Sure, I love RP fighting: on a small scale. RP fighting simply does not work with more than, say, 6 people. RP fighting is great, and so it should be default as we are a roleplaying server- rather than PVP which creates impossible scenarios (e.g. a Halfling easily killing an Orc simply due to the fact that the player can click faster).

However, PVP does avoid any chance of power/meta gaming. Instead of continuing this bloody endless debate: we should be creating and modifying new rules that apply to PVP that makes it a more fun ? experience for everyone rather than it being something that players use only so they can take people's items.

  2. Oh, well, that sure was something right there. As much as I may, in fact, disagree with the idea that younger players are immature across the board: I can see your point that younger players' lack of maturity is damaging the server and its community. However, there us no actual way to combat this "threat" as it would involve discriminating against our younger peers, who's to say that a person that may be an adult is mature enough? We shouldn't be basing the argument of maturity on people's age.

I joined the server in 2011, and I was relatively  mature within roleplay despite only being 13 years old at the time. So, if you had your way, would you have an minimum age requirement on the server application? Would you so actively discriminate against others, without giving them a chance to show you their worth? If so: then it would appear that the younger players are not the ones who are immature.

Overall, yes, I agree with your point that Minecraft has gained a younger playerbase (th-thanks, Yogscast) and that something needs to be done to limit the amount of immature young players- but not all young players. Don't forget: older players can be immature too.

  3. OH THE HUMANITY, THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

Honestly, this post was unneeded. Swearing is only used if it suits the players' characters, and so it fits within roleplay. By playing on LOTC, you're supposed to expect this. Why? Because people swear in real life too! As strange as it may sound, not everything had to be covered in bubblewrap, and besides: you're on the internet. There's a ton of swearing here anyway, so OOC swearing shouldn't be a problem.

Furthermore, we already have murder, torture, and gore within roleplay. So why should swearing be a problem?

TL;DR Quit being so sensitive, and get back to roleplaying.

  4. Not a girl? There goes half of the community's fantasies.

But, yeah, if you lie about anything: why should should anyone trust you in a position of power? Personally, I couldn't care less. But I can see the reason for people's discontent.

TL;DR Untrustworthy due to lies, I cannot support

  5. Let's see, here...

    1) Smaller cities: this would encourage people to interact with eachother.

    2) More natural landforms: waterfalls, bays, arches, caves, etc.

    3) Less ugly buildings: regulations put in place to ensure that they stay the same style as surrounding structures.

    4) Newer members should be given as much help as possible, and so the "Guide" position should be reinstated in order to fully aid them.

    5) Less wars: people don't seem to understand how irregular wars are, and that nations should do all they can to avoid any and all conflict- rather than having a war declared every week. So, I don't know, maybe regulations on war declarations should be put in place.

  6. Raulin stumbles back over to his chair, in the tavern. Cradling his head in his hands as he rubs a still-healing scar on the back of his head, mumbling softly over to the well-endowed barmaid "Drink".

Looking back over his shoulder, Raulin cringes as sunlight from an opening door hits his eyes, turning back to look down at his ale. Raulin tips the tankard into his mouth, its thick contents sliding down its rim into his mouth.

His ears prick up as he hears the name "VonSchlichten", didn't he go by that name once? The last time he used it was when he had shipped off to sell some wine for his uncle, but ended up drinking it instead, and then falling off the side.

How many years had it been since that? Raulin had only filled the gaps with viscous ale, teaching young ones to read and write, and drinking even more ale. He hadn't returned to his home of Gallmore in years, and his only family was unheard from... Did he have family?

Sliding off of his splintered, wooden chair, Raulin shakily walks over to the door, muttering to himself with his palm outstretched "Gestahl... Mandru...". Pushing open the door, he falls onto the cobbled road of the settlement whose-name-he-could-never-remember, the flats of his hands grazing against the paving. Cursing silently to himself, he stands up, brushing the dust off of his dark, torn robes. He walks through the dirty streets, dirtied chamberpots emptied out of windows onto his boots as cries ringing out through the empty alleyways of both terror and laughter.

Scuffing his heels against the cobbles, Raulin sighs as he looks back at the settlement as he walks through its gates. "Blow me, that was some shite ale" he murmurs to himself.

((Sorry about this, wasn't too sure how to announce Raulin's return. Not too informed on what's happened in LotC so far, and I'll be back in 2+ weeks))

EDIT: Thanks so much, Helbolt. That was super helpful

  7. As you approach the VonSchlichten Distillery upon the lone island of Gallmore, you notice a small piece of paper nailed onto the distillery's door. Upon moving closer, you notice that the ragged piece of paper already has finely printed letters on the back of it. The paper has obviously been torn out of a book, no doubt taken from a nearby library... You begin to slowly read the scraggly-written words.

Uncles, I cannot wait on this island forever. I must find my father, Saul. By the time you have read this, I will have already boarded a trade-ship. I don't know where I will be going, or when I will be back. But I promise that I will return someday. I can only give you my thanks for the care you have given me, I will miss you both greatly. I must find my father!

    Raulin VonSchlichten.

    Son of Saul.

(Also, send my apologies to Celestria for ripping a page out of "A Hungry Bunny")

  8. Ooh, ja!

Lym is an amazing person, and has shown an undying dedication to the VAT. He constantly babysits Gemmy, which has proven to be a difficult job at times, but Lymmy sticks with it! . Lym has always shown himself to be both mature and level-headed, and he's helpful to everyone.

I'm surprised that he isn't a GM already!
