I personally have been in the position where I had to decide whether it's best to let people bring their items along, or if we start from ground up once again. In most cases, it's best to start over. Economies run on real world values (usually), such as how many diamonds are actually spawned into the world. This server is a bit different. Here, our economy is based on our kills; who can actually do what. Master farmers gain money by selling food and running farms, master miners dig deep into the earth and sell rare ores, and master hunters hunt for mobs, and protect others (this is one thing that makes this server so special; that we work as a community. One individual cannot succeed by themselves- they must rely on other peoples skills as well as their own). That being said, people have worked hard to get what they have in their possession. It's significantly harder to get diamonds in this server than it is in your standard MC server. Money definitely needs to be carried over. I'd also say people should be able to carry over what is in their inventories- no more. This server is massive. It would be so time consuming for GM's to transfer over a chest for every single person. Also, we don't NEED to bring chests full of cobble and wood; the world will be waiting for you to harvest all it has to offer. And with your skill levels kept, things shouldn't be too hard to get going again. On the note of bringing major cities over: I'd suggest against it. The whole appeal of a new world is starting fresh, with a new playing field at our fingertips. We will remember all the good times we had in the old, while embracing the new. Also, it's pretty damn difficult to transfer over cities, while keeping a seamless nature. World edit has it's limits. (Cities were built on natural landscapes to begin with. Plopping them into a new world will take a long time to fix up at the edges, trying to make it fit in with the new environment.) Anyways, I'm all for a new map- it's like a blank chapter in the Lore. Read updated Bio for explanation)) RL Age: ~19 (as of October) General Area/Timezone: Eastern Canada- EST Short Character Bio: My parents were killed when I was very young, too young to remember. They had a home in enchanted woods of the north; my family consisted of merely myself and my two parents. We were all in the home when the robbers came in. My father was a strong man, with a faith even stronger. He was not going to allow these Iblees followers come into his house and burglarize it- so he refused to give any money or possessions away. We did not have much, but what we did have was important. Brave as he was, my father was killed, as was my mother. This was several hundred years ago, before the undead were a threat, and the land was bare. The only settlement nearby was the FOA, who heard of the killings, and came to pursue the killers. When one particular follower of Aeriel found me, he saw love in me, and he took me as his own child. His name was Werut, and he was a strong, yet elderly dwarf. And so I was raised by a Dwarf. I was enriched in the culture of the Dwarven people, and have love and gratitude for their kind; for it was a Dwarf who raised me, and took me as his own. Werut died when I was in my early years (20's), but I never forgot him. This is how I, Maeglin Telrunya, have come to join a Dwarven clan as the High priest. I am different, but accept that fact, and embrace it. Throughout my life, I have spent many years worshiping Aeriel, and learning in faith. Came back and my server was pretty much dead. I'm just interested in a server I can jump onto and have a good time. -How much time could you be on the server weekly?: It will vary; I'm about to enter my 2nd year in university, so some weeks I will have a light workload and will be on quite a bit (few hours a day), and other weeks you may not see me for more than an hour. It really varies depending on my schedule. -How long have you played minecraft?: Very long time; almost a year... Started early september last year. I'm not up to date with a lot of the new stuff however. I'm used to spawning items rather than crafting, but I`m joining this so I can play legit, and have a good time. -What do you know about roleplaying? How long have you been doing it? What kind?: Never been in a hardcore RP server before, but love the idea of it. -What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect there will be a lot of people exploring the world, doing cooperative building/playing. I hope to contribute to this. -What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: Well, the first server I was on shut down about a month into it, the next server I was on was called "MinecraftUK" (I'm not from the UK, but it was fun anyways). It grew pretty large, but the owner did not want to maintain it. At that point, I moved onto "runicparadise", which has been around for a very long time. Myself and two others administered the server and forums, and hosted a large number of members (we had around 30-50 on at a time). Just a week or two ago, we decided we did not have the time to continue running it, and it died out. What about the lore?: Rules are straightforward, and I agree with all of them. I've never been banned from a server, and don't plan on it. I like that your rules are laid out very clearly, and are simple to understand. I especially like the PvP rules, such as "No returning after death. When you die, you lose ~30 minutes of memory. BenB In-Character: -Character Name: Maeglin Telrúnya -What is your Race?: Elven -Lordofthecraft.net/forum forum account: BenB -Biography: Maeglin was born of Nienna Ancalimë (mother), and Oropher Telrúnya (father) during a time of violence and war in the Elven kingdom. Maeglin was kept away and under safe shelter for the beginning of his childhood. His father died a heroic death in battle, along with thousands of other Elven fathers. At the age of 14, Maeglin grew ill, and his mother (a herbalist) went off to find the correct herbs to heal her son. Whilst adventuring, Nienna was brutally murdered by orcs while crossing one of their deserts, and Maeglin was cared for by his neighbors. Now, Maeglin is beginning his journey to elven manhood; although quite early. He believes he is prepared, after overcoming the deaths of both his parents. Now is when his story will begin. -Character Age: 26 -Character Appearance: Very pale skin; as Maeglin is but an elven boy, he has not been exposed to the heats of the sun as much as most elves. He has light brown hair, but not too much of it. He is of an average height, and is a below average build. He has not had time to develop his skills like his elders. -Character Personality: Maeglin is a kind Elf, but he does have history of being violent towards his enemies; so far, fights are not his strong point (he is yet to train for battle). He treats friends and fellow Elves with respect, and has courage of a dragon. -Your ambitions: To find and kill the Orc that murdered his mother without starting a war; it is a personal vendetta. Maeglin has nothing against Orcs as a race. -Can your character read or write?: He was trained to read and write by his mother, and a village elder in his early childhood. -Can your character mine?: Maeglin loves gems and jewels, but has no desire to accumulate riches. Mining is possible for Maeglin, but he prefers to enjoy life in the tree tops, swinging from branch to branch. He loves nature and all it has to offer. Some day, he would like to see all the world has to offer. -Are you a capable builder? I'd say so, yes. Massive structures aren't easy for me, but I make Medium to large homes very nicely. I can design roadways and interior areas very well. I'm not a farmer, but I enjoy running small farms (however, I have made several large tree farms, well organized). -Does your character have any special skills?: When angry & agitated, Maeglin becomes stronger and therefor has a heightened chance to kill his enemies.
