You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) You take a deep breath and reluctantly sit down on the cushion, still unsure of what to make of the old hag. You clear your throat and begin to tell your story, explaining your journey as an ancestor of the great kitsune warrior and your time spent as a right hand man for the cult leader Max and his group, the Cult of the Void. You speak of the battles you fought and the enemies you faced, and how you and your fellow allies helped the cult rise to power. But eventually, you came to a difficult decision. You had heard rumors of a tribe of kitsunes far beyond, who were facing great danger and were in danger of being destroyed. As a kitsune yourself, you couldn't bear the thought of your own kind being harmed, and you knew you had to do something to help. You approached Max and the other members of the Cult of the Void, explaining your desire to leave and journey to the aid of the threatened kitsune tribe. Despite their reluctance to let you go, they understood your need to help your own kind and ultimately supported your decision. You parted ways amicably, with Max thanking you for your service and wishing you well on your new journey. As a parting gift you left part of your kitsune soul to protect the cult leaving you mostly human but you still have a fox like appearance. As you finish your story, the old hag nods thoughtfully. "It takes a strong and selfless person to put the needs of others before their own," she says. "I sense that you are a warrior with a great sense of honor and duty. May the spirits guide you on your quest to protect your fellow kitsunes." You nod, feeling a sense of determination wash over you. "Thank you, old one," you say. "I will do my best to live up to the spirits' expectations." With a final nod, you stand and make your way out of the tent, ready to embark on this new journey to defend your kin.
