  1. *Kvothe mumbles to himself, the five thousand minas prize beckoning to him.*

"Sounds like all of the orcs. I doubt anyone will mind, or be able to tell the difference, if I just bring another one in..."

Edit: Looks like my 500th post is dedicated to miserly tendencies and scheming. Yay.

  2. It doesn't seem to really be providing much RP. Most people still don't have much of an allegiance to their nation, and on the citizen level, the only thing they experience is war. From the greater picture, it's interesting, but in terms of "logging on and talking to real people," I don't see that it's doing much.

In the case of the undead, people actually talked about them. Entire characters were swayed by their impact. It was much more fun for the average player.

There are no more universal evils. The last major evil guild was the Dark Brotherhood, and they still weren't a very common name. While I understand that the goal was to bring more internal strife, there has actually been a severe decrease in the level of fear.

The departure of the undead is one of the many reasons why the quality and quantity of RP has decrease in Asulon.

  3. Firstly, a huge tip of the hat to OSD for handling some of the arguments with incredibly awesome rebuttals.

I believe in creation, because if in the last fifty or so years, we have tons of fossils of birds, fish, and wildlife in general, don't you think that over millions of years of evolution, that their would be tons of fossils around? It just doesn't make sense to me. I've grown up a christian, and have been to a variety of different countries, and learned about allot of religions. You can call be one sided, and or close minded, but it's what I believe.

I don't understand this. It seems that you are directly contradicting yourself in a single sentence. "We have tons of fossils... why don't we have tons of fossils?" Could you please rephrase this?

P.S. It would be an honor for you to label me a Jesus freak. =3

Because fanaticism is a label we strive for in a "rational" debate.

Now, it seems that this debate his wound down - pretty much all of the Creationists' points have ben firmly rebutted. Should we call it a close?

  4. I have a guild/group that would like to move into (and expand) an existing ruin. It's in the Salvus area. Now, I know that Salvus will fall fairly soon, and so whoever controls the region it is in will be a different person. Should I just file the charter now and deal with whatever comes, or should I wait? The latter is not entirely appealing as we really do need a base of operations. Secondly:

    Village plot

    Contents:

    • 25x25 land plot
    • Protected down to Y45

    Requirements:
    • Accepted Village Charter
    • 14,000 Mina
    • or A benefit for well developed (class A) guilds, on which to create a guild house if they choose

This seems to imply that a village plot would be free should you fit the requirement of having a guild be on it. It's vague, however. Can you clarify the benefits and what makes a guild "well developed?"

  5. -snip-

I refrained from replying to this for a while after seeing that you would not be responding to it if I did, but I decided to do so nonetheless, to open up the debate to others. Now, first - we have narrowed this debate down to a single point of disagreement. You admit that there is micro-evolution, or as you say, species-evolution. Now, the thing is this - the difference between that and Darwin's Evolution is entirely intangible. The proper definitions of Micro- and Macro-Evolution are as follows.

Micro-Evolution describes smaller changes due to natural selection and environment, such as color changes. The first line of defense in an creationist's arsenal is often this. It admits to the basic principles of natural selection, but denies other aspects.

Macro-Evolution describes larger, more complex shifts in anatomy. The most commonly used example is the eye - something that creationists say is too complex to have developed in simple stages. I'll debate this point with you if necessary, but it doesn't seem needed.

    (Source: berkeley.edu)

Now, as you have conceded to species-evolution, I must assume that you accept the larger theory of evolution, as well. I'll leave it at that for now.

Also, on the fossil record - the fossil record is one of the most reliable pieces of evidence we have for anything. It's not solid proof, of course, but it's pretty darn good evidence, which is about the best you can have in most of these things. There are, as with anything, fake "human ancestors." That doesn't mean there aren't real, strongly, strongly supported human ancestors. Honestly, I have no idea how anyone could mount a reasonable assault on the fossil record.

  6. ((RPly, I do have the originals. Instead of just copying them RPly, which would have taken hours, I merely grabbed the books off their respective shelves and shoved them in my pouch. So, you do not still have the originals RPly - you only have them as far as the plugin goes.

And yes, when I can next contact you, they are still for sale.))

  7. ((Actually, they are the authentics. I'm sorry if I forgot to make this clear, but he took the books off the bookshelves and carried them off. As I didn't have perms, I didn't break any of the library cases or place a sign as I had thought I had made it clear that they truly were stolen, not simply copied hastily, as that would have taken a massive amount of time. This is clearly an error on my part, then. Also, I have a VA accepted for 1, 2a, 2b, and 4.))

  8. *A sign is posted beneath the notice, tacked on by a courier. The courier glances around, distinctly unnerved, before moving to a nearby tree and climbing up it, setting out his things to wait. The handwriting on the note is unrecognizable, and there is no signature.*

"I have come into possession of the former Ascended Selina Demones. She is in complete captivity, and will be restrained until later notice. I was wondering if your cult was interested in revenge. Talk to my messenger and you will be able to contact me. The price is five thousand minas."

  9. Character Name:

    Kvothe

    Relationship to the House:

A friend and accomplice of Lorethos. Has worked with him on several occasions. Also the cousin of the wife of a member of the House.

    Character Occupation:

    Conman.

    Character Strengths:

A pretty amazing actor and impersonator, which lends itself to elaborate connings. Pretty darn clever. Very good with a sword. Sneaky.

    Character Weaknesses:

Not physically strong. Not charming unless he's trying. Incredibly egotistical and arrogant. Cowardly.

  10. *A final notice is pinned to the bottom of the notes. Kvothe is beginning to get irritated with the costs of couriers, but deems it a necessary expense.*

"Sorry, high elves! Looks like you've been outbid. The council records and the journal are being sold immediately - the poems will still stick around for another elven day. Congratulations to the winner.

    - Kvothe"

*A third note is found underneath a different doorway in the high elven city, as Kvothe has decided it's time for some variety.*

"I still possess the books. You cannot stop the private collector from gaining them, but I happen to know they will be kept in safe, secretive hands. I still, however, hold copies of the books. Should you wish to buy those off me, they will be 1000 minas each. Consider the risks carefully."

  11. *Kvothe stops midstep, his ears catching on the ****** of conversation. Backpedaling, he turns and jogs back to his home in Roseus Aquila, thoughts sprinting through his mind. As he arrives, he scoops up a few papers and a quill and inkpot and sends off a few letters, his mind preoccupied all the while.*

"The Brood. This is my chance."
