I don't care if it appears around my name or whatever, I just don't want ads.

The problem with most villains sounds like they become attached to their characters and want their characters to succeed more than they want to create a fun situation for everyone. Losing can be fun too.

I've designed my character with the intent of being a subtle villain in mind. On the last server I played on, there were far too few villains and everyone was a shining-paragon-beacon-of-white-knight-just-goodness in a contest for the most noble death. That doesn't seem to be the case here. My idea was to provide a fun, refreshing, villainous experience for people whilst improving my own roleplaying ability, but if everyone's sick of villains I may reconsider my character.

However, I've yet to apply for one, and I've just kind of been shuffling around pretending to be my character on a good day for the past few weeks, so it's really not too late to change. I'd still very much like to play the character I have in mind, but not if it's going to be a bother to anyone. According to the polls though, most people are only tired of cliche villains and bandits, so - How does this character sound as a villain:

- Avoids combat, using deceit and manipulation as a substitute

- Exploits the dark side of humanity (but not just humans) and regards himself as superior for not being weak.

By this I mean he would do something like offer Person A the options of saving Person B's life or Person A living the rest of his life in comfort. The idea is that Person A succumbs to his dark side and selfishly chooses the life of comfort while Person B dies. Alternatively, Person A chooses to save B and my character continues to test his alleged pure heart, which makes for an interesting plot all the same.

- Weaves his way into politics and positions himself in a prime spot, outside of the public eye yet in power.

- Eventually intends to recreate society, void of human weakness, but must destroy it first. Not quite sure about this one. I'm not going to actively strive for it, but it would be my character's goal.

- Criminal mastermind.

Tell me if there are already characters like this, or have been, because I'd either like to be original or not a villain at all.

I'm an experienced roleplayer of several years, and in the past year I’ve been exercising and practicing my roleplaying ability in Minecraft. I consider myself to be a fun person, I suppose. I very much like creating things, whether legos, sketches, literature, music, models, Minecraft worlds or stories through roleplaying.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

Typically I can be online every weekday, anywhere from 1-8 hours. It really depends on what is required of me that day, but I'm usually on at least a few hours.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.:

Roleplaying is acting as another person or character; playing their role. To me, roleplaying is playing a character you’ve created and making a story through the life of your character with other people, also playing characters.

In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are.

Metagaming is using OOC knowledge IC, for your benefit or others, and is frowned upon. Powergaming is forcing another character's action or response, or not allowing them to respond. This is usually done through actions in text, such as *Stabs Larakeith through hand* The proper alternative would be something along the lines of, *Thrusts knife towards Larakeith's palm* as this allows the other player to decide what happens to their palm.

What do you expect this server will be like?:

Realistically, I expect to find that there are fewer experienced roleplayers than I would like, and some poorly constructed player made buildings. However, in a large server there is a large player base, which means there will also be more experienced builders and roleplayers about as well. Also, the word on the street is that a new map is coming soon which would do away with old abandoned buildings, so I may be applying at a very opportune time.

Tales of Mel-Lenxia; dead, Nations at War; haven't left, various private servers with friends; only open for LAN parties.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, they seem just and fair.

How did you hear about us?: A friend, Lenlo. Well, actually I've known about this server since last summer via minecraft forum signatures, but it's fun to go with a friend. Many other friends of mine have also come to this server, so I figure it may be a good place to again establish myself.

Biography:

Age: 35

Appearance:

James is not particularly attractive. He has a full head of dark brown hair and a goatee or alternatively a vizier surround his lips. His facial features, in general, are sharp and defined. He is usually garbed in expensive clothing, favoring darks and blues, and is often seen with a shawl or a cloak. His eyes are also a deep blue. He conducts himself gracefully, his steps long and deliberate in nearly knee-high boots. James stands at 5’ 9”.

History:

Born to Harold and Leilin Sherwood, a strict, wealthy couple. Raised with two sisters, Ayael and Rellis. James had little contact with his father, who was often at work as successful enterprising merchant. Harold was disinterested in James. At age twelve James was sent to a sort of boarding school, where he excelled, and distanced himself from his peers and their petty schoolyard gossip. He continued his studies well into his twenties, favoring history, politics and science.

James learned his father’s success was due in part to criminal involvement. Harold had hired people to steal from competitors and run them out of business. Wishing to find the full story, James began acting as a detective. This began his career as a private investigator. He has since stopped taking contracts full time, and only employs his sleuthing skills when he finds it necessary.

After the destruction of Al’Khazar, James stayed at any inn he came across. Recently, the cloud temple Aegis was overcome, and James followed the masses to great ships as they prepared to leave their realm.

Personality:

Intelligent - James is an intelligent person. Some would say brilliant. An excellent memory, deductive mind and thorough education contribute to this. His frustration with society and questionable family history has caused him to channel his intellect toward organized crime and manipulation.

Self Righteous - A strong sense of superiority has pervaded James’ character for years, fed by society’s weaknesses. People would give up their freedom in exchange of the promise for a comfortable life, and he despises them for it.

Manipulative - A quick wit and quicker tongue have both gotten James in and out of trouble numerous times. He utilizes his smooth talking to get people to do his bidding. He persuades those of greater power and manipulates his lessers and peers. Bribery is not below him.

Your characters ambitions:

James strives for a position of power in which he can influence people and change the world. However, he dislikes society, and the changes he would make to the world may be distasteful.

Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do?

James analyzes the situation from a distance before deciding it is not worth his time to intervene, and continues walking. The elf is then overcome by the bandits and stabbed and thrown to the ground. The bandits strip him of valuables and clear the scene.

Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer?

Irked by the petty shopkeeper’s cheerful disposition on a troublesome day, James walks to the counter and places his hands on it at the extent of his arms in a gentle yet menacing manner, steepling his fingers against the woodwork and leans in. “What say we skip the pleasantries and you tell me if a young elf boy walked by here a moment ago.”

The shopkeeper in turn irked by James’ display of mild insolence, thought up a lie. “Nay,” he said. James silently placed a minas on the counter top, followed by four more. “You trying to bribe me?” James placed another five minas on the counter. The shopkeeper eyed the money. “Oh, come to think of it, a young boy did come by here before you...” he said as he scooped the money into his purse. “Not sure he was an elf though.”

“And which direction did he go?” The shopkeeper reached over counter and pointed down the road. James departed, and the shopkeeper wished he’d fished for another bribe.

Other Information: I understand I will need to apply for a villain application to be able to play my character properly, so I won’t be deceiving anyone until then, or using any other villainous attributes. In the event that my villain application does not pass, I will just have to re-create my character.

Also, the there doesn’t seem to be much available lore for Asulon, and I’m a bit confused. Is it going to be just a new map, and all the characters move there or are we expected to make new characters who’ve lived there all along? At present my character has lived in Al’Khazar, but I’d like him to be from Asulon, and I don’t know anything about it. Anyway, this biography is subject to change.
