Azren was born in Aegrothond, to poor parents and with an older sister that practically raised him while their parents made money however they could. At age ten, their parents were forced to resort to theft in order to keep the family afloat. Eventually, they got caught and were forced to flee in the fall of their eleventh year. The family got in a cargo ship as stowaways, but the ship capsized in a storm. Their parents managed to get on an escape raft that had gone unnoticed by the rest of the crew, but Azren and their sister were to far away from them, and Azren did not know how to swim. Their sister managed to swim both of them to the raft and helped Azren get on it, but a wave suddenly crashed and their sister was lost to the sea.
The family managed to swim to the shore of the Commonwealth of Sutica where they stayed for a while. After their sister's death, Azren slowly came to the realization that their parents blamed them for it. Eventually, they started blaming themself as well. Their parents kept them around, but they were cold to them and used them mainly as another means of making money. The family left the Commonwealth out of fear that they were followed and travelled to Freeport, where they finally settled.
Their parents used him to help them do odd jobs here and there, and taught him to scam and steal from people as soon as he was old enough. The relationship between them and their parents was never really rectified, he was kept around to make money and help them steal, since they looked innocent enough to fool people. At age 20, they managed to hide enough money away in order to run away from their parents. They traveled back to the Commonwealth of Sutica, where they tried to make a life for themselves. They still enjoy fooling and scamming people on the occasion, and they go around the city and its outskirts wherever the fun takes them.
