Metylda grew up within the woods with her mother, Elinor Saye. Her father, Aldwin Saye, left the two after it was discovered that Metylda was deaf. Her mother tended to Metylda to the best of her ability and tried to teach Metylda as much as possible so that she could take care of herself in the future. This included bringing as many books as possible back to their home to teach Metylda how to read and write. Eventually Elinor began to teach Metylda Sign Language in order to give her access to an easy way to communicate. The majority of Metylda's communication however is through writing and reading others lips. Once Metylda turned 50, Elinor became terribly sick. Metylda tried everything in her power to save her mother, even leaving the safety of their home within the woods to travel to Haelunn'or to seek help. Unfortunately she returned home empty handed and had to watch her mother pass away. Ever since then, Metylda has been traveling in order to try and expand her knowledge so that she never has to watch another she cares about suffer.
