Arivae had been born into a rich and bustling elven city. Her family was the richest of them all, frequently hosting extravagant parties in order to boost their public image. From her birth to her nineteenth birthday, she had been forced to look her absolute best. She was made to wear uncomfortable, extravagant dresses, tie her hair up in careful and painful up-does, and speak in a posh, royal elven accent. She was not allowed to speak to those outside of The Silver State of Haelun'or. She went along with this life until one night an orcish child, Shel, had wandered into her town. Arivae, being a friendly 11 year old, sees the girl outside on the streets and sneaks out to start a conversation. They become closer than Arivae had ever been to anyone, and they both end up meeting and walking around every night in secret for 7 years. In this time, she learns more about other cultures and people, far more than she could ever hope to understand just by living her sheltered life. She also learns that her family really, REALLY hates orcs. She grows more and more tired of her current lifestyle in this time as well, now seeing everything else this world has to offer. Arivae finally snaps and runs away to be with Shel when she turns 18, but when she visits her friend's home that she had gone to for so long, she finds it ransacked and destroyed, without a trace of Shel or her family in sight. Arivae is heartbroken, and makes it her life mission to find out what happened to Shel and her family if it kills her.
