  1. These laws only apply to Arcane Magic (Don't say Void Magic. . .)

These laws would apply to ALL types of Arcane Magic.  For transmuting, something should still retain its original mass.  (I made this a rule back when I created the sub-type for the magic team, not sure if it is still seen through though).  This way, people cannot turn feathers into boulders and boulders into solid gold.

Now enchanting is a bit tricky, but think about it, the third law ONLY applies to Arcane Magic which involves Transforming.  Meaning: even though the law may apply to all arcane magic, that does not mean it affects the magic.  Enchanting is not Transforming, it is...well, enchanting.  You are not altering or changing the physical appearance, you are changing its...'properties'.  So for enchanting, you could make a pocket which is deeper than it appears or a stone which is much lighter than it looks SO LONG as it does not change the physical appearance.  You should not be changing something's physical appearance anyway in enchanting.

Now you might be thinking, well in Transmutation can't you change the actual object into a completely different one?  I personally believe, no.  Transmutation allows you turn ice into water, but you cannot turn that water into lava.  Ice and water are the same thing, just in a different state, lava is an entirely different substance.  Allowing people to turn one object into a completely different one is a tad...well...I can see it easily abused.  Besides, you can achieve a similar effect with illusion.

Do not confuse Arcane Transmutation with alchemical transmutation.  In alchemy you might be able to turn lead into gold, in magic you can only turn that lead into a horse shoe.

  2. Good eve'

I am here today to offer a proposal.  As I am to understand, magic has recently been 'set free', as they say.  Now I have no complaints about this, but as far as Arcane Magic goes, I wanted to show my simple three law understanding to arcane magic.

Note that some of these laws more or less exist in real life, I simply altered some of them to fit the needs of our particular Arcane Magic system.

    The Conservation of Reality

The theory that anything performed by magical means takes up the same amount of energy if it were performed with non-magical means.

    The Law of Creation

The law that something cannot be created from nothing, meaning, all forms of arcane magic must have an equal sacrifice to perform.  We see this mostly in the form of mana.  This also goes to say that things cannot be destroyed either, as all things Arcane come from the void and all things return there.

    The Evaglno Effect

    [As proposed by Elindor]

The idea that arcanists can perform, on occasion, 'super mage' feats much like how adrenalin can allow normal beings to perform 'super physical' feats.  Though, according to the Law of Creation, the cost of said feat is detrimental and permanent.

    The Law of Transformation

The law that something cannot be altered or changed unless it retains its original mass.  This law also states that, when transforming something, the change must be physical, not chemical.  This means that a paper can be folded into a crane, though it cannot be turned to ash.  The ash cannot be turned back into paper.

Note that these laws are not restricting of Arcane Magic in anyway. They simply take the general laws of Arcane Magic that already exist, and simplify them into three easy to understand ideas. I also think these laws could be fundamental in creating new forms of Arcane Magic (Not that we need any...).

  3. The only reason this type of magic worked in Aegis is because there were magic guilds.  Now, I am aware druids, and mages, and shaman orders still exist, but they are not the same.

The guilds regulated magic, the idea was: "if your not in one of the guilds you shouldn't know magic"  It was an unspoken rule that most people followed.  It was never written, but it was an expectation.  The magic app has made people think otherwise.  The magic app made people think that everyone can know magic, with our without a guild.

This worked (kinda) in Aegis because of this unspoken rule.  No longer, the player base no longer follows this rule and most likely never will.  We, as past and present members of the magic team, have successfully trained the playerbase into thinking anyone can know magic so long as they have an app and a teacher.

Now I know I am not the most respectable person in terms of magic, due to things in the past.  However, I was around in a time when this rule was ever present.  This was not what I meant when I said let magic be "free".  Free meaning open to alteration and improvements.

What do I know, this might work out great!....

  4. The Sorcerers’ Solicitation

We, a conclave of magi (And other people), come with a request for Arch-Mage and/or Magi of the Guild of Mages:

After the Guild went inactive by a most unfortunate series of events Arch-Mage Crumena most kindly took the Guild under his control in our absence.  Now that said absence has come to a steady end, we would ever to politely ask for the Guild to be returned into its original hands.

Members of the Guild that joined its ranks during the time of our absence (including Arch-Mage Crumena) will be allowed to remain within our ranks if this offer is agreed upon.

If this simple request is not met we will be forced to take back the Guild with encroachment and assailment.

Yours Truly, Sincerely, Most Regards, Love…

  6. Ambros sits in his office reading through papers and other things of possibly minor importance, upon coming across a few flyers involving wars on Malinor and Oren.  Of course, Ambros was well aware of Polgrath's treachery at this point, however did not believe he would go through with it.  Eyes widening he holds it in his hand as it begins to crumple in on itself, turning to ash.  He quickly writes a letter to be sent to Malinor:

    Dear Children of Malin,

I write this in regard to the soon to come attack of Malinor.  Though Polgrath might affiliate himself with the Mages Guild (And use your symbol....)

    magesguildsymbolbyxemna.png

We are not affiliated with him and so declare our neutrality in this situation.  The Arcane Delvers do not represent the Guild nor do they represent the community of Mages in any way.  They remain to be an independent group of mages who act on their own accord.  Punishment will be dealt swiftly to those who involved themselves in this mess as soon as it comes to a close.

    Most Regards,

    Arch-Mage Ambros

The Conclave of Magi, of the Mages Guild, has decided upon the following Apprentices to continue their magical training within Wyverywn Hold.

    James [markdalgaard]

    Garth [FideiDefensor]

    Elene [Meguzara]

Congratulations to the above Apprentices, I am afraid I must ask any unaccepted Apprentices to leave the premises of Wyverwyn Hold (Unless given special permission).  If your name IS listed above then arrive at the Hold as soon as possible to be paired up with your respected Master.

    Most Regards,

    Arch-Mage Ambros

  8. Ambros wakes up from his dreamless slumber, a puddle of droll had accumulated in the center of his desk.  Rubbing sleep out of his eyes he looks across the expansive table of mahogany to find it in an absolute clutter, more so than it usually would have been in.  All across the desk lays papers of arcanic circles and magical diagrams.  If this was not unusual enough, scrawled across every single one of them was the same cryptic message.  The Guild had made little sense of these markings thus far, and such symbols corrupted the college walls with their mockingly confusing aura.

His upper lip twitching his face met the desk once again, in a slobbery, snoring harmony.

  11. Wizard Foam

    -----

Created in the middle ages of Asulon, by Ambros and Ogland a form of pungent ale made by mysterious and mystical means.  Often, and almost only found, in Wyverwyn Hold: The College of Magi.  It appears to be the consistency of syrup, taking on a rather sickly yellow color, much like a rotting banana.  Of course, no one would be able to tell that it was this color due to the entire surface of the ale covered in a thick and extremely sticky layer of foam similar to that of what comes out of the mouth of a raccoon with rabies.  When the drink is freshly brewed it sends out tiny sparks and lets of rather unusual smelling and colored fumes.  The effects it has upon the drinker tend to be rather…..random and unpredictable.

The actual process of making Wizard Foam is said to be highly complex and tedious, according to most mages, of course, accounts suggest that mages simply wave their hands over their cauldrons and call it alcohol.
