Ergi was born and raised in the mountains east of Norland. His parents, Frea and Norder, were naturalists, who spent their lives searching for rare plants in the wild. They had built their lodge with their own two hands, and as well as a separate, glass-walled conservatory. Ergi spent much of his childhood on hikes with his parents or playing and reading in the conservatory; he had a lot of energy, but his parents discovered that telling him a story was a good way to put him to sleep. He would have vivid dreams of fantastic adventures; as he grew older, these dreams became haunting visions, teasing him with unknown secrets.
The most vivid of these dreams came to pass when he came across a strange flower while on a hike, at the age of 17. He was drawn so close to the flower by its scent that he didn't notice his parents shouting at him to stop until the diddyfunkle's petals spread across his lips, scarring his face. But in those brief moments, he realized something; for every mote of knowledge he could gain in isolation, he could uncover a thousand secrets if he searched and consorted with others.
Ergi left home at 19 to travel the world; he is searching for a place that sees many new faces every day, so that he can be introduced to people from all different classes and outlooks.
