Being the consequent of a drunken night in Freeport, Jace didn’t spend a lot of time around his parents. Both were sailors and didn’t spend much time around the child. While Jace never lacked in the needs of childhood, he always wondered what the world was like. He grew curious about world his parents traveled. His parents would return home to between travels to look after him and share the stories of their travels. At the age of 17 Jace’s parents stopped coming home and he learned that the ship they were traveling on sunk during a storm. Wanting to travel like his parents and also taking a liking to alchemy, Jace is now attempting to locate a captain to enlist him on his crew as he travels in search of literature over alchemy.

Not completely fulfilled with his life as a carpenter apprentice under his father he left home in search of other knowledge. Jace still practices his wood working skills to assist in making money when needed, but strives to live a hermits life deep in the woods where he can conduct his experiments in peace. He does share his knowledge to travelers and townspeople when they are willing to listen. He keeps journals of his studies and experiments and in doing such has developed a liking to books. He travels a lot in search of knowledge and adventure, but does have a home where he can rest between traveling.
