Rumlar hails from the kalinago tribe, a clan of humans whose ancestors would partake in the vulgar act of cannibalism. this tribe would capture and kill anyone who set foot on their island, except for one creature. Khathal. a member of the kharajyr race who managed to befriend the tribe and Rumlar. however after doing so this creature set fire to the tribes village, killing all except for Rumlar and his brother Vaan. they hunted Khathal across the island and finally caught up to it at the cliff on the far side of the island. Vaan charged the Khathal but it was ready, it stabbed Vaan in the gut. Vaan slumped over and looked back to Rumlar as Khathal kicked him over the edge of the cliff. But Vaan managed to grab its foot. after saying his final goodbye to Rumlar he pulled Khathal of the side of the cliff along with himself. Rumlar ran to the edge but all he saw was Vaan mangled body at the foot of the cliff. from that point on he never trusted a khajyr again, and was secret terrified of their race. left all alone on the island with no food he resorted to what his tribe had rejected. he ate his friends and family to stay alive. this was until a ship saw the blaze and rushed over to help. Rumlar snuck aboard whilst the crew was inspecting the tragedy. he stole the ship and set off. on his voyage he stopped at multiple islands and raided, pillaged and stole all their goods. along the way amassing a crew of fiercely loyal companions. this was until they were hit by an incredibly destructive storm which destroyed the ship and scattered the crew. Rumlar awoke alone on a nearby island with no sight of his crew, he assumed they had all died in the storm. he stood up and walked along the beach stumbling accross a small trading village. this is where he is at present.
