Zahur Bin Sabiq al-Raajih was born in the Raaji tribe to Taheera and Sabiq, his mother and father. He didn't have any siblings, and there were few kids his age with whom he could make friends. Raajih was a very small tribe of the Badawi people. Zahur’s father was a merchant, he’d come back from his travels with tales and books. Zahur learned to read from his father and devoured all of the books he was given. Zahur would strive to learn as much as he could from guests to his tribe on the few times when they came. He observed that if you listened intently to their stories and anecdotes, you could get them to talk for hours. His father returned home from one of his trader's trips one day, but something was different this time. His father was wounded in the stomach and was dressed in a rich green coat that was more costly than anything he had ever seen. Zahur’s mother did everything she could but it was too late, his father was dead. When Zahur asked his mother what happened, she wouldn’t tell him anything except to say, “your father wanted you to have this coat.” Over the next few months, Zahur’s mother became more drawn in and fell into a deep depression. Zahur felt frustrated and angry. Zahur was irritated and enraged. He'd question her mother about his father over and again, but all she'd say was to keep the coat safe. She was unable to say anything else. He had to take care of her, she couldn't do even the most basic things. She passed away in her sleep 4 months later, Zahur was unaffected by her death except for a sense of relief. Zahur was 17 at this point, a grown man. With both his parents dead, nothing left him attached to his tribe. He wanted to leave that place and forget about it but to also learn more about this coat his father left him and had apparently died for, this coat that his mother kept telling him to keep safe. So he collected his father's funds and as much of his personal items as he could carry and made his way to the nearest tribe. Zahur would spend the next 10 years travelling from tribe to tribe, learning about people and their stories but still not getting any closer to finding out about his father.
