Born in Lower Petra, he grew up with his family as farmhands on a local sheep farm. His mother and father were kind parents, instilling values of loyalty and family. They strived for better for their son than what they had, so were saving up to send him to the capital for education and better life.
These values, whilst originally a blessing, proved a curse once war reached Cassian's farm and the Dwarves took Lower Petra; His simple life was shattered by the loss of his parents.
The only family he had, which had been so key to his life and soul had now been taken from him. In a rage, he was able to slay a Dwarf soldier with a knife and escape the area. Eventually joining the hundreds of refugees on the walk to the capital. There he worked odd jobs in exchange for room and board, and stole the odd morsel of food when he couldn't find legitimate work. It was on the streets of Providence he heard of Baron Komnenos and his new estate in Westfall, and so he packed his meagre belongings and headed over there to start anew....
