Amery was born in a small hut on the outskirts of Haense, outside the walls. He would reside on a small and poor farm, harvesting it every year for his aging parents who could not themselves. His parents, Martha and John, were often bedridden due to colds they received from travelling North to hunt. The family often tried to hunt due to the lack of income to spend money on good, meaty meals. As he grew, he knew his ambitions were much more than the simple life of a farmer, and used all his saved up Minas to get a home in the walled city of Karosgrad. Inside the small abode, he had decorated it with pictures of his parents, the tables being filled with several books on medical procedures, which he would often read when not attending Church to learn more of the Canonist faith. Upon feeling that he had enough knowledge on Medical Arts, he would ask around for where the Clinic was and try to get a job. After doing so, he would also go to the BSK to try and join as a field medic, however he would change to a regular footsman if not available.

Now, Amery is 20 years old, which is regarded by many as the prime of his life, yet he had never had a romantic partner, and it was hard to find a woman who would date a man who was illiterate and uneducated. He had many life experiences from hunting and farming, however none of them really helped him socially, thus leading to him being quite shy. However, he was eager to succeed and find more people to interact with, romantically or platonically.
