Born in the year of 1878 Karl, the son of Max and Anna, came from humble means. Max was an officer in a mercenary corps and Anna worked a baked goods stall in the city. When the Grand Kingdom of Urguan attacked, and both of his parents were killed when he was the young age of 14. Using some of the teachings of his father, Karl joined a roving mercenary band and began to hone his trade of killing man and dwarf alike. Then one day a wandering noble found Karl in the remnants of a battle, bloodied and beaten. For recompense of healing his wounds and taking care of him on his journey of recovery, Karl decided to serve the family for life as a protector and banner man.
