faraway land, full of opportunity and adventure. Olwind initially refused and left the lands of the north star to find his chance elsewhere, encountering dozens of cultures from north to south, from trading organisations to gladiators in an arena, he was fascinated by all the different aspects of these cultures but not convinced that he could fulfil his ambitious goals there. He slowly began to wonder whether he should go to these distant lands full of opportunity and adventure. After two years of travelling, he returned home to his mother. Now 23 years old, he became more and more intrigued with these faraway lands and finally asked his mother about them. She began to tell, about the rich lands of Arcas and the adventures that might await Olwind there. After a moth of learning about these rich lands, Olwind knew, he would be leaving over the horizon, heading for where perhaps his destiny might lie. Olwind had been at sea for 14 months and was now 24, but when he arrived at what was supposed to be a rich land, Arcas, he was puzzled, it was completely deserted. He looked around in some abandoned buildings and found an archive piece about a new location, after a devastating attack on Arcas. He read "Almaris, and the Daeperician Archipelago", he ran as fast as he could, full of jubilant hope, back to the ship of fortune seekers and waved the paper in the air, they were on their way, over the horizon, where Olwind's story would begin, in Almaris.
