You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” "Looking for work, getting by... I've always found a knack for obtaining things through more subtler means... My understanding is that you have a job for me?" Caelnan is a brown haired elf of fair complexion that was orphaned by his parents when he was quite young, picked up and raised by a bandit gang, Caelnan became a trained thief by trade, a utility for the gang. To many he’s just another thief, he personally likes to call himself the Cobalt Thief, thanks to his blue scarf, he is in search of a new family after the gang that raised him fell apart. The nature of his childhood has had two effects; one, this Elf has the posture and skin of one of his kin, but the mannerisms and culture of a human criminal; second, Caelnan has developed a strong opposition to authority, and continues to reject the institutions and systems of the Princes that rule the realm. The Elf is left with the impression that the thieves, criminals and thugs of the land ought to have some level of solidarity, their existence under constant suppression from the Princes and merchants they exploit. The plan for the immediate future is to find a future, odd jobs at first, but it is likely that Caelnan will return to a life of crime. Whether that life comes with a new guild, or operating as a free-lance thief is another question. Underneath it all, Caelnan is good at thievery, and has an irrepressible fight to survive and thrive in a world that has abandoned him at every turn.
