    Character Name: Wesley

    What Race are you?: Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Halfling

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Immediately when I was born, my mother passed away, already leaving my father all of the responsibility over my older sister and I. His name was Nico. He had to farm and fish to feed the family and had always worked hard to keep us healthy and safe. Of course, he wasn't going to feed us until the day we all died. He knew we would one day be without him and so he taught me his wise methods of farming. Constantly, our crops and livestock were destroyed by un-dead creatures that would wander into our farm. That's why from time to time, my father would whip out the old wooden sword that he used to make me practice with.

We never knew what might happen if the creatures came too close, and we didn't want to find out. Unfortunately, we all knew the day would come when we would have to fight for our lives, I just didn't think it would have been so soon. When I was 10, it happened. It was all so fast. One second I was planting some melon seeds and the next, my sister Carla grabbed me and pushed me into the basement. I knew what was happening. I knew I should have stood up and fought along side with my family, but back then I was still a coward. I heard their screams that night and cried as I waited for the creatures to leave. I was weak, and even with my father's training, I was sure I could not keep myself alive, yet their screams echoed in my head until I vowed to live a full life and make it so that their sacrifices were not in vain. The creatures had eventually left after two days but completely wrecked my home and farm. I had nothing. I looked for anything that could still be used as I embarked on my journey to find a new home for myself, but found nothing other than the wooden sword my father gave me. But I left it behind. I am not skilled with blades and never thought I would be. The sword would bring too many bad memories as well, so with nothing but the clothes on my back, I headed down the roads of Asulon alone.

About a day after I had left, I was already exhausted and beginning to starve. Then I saw a figure walking in my direction. It was the first person that I encountered so far, and knew that I would have to beg for some food and water. He came up to me and right before I managed to speak, he saw the tears run down my cheeks and asked, "Dear boy, are you alright? Where are your parents?" He helped me up but I just fell back down on my knees. "The killed them!" I broke down and began to cry loudly. "The creatures! They killed my dad and sister! Please sir! Please help me! Please help m-" The man interrupted me by saying, "Don't worry child, I will care for you. I will provide you with what you need, as I should have with my own children before-" He stopped there. He never finished his sentence, nor ever spoke about his past with me again.

The man's name was Elden and he was a wise old man. He took me, a stranger into his home and fed me, bathed me, even comforted me. At one point he even handed me a wooden sword and told me he would teach me how to fight the creatures that had ruined my life, but I rejected. "I am not a good swordsman, nor will I ever be." I told him. "I am a farmer and don't plan on having to ever use one of those things in my life. I will be just fine without them." The man withdrew his sword and said, "You are a good child. Very young and yet so peaceful and terrified of standing up for yourself. Then allow me to show you my ways of self defense. It will help you protect your farm, and one day, your own children. Only to them you must teach them this understood?" Unclear and very curious of the situation, I agreed. Edwin thought me to be a better warrior. He helped me practice every night, using a sword that can not only be protect-full to those that I care for, but harmful to those that mean no good. He gave me the gift of protection. His teaching were not good enough to make me a skilled swordsman, but at least now I could manage to protect myself against certain enemies.

    Ten years later.

I am now 20 years old and have left Edwin. I am eternally grateful for everything he has done for me, but must not forget my promise. I am going to take care of myself, and stop relying on others to take care for me. I thank those who gave me the skill set that I now possess today, and will now use them to make myself a stronger person. I will venture off in search for a nice, peaceful area where I can make my home, and farm. There I plan to live with my wife, and eventually have children of my own to protect with my life.

What is your Character's ambitions?: To live a peaceful and simple life on his own farm, while protecting those who are dear to him by any means necessary.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): My character's favorite tool is his hoe for farming. He has always been familiar with it and has great memories of his old days farming.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? He is very skilled at farming

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

I see them from far away and at once, approach the scene. Just as Elden had saved me, I will save this helpless halfling. I lay my hand on my stone sword and walk up to the two men. "What do you guys think you're doing? Leave that man alone!" I shouted. They both look away from the halfling and glare at me. "An who the hell are you?" Yells one of the warriors as he pulls out his weapon. I run in between them and the halfling and take out my own sword. "Get out of here!" I tell the halfling. "Forget the money, just leave!" The small man gets up and limps down the road occasionally looking back. "You sure got a lot of guts, kid." The second man says. "Let's change that." I raise my sword as the warrior walks toward me. "Stop." Said the first man. "We got some money. No use wasting our blades on this loser." The men look at each other and then turn and leave the scene. Happy that I have protected a stranger and managed to avoid a deadly fight, I continue down my path.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Me - "Hello there. I'm in search of some nice land. would you perhaps know where I can get some?"

Merchant - "Hmmm... well I own a few deads to some small huts out in the wild if you're interested!"

Me - "No that won't do. I need somewhere perfect. Thanks for your time."

I would then proceed with my journey.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Upon seeing the sword, I will remember how my past was and would wonder if perhaps this poor family had suffered the same fate. I am unsure if it is truly abandoned, and don't want to make it any worse for someone who has yet to return. I decide to leave everything untouched and leave at once. It may not be the smartest choice for myself, but I cant help but imagine my younger self in that same, terrible situation.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Me - "Hello there! I am so glad to find you folks! You see, I have been lost in the forest and need something to eat, I beg of you!"

Traders - "Sorry, but we don't have much here, all we can afford to give you is this." And he presents me with half a pork chop.

Me - "You are right, it isn't much... but it will do thank you." I would take the meat and eat it immediately. I will need all the strength I could get until I could produce myself a decent meal.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

These guards have been protecting this town, and so they were protecting me, yet I would not take the job. Fighting is something that I have never enjoyed doing, and would avoid it in a situation like this. I may know how to use a sword, but I'm sure most people, especially a popular group of bandits, are stronger than me. However, I would help however I could by donating a bit of my bread to the soldiers, and some money to whomever manages to defeat the troublesome bunch.

It was then that Elden showed me something unbelievable. It was magic. He helped me practice every night, using spells that can not only be peaceful, but harmful to those that mean no good. He gave me the gift of protection. I was very talented with magic and unlike the sword, I set my mind to master it.

    Ten years later.

Just as Elden had saved me, I will save this stranger. I would cast whichever non-lethal spells I could in order to get the warriors to flee. I would then check up on the small halfling and make sure he is safe to continue his journey, offering my own assistance if it was needed.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

These guards have been protecting this town, and so they were protecting me. I would accept their offer and use whatever bit of magic I know to try and eliminate those bandits, bringing along hired fighters to aid me in battle. After the dead is done I would collect my reward and share it with my assistants. Yet the fact that I am protecting others would be a good enough reward for me.
