  1. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the new system. I in fact think it’s allowed me to roleplay more.

i generally have had a system going, I log in get my nodes out of the way, the. Just go RP, then before I leave for the night my nodes have replenished and I just harvest them again before logging off.

it’s also forces me to go to different locations I otherwise wouldn’t have. Leading to several different roleplay interactions along the way.

it might be “complicated” in a way, but it doesn’t take all to much time. Most everything now is right next to eachother so I can craft just about all the items I want within minutes.

im fine also with the energy restraints and respawn time on the nodes. As I think this avoids overloading the server with those types of resources. Those this will become moot as time goes on.

as it is a few days ago copper/tin ingots were selling for near 5 minas a piece. Now I rarely see them selling for over 1.

i am a fierce opponent to resource pits, I think they take players away from roleplay areas. And are just a time sink. If your going to give players large areas of specific resources, why not just give them creative mode? The overall effect is achieved and you save time.

I also think that the time and effort balancing while needing some work is good.

i prefer it for a group to have to collect resources together over days and build something over days, rather than just playing mineman/strip mining an area and brute forcing a settlement overnight. Idk it just seems hollow to me. Like again, why not just give players creative if that’s basically what’s being achieved by the end of the day.

inatead I’ve been able to watch small settlements and encampments grow change and evolve over a period of days, and it makes me feel like the world is more alive and dynamic.

i think most of the implementations follow simple enough logic,  the just may require fine tuning. Such as boars, idea is simple and can be understood, but tuning the effort/output risk/reward factor may take some time.

  2. I am The Virtuous Man -Master Thief.

And to some that might seem but a moniker, a self appraised title that the petty burglar gives himself to make his life seem more important. Yet a few, yes a select few know the honor that comes with the title. Trained directly from the Righteous Man. Given the opportunity to make a better life for himself. I spent years as part of the famed Master Thieves Guild. I was there at the start, during the golden age - and during it's fall. I was there when brother turned against brother. Flesh peeled from the skin; and pain... such pain.

But of those golden years, of the guild when just the time we spent as brothers was enough to keep us together. That was life, a pure life. From the grand heists of Aegis to the vast vaults of Asulon. We became known hell we ascended to a place in the public eye that only a handful of groups ever achieved; we became respected.

But time changes everything. The guild was splintered by the thorn - by the rose. A war was started between tradition and alliance. Through much bloodshed the guild's fate was sealed, it's highest members; those who had survived went their own way. Made their own path.

    Who am I now?

Now i am an Elder, knowledge to provide, and the author of those stories; the ones that your children pine to be told before bed. But should you find me let it be known... the mask is waiting, and it calls for the righteous one.

  3. Straightforward post is straightforward.

I guarantee that only a handful of the community may barely be able to remember my name.

Anyways i just wanted to see if there was anyone on the server/ part of the community who lives in NJ. To this end IF THERE WAS someone who did i would then have to introduce them into larping...

    That is all.

  4. I'll give it time see how it goes but I still don't like the look of it, still too much unneeded redundancy (hassle). While yes it is a significant cut on the original; I'd still rather see a complete removal and then just place responsibility on the player themselves, rather then a system of checks and balances.

  5. ???

We don't walk around with spawned items. I have an empty inventory 99% of the time I'm online.

Im not saying you walk around with them all the time, but for an event such as this, where death is very likely; just saying you have to be "extra careful"

  6. As stated before, somehow GM's need to be "stripped" of all spawned in items prior to the battle beginning; not only would this give them an advantage, but even worse; should the GM die, those items they spawned in are now in the hands of the player.

  7. Take your wimpy destruction you had in place so as to "appease" those who would say "But I don't want my house knocked down"

And actually make the damage realistic as to better represent an actual tornado.

    -Edit-

This would eventually lead to  magic that would include "weather manipulation" wont it... :/

  8. (( Only difference is is that Mog isn't trying to kill all the jews, blacks. homosexuals, and disabled people :/ ))

(( IMO, it's nothing like the American Revolution. It's two completely different races fighting over corrupt leaders. The American Revolution happened because America wanted their independence ))

((Cant tell if being serious or joking around, and I was associating it to the American Revolution, because of the "turn around" the war had and the Americans were able to beat a "superior" fighting force.))

  9. ((I prefer to think of it as the American Revolution, yea sure America was on the losing end for the first two years but hey...))

*A cloaked figure walks onto the battlefield*

Allow them their victory, it was not fault nor luck any part, but surely as a blade is hammered before complete so then will the Dwarves suffer loss before prevailing.

  10. ((Roleplay post. All non-roleplay should be appropriately placed within double brackets. You aren't going to just happen upon it. Ask around, there are plenty of people who will know where it is))

((It's funny because I literally just happened upon it, just decided to take a walk along this road and BAM I found it.))

  11. Welcome to Happy Fun Server where everyone is nice to everyone and we all get along in our perfect Utopian society!

But seriously just covering up issues doesn't solve them, and If I disagree with something I feel I should have the right to rant about it. I

don't have to hate on anybody but I still should have the right (not to hate to rant).

I would like to market a couple of things

    1. In the real world people are able to rant about everything, this includes degrading, hateful, spiteful, insult-ful, etc. -comments and other words. IT's not like you can censor life (or the people therein) make

    2. Censoring the players opinion such as by banning them for a status they A. won't do anything but breed resentment for the staff, the player will still be mad, except this time he'll be mad at the staff aswell. B.if you don't let players vent eventually they'll either let all frustration out at once (pugsy) or jet get so fed up they quit the server all together.

  12. Interesting, although if you strip it down the idea isnt so much as a new idea but rather making an old one better.

Seems as though the only adaption (possibly) is that you aim to not have a predetermined outcome well actually it seems as though you will just have two outcomes and then have it go from there.

MY concerns are this, How effective would this actually be? In your example that you gave I saw only one outcome, which would be the players succeeding -why? Because The players would strap themselves with the most armor they could, they would come in the largest groups they could and they would annihilate any mob armies you throw at  them the players would always vie for the outcome which is to protect the elder and so this outcome would always be inevitable. And you can't just simple increase the difficulty or just buff up the event team staff because then players would complain and say that the event was unwinnable or that it was impossible or the boss was overpowered etc.

If you truly want both outcomes to be OPEN outcomes then you run the very difficult task of coming up with scenarios where both outcomes are just as likely. Scenarios designed based on how the player would think and then make challenges accordingly.

A challenging scenario or climax for one could be this,

Players are trapped in a room with no where to go, armies of mobs are swarming. On the wall are a series of levers (a puzzle of some sort) Players then have to solve the puzzle as mobs are fighting them. However the mobs never stop coming, their are no waves of mobs either; just a constant ever growing stream of them.

Pros: Survivability is based on overcoming an obstacle however there are no clues on how to do this. The task is difficult but not un-doable. The challenge in doing this is you need to make the threat real, throw enough mobs at them to the point where if they don't solve the puzzle they will die; but not too many mobs to the point where there is no time to solve the puzzle because everyone is busy dying.

-Also there is the added challenge which is posed by what you propose.

Do you propose an ongoing story with these events? or one off mini-encounters?

    There are challenges to both,

On one hand an ongoing story makes those involved feel connected to it and they feel  much accomplishment once it is resolved.

On the other those who haven't been with the story or missed an event would feel alienated and hesitant to invest the time to join in on the adventure.

One off mini encounters aren't bad either however they generally feel much cheaper and that sense of accomplishment is nowhere near to the other option. The way I feel about these is that mini-encounters should be handled in the same way Runescape handles random encounters.
I think it would be cool if some gnome wizard popped up while I was fishing then teleported me away to some island to overcome a challenge etc. -Then perhaps the rewards for these could be items otherwise unobtainable.

  13. ((Assuming this is on the 4th of May -I may or may not be able to attend, Also you can assume that my post is in the future"

*An odd man arrives at the tourney, he come dressed in a variety of armor pieces none of them matching, where an emblem might be to signify a house you see a large crimson V. His face is guarded by a jet black helmet with a visor fully concealing his features. His armor is loose fitting and he moves with a certain sway which sends out an aura of caution towards those he comes in contact with.*

*If when asked about his identity or point of origin, he replies that he is a mystery knight who rides under a banner long forgotten,
If when told he cannot participate((lets assume Charles or his wife vetoes)) he pronounces loudly that he has brought 400 minas and a variety of other treasures to better accompany the dowry, including two purebred palfreys, a variety of Elvish swords; including a decorative golden blade and the personal endearment of himself towards Scarlett.*

((Charles you better let me in on this...))

  14. *Coming out of the morning you immediately notice the presence of dozens of fliers scattered about the streets of Salvus. Putting thoughts of how the Shields handle trash aside you are curious as to what the flier says.*

*The words on the flier are in a dark crimson ink, it reads,

"The Apothecary fire was only the beginning, you who live so innocent lives will know my vengeance; yet it is not you the citizens who have brought my wrath upon ye but your leaders who have done so... Corrupt officials who roam the streets as if they cared a damn about the people they lord over. In this regard the people of Salvus will have 1 Elven week to oust the man by the name of "Charles Greymane"
If by the end of this time this corrupt monster is not exiled then Salvus and her people shall be brought to rubble..."

*The note ends and you ponder its words; wondering who would have wrote it and noting it seems that the fliers were dropped from the rooftops.*

  15. *A man in plain clothing waits by the noticeboard, haven been given instructions to speak to the "starter" of the forum.*

*Upon seeing him he would say"

My master although he cannot be here in person has been searching for men as yourself. He seeks not to recruit you into some clan or house; where you would be naught but a foot soldier, but rather a very unique brotherhood whose roots stretch as far back as Aegis. He fears that should you join up with any of these houses or clans that you will never find that which you seek. His story is that such as yours, yet he has overcome what you struggle with and found purpose within the brotherhood which he now leads.
