    ALCHEMICAL FISHING

    Brews to help with FISHING!

                                                                                                        

     

     

    Name of potion:

    [T1] Minute Meats

     

    Brief Description:

     

    A salt that when sprinkled onto the meat of animals would begin to cook the meat. The salt takes the appearance of red sand. There is no noticeable taste produced from the heat salt.

     

    Recipe:

     

    N/A (base)

    Mundane: Swiftness x1

    Mundane: Heat x2

    Earth: Connection x1

    Fire: Balance x2

     

    Process:

     

    Begin by grounding up the Swiftness and Balance symbols into a fine powder. Once grounded thoroughly, add Connection to the powder. Mix until the powder becomes more granular. Pour the heat salt into a container that is able to be sealed.

     

    Effect:

     

    Sprinkling on fish or other animal meats would cause the meat to begin to cook. The heat from the salts is not enough to start a fire, but would be able to cook the meat thoroughly. Over the course of [2] emote the salts would be able to cook a whole fish or a slab of meat.[1 emote to apply and heat up, 1 emote to finish cooking.] The salts begin to react as they touch the raw meats and heat up nearly instantly. As the salt heat heats up the meat would begin to cook until the salts dissolve into the meat which would indicate that the meat was thoroughly cooked. The salt would have to be sprinkled somewhat evenly on the meat to cook thoroughly.

    Name of Potion: 

    [T2] Fisher’s Lure

     

    Brief Description:

     

    A concoction inspired by the desire to be able to catch more fish. This potion takes the appearance of grounded fish. The smell of the concoction is akin to that of a fish market.

     

    Recipe:

     

    Chum / Grounded Fish (Base)

    Mundane: Strength x2

    Mundane: Courage x1

    Mundane: Peace x1

    Mundane: Endurance x1

     

    Process:

     

    Mix thoroughly the Water Strength into the Chum within a container. The Courage, Peace, and Endurance symbols can then be added to the Chum. Once these symbols are added, begin to mix the chum to dissolve the symbols. Cork the container to seal the alchemical concoction. The potion would begin to reek of fish becoming stronger the more it is mixed, until finished.

     

    Effect:

     

    When in contact with water the potion would affect nearby fish luring them to the bait. This area of effect would be 5 meter radius. Fish would calmly swim to the bait and ignore other fish that were also lured in. This potion would last until the chum has been consumed.

    Name of Potion:

    [T3] Lucid Waters

     

    Brief Description:

     

    A potion that allows one to peer into the depths of water much further and better than what could normally be seen. The mixture is similar in color to that of ivory, whilst also looking viscous. 

     

    Recipe:

     

    Fish Oil (Base)
    Mundane: Clarity x4
    Mundane: Light x2
    Water: Endurance x3

     

    Process:

     

    Bring the fish oil to a boil and begin adding and stirring the Clarity and Light symbols. Then add the Water Endurance to the mixture and stir until the solution turns into a viscous ivory colored mixture.

     

    Effect:

     

    Once poured onto eyes a lens would form on the surface of the eye after a few moments. The user would be able to peer into murky waters. The murkiness of water caused by small debris would be less apparent making the waters appear clearer. From the surface the potion would allow sight for up to 8 meters in water. This effect lasts up to 2 narrative hours. If applied to a lens the sight would be reduced to 4 meters in water but for a more permanent effect.

     

    Redlines:

    -Does not light up water to make you able to see in completely dark waters.

    -Cannot  see through solid objects in water.

    -Has to be poured onto eyes. If the user is already underwater, resurfacing to use the potion would have to occur.

             Alchemy

     

    Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

             

    Alchemy is the science that analyzes and utilizes the material components that make up the physical world. These material components are known as signs and symbols, which make up the material alphabet. With these signs and symbols one would be able to create a multitude of concoctions. The process for making these concoctions is tedious, requiring one to be able to know how to identify and extract the symbols within a reagent. Along with that it would require multiple trials to be able to deduce the recipe of such a concoction. With multiple methods of extraction and with the myriad of signs and symbols within the material alphabet; the study of alchemy would be a difficult but fruitful journey.

     

     

    Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

             

    The study of alchemy can be divided into three main processes that would be used to create an alchemical concoction. These processes being:

    Identification, which is the process of analyzing a reagent for the signs and symbols that it contains. Once an alchemist determines these signs and symbols from the material alphabet they would be able to deduce what the reagent could be used for.

    Extraction being one of the most important processes would be used to gather the signs and symbols from within the reagent. There are multiple methods that are used to extract which span from mundane, aether, fire, air, earth and water. These methods are used to gather specific signs and symbols from within the reagent to be able to be used for the creation of a concoction.

     

    Eventually when the signs and symbols have been gathered, one would be able to create a potion using the process of Mixing. An alchemist would combine the symbols in a certain way to be able to create a potion. The mixing method could vary greatly between each potion that is made. Each potion has a different recipe and effect depending mostly on the mixing process.

    With these processes an alchemist would be able to concoct almost any potion with their desired effect.

     

     

    Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

             

     

     

    Ahng Gulr trips down the stairs rolling uncontrollably into the alchemy lab crashing into the table as a glass bottle would tip over and begin to fall. He recovers from the crash just in time to catch the bottle. “Yub tik tu dew zum alkoomi”.

    He would begin by bringing all the necessary instruments needed for the process of making an ice breath potion, which are a pestle and mortar, a flask, a sieve, a funnel, a stirring rod, and a magnifying glass.

     

    Once the instruments were gathered he could collect one bottle of liquid essence from his crate full of liquid essence. Alongside the liquid essence he would also gather from his herb storage 1 Serpent’s Stalk, 1 Ant’s Blight, 1 Blissfoil, and 2 Aqua Nymph.

    He tosses all the herbs one by one into the pestle and mortar, grinding them all up. Once the herbs were grounded he gathers a flask and fills it with some Aqua Vitae, placing it upon a brewing stand flame. He funnels in the ground up remains of the herbs into the flasks to begin boiling the mixture. As the time passed all that would be left inside the flasks is a fine powder.

    Using the sieve that he collected earlier he would sift through the fine powder to collect the symbols that were within the powder. Once finished the symbols that Ahng Gulr collected would be 2x Growth, 3 Coldness, 3 Endurance, 2 Connection, and 2 Swiftness.

    Now that he has extracted the symbols he sets the bottle of liquid essence on top of the brewing stand letting it come to a boil upon the flame. Whilst the liquid essence was boiling he places a clean funnel onto the liquid essence bottle to begin funneling in all the symbols that were extracted.

    With the stirring rod he stirs the mixture letting the reaction take place within the solution. Once the mixture was thoroughly stirred he puts away the stirring rod and fastens a cork on to the bottle to seal the potion of Ice Dragons Breath.

    Ahng Gulr removes the potion from the brewing stand and stores it away within a crate for later use.

     

     

    Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

             

     

    Ahng Gulr would be greeted by his student whilst he was busy fishing. “Gu azk another tik, mi trying tu catch a BUB FIZH.”

     

    After the student’s persistent asking of a lesson, Ahng Gulr would finally budge from his fishing spot to begin walking towards the alchemy lab.

     

    “TUDEI LAT WIL LURN HUW TU BEKUM A REAL ALKOOMIZT LYKE MI. let uz begin wit creating INZTANT WATER. Zo wut HERBZ duz lat tink wi need?”

     

    The student replies with “One Alabaster leaf and One Gislocinovi?”

     

    Ahng Gulr nods his head “YUB, wit diz wi kan create da BEZT potion.” He hands the student a mortar and pestle, along with a flask of Aqua Vitae. “Zo wut lat muzt dew iz extract ALL da Growth agh Purity zymbolz from da ALABAZTUR LEAF. Alzo da all da Zeparation zymbolz from da GIZLOCINOVI”

     

    He watches as his student begins to grind up the herbs within the mortar. “Yub, keep dewing dat until lat gitz it oll grounded up. Once lat iz ready poot it in da boiling Aqua Vitae on da brewing ztand”

     

    As the student finishes grinding up the herbs, the student puts the ground up herbs into the Aqua Vitae. Both teacher and student wait until the contents within the flasks on the brewing stand is a fine powder.

     

    Ahng Gulr hands over a sieve to the student “now collekt da zymbolz uzing diz zieve, dew nub mayk a mezz.” He watches as the student sieves the powder to collect the symbols.

     

    Once the extraction process was complete they would be left with 2x Growth, 2x Purity, and 2x Separation

     

    Ahng Gulr goes over to a barrel and collects two bowls. “Now peep mi dew it furzt.” He would add 1x Mundane Growth along with 1x Mundane Purity into a bowl mixing them until they’re a powder. He takes 1x Mundane Separation infusing it with a vial of Distilled Water. “Lat still peeping? Diz part iz wair da potion iz realli mayd. Hand mi a bottle, cork, and funnel” 

     

    The student rushes over to the storage to gather a bottle and cork.

     

    Ahng Gulr adds the powder and infused water into the bottle using the funnel. He corks the bottle and begins to shake it. “Now wi hav INZTANT WATUR, juzt follow mi ztepz”

     

    The student would begin the process of making the instant water potion mixing all the symbols according to the recipe with the help of Ahng to make sure the potion is made correctly.

     

    Ahng Gulr smiles “peep lyke latz DONE IT” He gives the student a hard pat on the back. 

     

     

    Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

             

    If a student of mine was to powergame, I would look to see where their mistake was to then help them understand the situation better to prepare them so that they would not powergame again. Once I’ve done that I would give them guidance on how their feat work to also prevent powergaming from happening in the future. If my student continues to  powergame after I've had a talk with them about it, I would ask for them to be removed as one of my students.
