Luralei was Born in a hamlet near Elvenesse as a child of Che'ir and Gormon. It was an extremely modest up-bringing with money being a driving force of most of the parenting decisions of their parents. Gormon's rule was strict and Luralei lived a sheltered life through adolescences. They was commonly told that dark elves aren't treated well in this world, and that it's better to keep to ones self. As they got older they were enlisted by their parents to closely work with them in their lantern making business. Doing the majority of the labor, Luralei spent many years living sheltered and building lanterns so that the family can continue getting food put on the table, and the lease and taxes paid on their home.
They had generally accepted this existence until another dark elf reached out to them while they were delivery a shipment to the harbor in Elvenesse. Upon their first meeting this dark elf took interest in them, striking up some of the most enthralling conversation that Luralei has ever had. In their own mind they did not think they would be doing anything wrong since they were conversing with another dark elf! surely this would be okay.. they thought. Over the coming year whenever they would make a delivery, they would seek out this dark elf and discuss life and the world.
At some point, the two of them concocted a plan to leave Elvenesse, and go out and become independent. With a plan to find some work and send money back to Gormon and Che'ir, Luralei left a note and set out on their own.
