Vindacus was loitering, flipping crabs and jellyfish on the beach during his vacation. For he much enjoyed the fresh air when he received news of this incident... upon reading the letter sent to him by a good friend he was outraged shocked even...

"Does he not know?!?!" he blurted out loudly "to think... they would dare assail I?! Vindacus?!? son of god?!? was this... 'pontif' if that even is his real name?!? informed of mine standing?!?!?" he shrieked to the seagulls fluttering overhead.

"SUCH BLATANT HERESY UPON GOD'S CHOSEN CHILD SHALL NOT GO UNPUNISHED!!! TO BREAK INTO MINE HOUSE IS AKIN TO DEATH!! THIS PONTIFF SHALL BE CRUCIFED FOR HIS UNHOLY SINS!!"

"THIS FOOL!" He grumbled, once again casting the newspaper into his fireplace "This wee wee, know'th not! when to give up! he must be taught a lesson huh Sariel?!" he uttered, glancing around for his maid.

"TIS FALSE!! THAT SWINE DARE PUBLICATE SLANDER!?! FICTIONAL NEWSLETTERS UPON MINE GOOD NAME!" He would crumple the newsletter, casting it into his fireplace as he read it. His cup of tea splattering to the wooden floorboards... "That fool... dost he not know I am sworn to protect the shire..." He sighs deeply... "perhaps the banishment... threats and... loss of sanity art true but.. HE DARE SAY I URINATE AND FROLICK NAKED IN PUBLIC!! HE SHALL PAYYY!!!" Would begin to bash his table with his great sword until it was reduced to splinters...

Upon hearing the news Vindacus drops to his knees, and begins to weep. "no... Tis so over..." After a lengthy sob session He then flips open his mask, marking his face with two lines of red dirt, ready for guerilla warfare. "Tis time to show them why they called me... the scourge of providence..." 

Vindacus passes one of the posters in the lowlands, the glitter catching his eye. Quickly dismounting from his horse he hunches over and reads it. After which he lets out a crackling laugh. "hehehe... Don't mind if I do..." He would say, before rearing his horse up heroically and bolting into the distance.

After careful examination Vindacus stood in thought afront the posted missive. with a hand to his chin he hummed to himself as he began to come to a conclusion about the letter. After a while he finally spoke aloud to himself.

"Perhaps this is what the peasanty call... fictional newsletters?"

"BLESS THE PALADINS!!! Humble servants of the prophet... Care not what they do in the dark... seek not... AID THEY MUST BE GIVEN!!!"

Vindacus would proclaim this to himself, continuing to ramble to himself as he wandered away from the posting.

"god bless the republic" Vindacus utters drunkenly, as he steps outside the Valenzian bar. He gave a wobblily salute to the statue in front of the palace before stumbling into the bushes.

Vindacus recalls the brave soul, Vasily of Haense, remembering standing beside him atop the inner gatehouse before the heroic man leapt into the fray. In the battle he would follow in his example, ensuring that the gate stayed open and that his sacrifice and distraction were not in vain!

"such a brave soul, he who would so beautifully give his own life for his comrades," he said after the Veletzer's last holdout in the castle was cleared. He uttered a little prayer for him, thanking his spirit for driving the last nail in their conquest of the Brasca.

Vindacus would return to his estate after a days long trek from the battlefield. His bags were overburden with mis-matching pieces of Deamonsteel looted from fallen adversaries and comrades.

"Now I have'th a grand assortment of armor to display around mine halls!"

He would proclaim this proudly, before falling into deep slumber in front of the hearth.

What circumstances led to this ban?

I thought it would be funny to go on a drunken rampage with a buddy and light a few houses on fire and act like a general nuisance irp. So I first lit a house on fire in Norland (sorry Aehmi), before traveling to Nor'asath. In nor'asath I broke down a few doors chasing some people. when the door was jammed I lit the inside of the house on fire and put a few signs before running away. The ban is completely fair, I basically disregarded the rules of villany rp. this is not an excuse but I was under the impression that you were allowed to light stuff on fire without asking staff, due to a previously resolved modreq. However I should of looked over the rules before doing anything irp. As well, I forgot that you had to make an emote for each attempt to breakdown a door, I usually forget that is a thing you have to do but it is no excuse and now I do know better. It was an honest mistake, while having a bit of fun I completely disregarded the rules of Villany rp, and in the future I will be sure to follow the rules. Even though no real lasting damage was done I understand why it was reported. I can see from their perspective that it was probably annoying to deal with someone not following the rules even for a minor incident.

Are there aspects of the ban you agree and/or disagree with?

The only thing I do partly disagree with was the accusation of metagaming. it was a few days ago but I remember seeing the people going behind a few locked doors through a window of their shop. so I broke down the first set of doors, and then attempted to break down the second set of locked doors which then jammed. I would say my character irp knew the people were hiding and so would realistically book it for the second set of locked doors instead of the unlocked upper staircase or room, (i dont really remember the house layout.) However I do admit that I was following their nametags once inside so I knew where they went, but I believe my character irp would have come to this conclusion on his own. However in this sense yeah, I agree that meta-gaming was a fair ban reason as well, and I will make sure not to do so again in the future. I may be forgetting stuff related to the meta-gaming reason, I didn't think to take any screenshots of chat or anything at the time so apologies if I have left anything out / un-addressed.

Besides that I agree that the ban was justified, while trying to goof around a bit I disregarded the rules of villany rp and was punished accordingly. While I did break the rules I believe it was relatively minor and a small mistake while trying to have fun. Since then I have read over the villainy and crp rules so that if I am unbanned/wait out the ban, I will able to provide more enjoyable experiences to people.

What motivates you to return to LOTC?

I am having fun interacting with people on the server and committing myself to doing a few questlines and stuff. I try to make enjoyable interactions with people and not take the rp too seriously, however due to this recent ban I realize now I still gotta keep in mind the rules/guidelines. I also enjoy creating parts of the wider world if that makes sense, I have made a cool little hobbit mansion, and I am also building designing settlements/homes for 3 different people atm.

tl:tr: forgot about the rules of villany rp, and did some light meta gaming. Looked backed and re-read the rules to make sure I follow the guidelines for the future.

What circumstances led to this ban?

I was accused of powergaming by a player named Halt when I attempted to escape from him since I was unarmed. He called a mod over to complain about me not taking proper damage for certain actions, at the mods request I emoted the damage taken. He then accused me of trolling even though I explained it has been a while (roughly a year) since I was on lotc and that I was not the best at CRP. Before I was killed I jokingly threw a raw mutton off the edge of the cliff, they took this as a bannable offence even though I did not do it for any other items. After that Halt got really upset and called in a guy named Urge to ban me. I was cooperating with staff the entire time, and trying to understand what would make sense for me to do in crp since im not good at it and don't do it often. The entire time Halt was being passively toxic.

Are there aspects of the ban you agree and/or disagree with?

Yes, I believe that it was entirely unjustified, and was only done due to Halt getting upset at me. I also find it funny that I was accused of power gaming, for simply being bad at crp? While I allowed them to connect every attack on me, they didn't let a single one of mine hit them and they called me the powergamer. It is a little annoying how I am being punished for losing? I seriously don't understand what I did that merits a ban. Halt had a high rank and seemed to be friends with staff, I think that influnced my decision to be banned, maybe not heavily but in some way.

What motivates you to return to LOTC?

Well, I was having fun with more chill players in Norland and started a new character arc with them. I was also hired to build for some dwarves and the principality of Alluria.
