You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) Example: (delete this) I stared silently for a moment before cautiously taking a seat. "How do you know me?" I ask. I adjusted my mask, making sure no part of my face was exposed. I rest my hand near my sword handle just in case. "I assure you dear, I mean you no harm." she says, "I can see the pain and anger swirling around behind that mask of yours. You're from Avesnes aren't you?" I clenched my fists as the blood in my veins began to boil. "Yeah," I said coldly. That night felt like it was so long ago, but it plays over and over in my head. "I'll never forget...what they did," I said. "But those no good barbarians who survived will never forget what you did either," she said calmly. I shot up from the cushion. There were survivors? I made no one walked out of there alive I thought. "Who survived? They won't be able to hide from me! I will have my revenge!" I yelled, "My home is gone, wiped off the map because of them. My family...friends....everyone I cared about....GONE!!" I was nearly in tears. Everything was taken from me. I vowed to not rest until every evildoer is eliminated. "I made a vow to myself, that I would find every last one of them and vanquish them. They're allies, everyone they're connected to. I will slay them all," I told the woman. She stared at me blankly for a moment. "I thought you would say that," she said finally, "So i'll give this to you." She handed me a small gold statue. "What's this for?" I asked. "This totem has very unique properties. trust me, you'll want to keep it on you," She replied. I took the totem and put it in my bag. I had wished the old woman farewell after that. I had to keep moving. I quickly left the old town, following the signs to the next town. If some of those barbarians did escape, I have to find them...no matter the cost!
