  1. Adrek points out that a race itself cannot commit crimes: it is individuals within that race that commit crimes. To list the crimes of a race is a fallacy. He challenges the orc to present a list of actual offenders and the crimes they have carried out: given the huge pool of information available to him, this should be easy, no?

Unless of course, he has nothing, his campaign against the High Elves is just a front for internationally endorsed banditry and massacres and he is shamefully attempting to hijack a halfling peace summit with his hypocritical genocidal vendetta?

If he has no such vendetta and genuinely has the wellbeing of the races at heart, then perhaps he should respect the terms of the Halfling's peace covenant and end hostilities, rather than sowing strife amongst the races just as Iblees desires."

  2. "A few facts the respectable Halflings may wish to note.

The High Elven regime was not a dictatorship, however, it only allowed High Elves to vote. Originally it was a High Elven nation, so this made sense. The halflings do not allow Kharajyr to cast votes in halfling matters do they? After taking the other two main elven subraces under their banner (due to acts of genocide by the human race against the Wood and Dark elves) this policy never changed. Worse still, Kalenz Uradir, the then High Elven leader, attempted to expand his dominion over all elves: he went mad with power. This essentially forced all elves under High Elven law and removed the ability of non-High Elves to vote.

The High Elves have long had a policy of removing disruptive individuals or those of mixed blood from the city out of fear of becoming like the old Malinor. Kalenz Uradir's political faction changed this to "liquefaction", dumping into acid pits. Combined with attempting to take full control of elvenkind. This was not genocide as practiced by the human and dwarven factions of old against the Wood elves, Dark Elves and more recently the Snow Elves, but it was mass murder. However, it was mass murder by Kalenz Uradiir and his enforcers, not by all High Elves. To condemn them would be like exiling all halflings because one went crazy and started killing. Note that the actual acts of genocide against the Snow Elves by humans and dwarves are being conveniently ignored.

Besides, the High Elven regime has all but collapsed, the city is currently under the control of the Wood Elven military. Reform is almost certainly imminent, with only the threat of a certain orc's murder party standing in its way. A murder party to which the Halflings are current signatories.

Are the halflings on the side of a peaceful resolution to the Haelunor situation? If so, I urge them to retract this condemnation of a whole race for the acts of a few and to formally withdraw from Rusk'Dom's genocide pact in favour of the Haelunor summit and dealing with the criminals amongst the High Elves by fair and just trials."

  3. "It's frankly laughable that this orc thinks that an appropriate response to a nation killing its own citizens is to enact a draconian ethnic cleasing. Or it would be, were it not for the fact that genocide and ethnic cleasing are abhorrent in the eyes of every god and deity known to Descendant races. This orc's reason behind a genocide upon High Elven kind is stated to be  because the High Elves attempted such on their fellow elves and because genocide is judged to be wrong. I'll reiterate, the band this orc is forming is attempting genocide because genocide is wrong."

I call upon all to see this for what it is, a front for bloodsport with sentient beings as the prey, manipulating people's hatred for Kalenz Uradiir and his allies to endorse sport killings of elves the likes of which we have not seen since the fall of the Conclave and the subsequent building of high walls to keep such murderers out. Anyone looking at this in any depth can see the inherent hypocrisy of his campaign and his convenient ignoring of the war crimes of members of other races that, by his own logic, would warrant the extinction of everyone who isn't a halfling or a kharajyr. Or have we forgotten Horen V and Heinrik Carrion's genocidal campaigns against elvenkind, or the dwarven attempts to ethnically cleanse the Snow Elves?

One would think an orc would go for prey that could fight back, but like those who used elvenkind as a punchbag before, he and his allies are honourless, lacking the balls to take on a race that can fight back.

Reason will win out. The days of the Mali'aheral's wrongful dominance over the elven people (a dominance only caused by the repeated destruction of elven nations by forces and figures not unlike this murderous orc) are over, but elvenkind will not lower itself to Kalenz's Uradiir's level in a wholesale slaughter of their elven kind."

  4. Kelsey sighs after once again being called into this

"You are now admitting to the acts of impure violence towards your own elven kin. This only sheds light on the ignorance of the high elves. They commit sins on their brothers, yet continue to call themselves 'pure'. Would someone who is pure have the blood of their own kind on their hands? Therefore, I say it is you who are the ignorant one. The orcs can't be blamed for their own rituals and traditions. These crimes don't even come close to being a tradition of the elves."

"So traditional murder en masse is okay but murders by a nation leader warrants an act of genocide?

Should you and all of humanity be put to death for the genocidal acts of Horen V and the White Rose?"

  5. Adrek ignores Rusk'Dom, convinced the orc has questionable motives or is connected with the Undead. The creature is playing the Iblees card so heavily that it's getting mighty suspicious.

"The Mali'Aheral are a people, not a faction. To judge all of them as deserving of death is to be a far worse sterotyper, an murderer of an order of magnitude greater than those who transgressed against you.

Reform is needed and it's always been needed, and you're now in a position to do it. So why do you back a vendetta of violence and murder against people for the "crime" of being Mali'aheral when the whole reason for reform is to cast away subracial boundaries?

Should you fail, do the Mali'ame deserve eradication because of your actions? Do all orcs? Their whitewash killing is far more widespread. Or the humans, who caused this state of affairs by repeatedly annihilating your nation and murdering elves, be they Aheral, Ame, Ker or Fenn, for sick entertainment?

You control the nation and I have some faith that the nations of Asterwald and Urguan are not so blinded by hate that they will not listen to you over the savage Rusk'Dom, who is no less an outsider as I am.

Convene a court to try the Mali'aheral criminals, reform the nation of Haelunor into a state no longer dominated by Mali'aheral. You have the power to do this! You do not need to become a greater monster than Kalenz Uradir to repair the elven nation. This "whitelist" is ethnic cleansing of Kalenz Uradiir's caliber, one man moulding a people into an image he desires, be it by acid or by sword, it is still evil. Are you evil?

You control the military, you control the nation, you have international backing and unprecedented power. This is an opportunity to practice what you have preached for so long. You have done what was needed to gain a position to reform the nation. You do not need to murder a whole people.

You stand for Bronze. Killing a whole race out of hatred without need is not the Bronze way. This murder is not an act of reason, not an act of restraint, it is an act of revenge. You don't need to enact a genocide. You want to.

Proclaim to the nations that you have taken control and that you are reforming Haelunor, that genocide in response to mass-murder is neither necessary nor tolerable. The nations that want to help Haelunor rather than those who want an excuse to murder defenceless elves will stand by you. Bring Uradiir and his allies to justice in Elven courts.

You're in a position for near bloodless reform, yet you reach for the axe of genocide.

How would you have history remember you?"

A tome on Bronze culture is left to remind those who have forgotten.

  6. "Had I tried to enter your city with pure intentions, and a kind heart, I would have immediately been dunked in acid simply for being human."

"Your words speak of your ignorance. The leaders of the Mali'aheral murdered those of partial High Elven blood, as orcs murder those they deem whitewash, but even they do not kill humans for being humans."

Acts ove a few yes, but tis the fault ove all if dey let it appen.

"Then perhaps you should be judged for the acts of all dwarfkind? Are the killings by dwarven bandits your fault? Should your head be placed on a pike as a result? You did not stop them.

What of the failings of the Grand Kingdom? Are each of them on your head? You didn't stop them, did you?

I was once lectured by Hiebe Irongut about the way the races treat each other and how young dwarves like myself were loose cannons. You're a disgrace to your father's blood."

  7. Phaedrus sighs quietly as he reads the open letter, clenching his jaw more firmly over time as he finishes the last few paragraphs, eyes narrowing. With that he prepares a quill and parchment, wetting the quill's end within his inkwell. When he is done, he also posts his open letter.

    ...

"Was my faith in you misplaced?

I suspected that your "whitelist" was simply ill thought out attempt to placate the hypocritical horde (and nothing will placate them save for the spree of murder they seek) rather than you being complicit in this genocide. Do you truly intend to follow guilty until proven innocent, to stand by and watch bloodlusting hordes murder every man and woman, to let them kill all that do not fit some image of a perfect society? How is that any better than Uradiir? Can you be complicit in their deaths yet feel you do not deserve to join them?

You claim to want peaceful change. You control the city: Now is your chance to do so! What are you if you allow yourself to be blinded by a vendetta of revenge? No better than those you despise, I say.

It is a list of criminals you should be compiling, rather than condemning all Mali'aheral that do not read these notices or that do not hold your personal favour. Those who should be brought to trial by elvenkind for their crimes.

The High Elves are a race, a people, not a faction. To condemn one for the acts of another, to enact genocide for the crimes of a few, is racism and barbarism that makes Kalenz Uradiir look saintly and tolerant."

"Do they forget the genocide that Aheral claimed on the Mali'fenn? Chasing them out of Lin'dale and force them to hide away? It is only right they get what is coming to them."

"It is Uradiir that sought to destroy your kind, not the Mali'aheral people. Besides, have you forgotten that Oren was far more militant in murdering your people for the "crime" of being under an unethical leader? For all the former Sohaer's rhetoric, it was human soldiers acting on human orders and human prejudice that torched your city, herded your people up like cattle and massacred them. The Snow Elves of all people should be standing against this, unless you are a proud people no longer and simply a reincarnation of Flay.

Also, perhaps you have not read the Treaty of Thales. It is the nations you now stand beside that condemned you to extinction.

    https://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/114088-the-treaty-of-thales-1475/ "

  8. "This is a call to all nations of Athera to take up arms against the genocidal psychopath Rusk'Dom and his followers.

This creature has initiated a movement amongst the non-elven kingdoms of Athera to invade the lands of Haelunor, overthrow its government and enact what can only be described as ethnic cleansing, as genocide, on all Mali’aheral. Many nations have flocked to his banner. Many nations have abandoned their honour and fallen under his sway.

I am sure you are all familiar with the acts of Sohaer Kalenz Uradiir, former leader of the High Elves of Haelunor. As many nations do, Kalenz Uradiir executed those who broke the laws of his nation, and one of those laws was not to be “impure”, a half-breed of Mali’aheral descent. If you possessed traits the Carrions describe as “edgy” without cause you were not welcome in the city: if you persisted in harassment of the Mali’aheral they would execute you using a vat of acid. In the past, those who did not wish to follow the Mali'aheral way of life could simply leave. Uradiir attempted to expand his dominion across all elvenkind. Rusk'Dom believes this is reason to eradicate the entire Mali'aheral race in a violent and indiscriminate genocide.

I propose that Rusk'Dom wants an excuse to murder elves because he enjoys murdering elves and delights in killing those who cannot fight back.

I am sure you haven't forgotten the days of the Flays, of human and dwarven bandits frequently arriving at old Malinor and at the new Conclave and murdering elves enmasse for abhorrent entertainment. They called them "raids", and this is a continuation of that Genocide For Entertainment by other means. The only reason the elves were forced under Kalenz Uradir's rule is because a Carrion monarch eradicated the Conclave for fun, before that a human emperor forcibly subjugated elven kind and handed half their lands to the genocidal anti-elf Order of the White Rose. But I do not see a banner of nations gathering to enact genocide on humans and pillage their town for the acts of those two individuals.

Rusk'Dom's own kind, the orcs, hunt down and kill any orc that refuses to follow their way: they call them Whitewash. This is even more extreme than Kalenz Uradiir's methods: do I see a banner of nations gathering to eradicate all orcs? No I do not.

What of the dwarven bandits that attacked the Imperium Tertius and started the war in the Fringe? Should we wipe out all dwarves?

This is not justice, this is genocide. And it's not even at face value: Uradiir's actions are being used as an excuse to return to killing elves for sport.

Uradiir's premiership is no more. The elves are currently ruled by Phaedrus, a wood elf. This is a sign of change, and I have great confidence that Phaedrus can reform the Silver City, removing its intolerant doctrines whilst maintaining its culture and preventing it from collapsing into a den of villainy such as that which Malinor became. Rusk'Dom, however, already has what he calls a "new elven government" under his banner: he has no intention of allowing any elf to resolve their own affairs: he is simply exploiting Kalenz Uradir's diplomatic ineptitude and the dislike of Haelunor it created to justify massacres.

I recently spoke out against this genocidal horde and was swiftly added to their Death List, a clear sign that Rusk'Dom does not seek a better tomorrow for the elven people (somehow by killing them), he seeks an excuse to murder. And it is indeed a death list: Rusk'Dom believes not in trials but in massacring elves on the spot and looting their possessions, without trial.

The militant dwarves that have joined this Flay-esque murder party state they will hold trials, but trials run by them. Elves on trial for crimes against elves, in a dwarven court? If a dwarf commits a crime against a dwarf in the middle of Kal'Agnar, should they be extradited to another nation to be tried their under another nation's laws? If a dwarf insults the Grand King of dwarves should the elves invade the Grand Kingdom so that he may be tried under elven law?

The elves are perfectly capable of trying those who committed crimes against elvenkind at the height of Kalenz's regime. Let those elven criminals be tried by their fellow Mali, not by some foreign invader.

Phaedrus is an elf of reason: already he is trying to protect the Mali'aheral race from Rusk'Dom's horde. He is capable of reforming Haelunor to be a haven for all elvenkind after the old elven princedoms being destroyed by those who now mass to enact genocide upon, of casting aside its racial intolerance but preserving its culture. He is the leader elvenkind needs. The elves are fully capable of handling their own affairs, when a foreign power steps in and starts murdering and pillaging for fun is when things go wrong.

It is convenient, no, that this genocide coincides with Phaedrus taking the reigns of the Silver City? That now the elves have a leader who can restore them to greatness, a barbarian horde is formed to cast them back down? Rusk'Dom is a liar and a murderer, and a strong united elven nation is abhorrent to him. It would take away his punchbag, his main source of innocents to murder.

To those nations that have joined Rusk'Dom, pull his wool of propaganda-induced rage from your eyes and see him and this hypocritical genocide for what it is. You are being manipulated, but there is still time to turn back.

To those nations that have not, to the Kingdom of Oren, most powerful in all of Athera, who, despite a shaky past, has stood by the elves in recent years, to the many unaligned settlements, here we must stand. Even if Iblees is not behind this horde, evil is. And to any individual that abhorres genocide, abhorres the killing of elves for entertainment and stands against the murder of hundreds for the acts of one person, tell Rusk'Dom's host of evil this.
    "

"We are the Shield that will hold back the swords of hate and sadistic murder. This horde of killers will not resume their genocide while we still draw breath!"

    Resist Genocide. Stand by Phaedrus.

    - Adrek

  9. Adrek just laughs when he hears of this. Now it is not only genocide of High Elven kind, but of all who disagree with it?

Adrek wonders which race Rusk'Dom is of, and if this banner of nations will attempt to wipe out all of
his kind. He makes Kalenz Uradiir look like a saint.

  10. The Shield of Haelunor

    A Declaration of Resistance

"As many of you are no doubt aware, the creature of indeterminate race known as “Rusk’Dom” has initiated a movement amongst the non-elven kingdoms of Athera to invade the lands of Haelunor, overthrow its government and enact what can only be described as ethnic cleansing, as genocide, on all Mali’aheral. Many nations have flocked to his banner.

In this open letter, I seek to dissuade those who might join this crime against Descendant life and persuade those who are current signatories to turn back whilst they still have the chance.

The “justification” for this are “revenge” for the acts of the Sohaer Kalenz Uradiir. As many nations do, Kalenz Uradiir executed those who broke the laws of his nation, and one of those laws was not to be “impure”, a half-breed of Mali’aheral descent. If you possessed traits the Carrions describe as “edgy” without cause you were not welcome in the city: if you persisted in harassment of the Mali’aheral they would execute you. This is no worse than what the orcs do to “whitewash”, orcs that do not follow their culture. The orcs are currently enacting a mass-killing of all orcs, wherever they may be, that refuse to follow their way. Do I see a collective banner of nations attempting to eradicate orc kind? No, I do not.

The problem began when Uradiir attempted to expand his regime across all elvenkind and began to kill other elves for any minor transgression against his ideal of a High Elf.

Why are all elves under the banner of Haelunor in the first place? The answer is simple. Because human regimes once subjugated and twice annihilated the elven nation and attempted to enact their own total genocide on all elvenkind for no reason beyond abhorrent entertainment. Do I see a collective banner of nations attempting to eradicate humanity? To judge an entire race for the actions of their monarch? No, I do not. There is enough blood on human hands to fill all of Kalenz Uradiir's acid pits twice over.

Dwarves and humans have massacred elves en masse for the last hundred years. They are in no position to judge, their crimes across history eclipse those of Uradir, and they have no right to murder elven citizens as they please or drag them away to try them in their foreign courts. The crimes of Kalenz Uradiir were crimes by an elf against elvenkind, and it is the place of the elves to put him to trial.

To join this hypocritical genocidal horde is to be complicit crimes even worse than those of Kalenz Uradiir. This is not justice, this is a front, a pretense for resuming the mass killing of elves for sport. Are you no more than a puppet of Iblees, so taken with bloodlust that you leap at the chance to impale your kin and laugh at their corpse? That you do not even ask who this “Rusk’Dom” is?

If you truly care about the state of affairs in the Silver City then renounce your connection to this genocidal horde and allow Phaedrus to reform the Silver City peacefully. There is still time to back down, a chance to see through your rage and prove you have minds and hearts.

I call upon all to resist this host of Iblees and to instead offer your swords to Phaedrus to stand against Rusk'Dom, his campaign of ethic cleansing, of genocide, and the Flay-esque puppet nations that heed his every command.

“You will not resume your genocide of elvenkind, your sick entertainment forged of elven blood, while I still draw breath.”

  11. Upon arrival in Haelunor, Adrek sees this "whitelist," the blanketing of all Mali'aheral as criminals against elvenkind whilst selecting an elite to survive. Abhorred that such an approach would even be considered he attempts to seek out Phaedrus. From what he has seen this elf seems to possess the honour Adrek no longer believes his own people have, and hopes that, should he be able to find Phaedrus, that he will listen to reason.

  12. Adrek Grandaxe laughs upon reading this document. Attempting to enact justice for acts of near genocide with acts of true genocide? Surely it is a jest. Besides, for all its diplomatic ineptitude Haelunor acts as a barrier against the return of the dreaded Malinor. Eradicating High Elves blindly due to the actions of a few? Did humans deserve eradication for Horen V's acts? No, and nobody suggested it. This is naught but a pretense forged to cover bloodlust.

And this anvil business? The true story of the matter, told by those involved in it, Tortek and the late Barvek Grandaxe, brother to Grand King Thorin, has been circulated a great many times.
The "anvil theft" story is little more than a convenient bluff to justify aggression against brother races.

Upon discovering that this document has been signed by Grand King Fimlin Grandaxe, Adrek renounces his clan name and ties to the dwarven state and departs the kingdom, taking the eastern path.

He will not stand by and watch Khorvad make the races of Anthos do his work for him.

  13. Very little information on what these options entail is provided.

We need to adjust the city's layout to be much more condensed a la Senda's plans with Petrus: we don't want players spread out throughout the city. What needs to be done is for someone with a good grasp of that philosophy to sit down and work out how to adapt Agnar and provide a solid plan. It's possible: look what chumpchump managed to do with Abresi. Personally I predict a lot of demolition no matter what, although the cogs are turning in my head now as to how to actually do this.

Starting over is dangerous: we could easily end up like we did in Asulon. As for holds, we don't have the numbers: holds are bad for the kingdom and are pretty much just clan chiefs wanting to run their own cities.

  14. Faramith sighs and hold his chin."Term 6 seems really bad."

"It reads such at first glance, but what it states is that the Asterwaldians demand the creation of a new title, the King of Ruska, or more accurately, Renatus. This King of Renatus then rules over Renatus, the King of Asterwald rules over Asterwald, and the Emperor of Oren rules over it all. Currently there is no distinction between Emperor of Oren and King of Renatus.

Were the Carrions to accept this proposal, Term 6 is actually far more in their interest than in the interest of the Waldenians: should a Waldenian ever assume the title of Emperor without this term they would become the monarch of Renatus also."

Firstly, you suggest a Highland dominated political system in a population of a nation that is majority Heartlander.

"I believe it is reasonable to describe the Carrions and the Raevir people as Heartlanders in these times, no?"

  15. Can only bad people become undead, or can people be converted?

If you're asking can there be good undead, the answer's that joining a faction of corpse mages hellbent on corrupting all they can and destroying everything else means you're not going to be a good guy.

If you're asking can good characters be turned evil, certainly.

  16. Are we just going to redo Aegis at this point? Undead vs. Ascended, but with new people and a new Aengul? If so, I hope it's changed up at least in some way.

There's no protagonist. The Ascended exist as they have since late Anthos but they don't have superspecialawesome anti-undead plugin powers this time.

    We're on our own.
