  1. If you are born with a deformed nose that causes you deep emotional stress the government (In Canada) will pay for your surgery.

If you are born with a mental disorder that causes you deep emotional stress the government (In Canada) will pay for your treatment.

It's not plastic surgery. It's 'mutilating your genitals' in the same way a skin graph is 'mutilating your body.' It is helping you live. It makes you healthy and able to function properly.

And, Bruce Jenner is one person out of many people who are transgender. You can't take a look at one person and say 'Oh, it's obvious not a need cause he went to the Olympics and helped create that dime Kendall.' It's certainly a need for others, where they will never be happy or commit suicide if they don't do anything for it, and perhaps it is not as much of a need for some people, where they could probably function without gender reassignment, albeit not so happy. But I don't think anyone wants to go through that level or stress.

Why should I have to pay for other peoples stress relievers though? If it's causing them so much stress, wouldn't that just be more of an incentive for them to work hard and fix their problems? Everyone has issues, I don't believe the government should have enough control to comfort everyone to the point where are taxes are through the roof, like the situation in Canada right now. Our tax money could go to other health issues that are an actually physical need, like my asthma I mentioned earlier, but even then I don't support government healthcare.

I don't think anybody would want to go through anything that being transgender makes you go through. The gender reassignment or hormones or whatever are their 'cure.' So it makes perfect sense for the government to fund their treatment, right? Gonig off the assumption that you are living in a civilized country with universal healthcare ( :^) )

Make the context of this to 'grossed out by black people.'

Transgender people want those surgeries, there's no other real explanation. A need is something that is necessary to survival my friend, and I don't consider genital mutilation something they need to survive. If I felt I was born with the wrong nose, I could make the same 'cure' argument to argue that the government should pay for my plastic surgery. But it isn't right, because wanting a new nose is a want, same as wanting a new gender, and that's something you should pay for yourself. I have severe asthma and many of the tests and medication I actually NEED cost me and my family money out of our own pockets, yet trans get there genital mutilation paid for with my tax money. A cure would be something that you need to survive, or something that makes you vastly healthier and able to function and work. I've seen people like Bruce Jenner do fine before they changed gender, so obviously it isn't a need.

You have a good point with the black people argument, but never the less, I'm still grossed out by trans, and I don't think I'm a bad person because of it. I can't change that fact, but I could understand why some trans people would hate me for it, but that's fine by me.

  3. I still disagree with how the state handles marriage(in Canada and America), and am unsure of why anyone would want to get married with the other laws surrounding marriage. See Ron Paul's stance on marriage for my opinion on the whole thing, it's silly that the government should have so much control. I'm very right wing and have always supported gay marriage and equal rights, because I support freedom, even with the above stated. I see no logical reason for gays not to get married like everyone else. Now, those were my more political views on the subject, but my personal view on gays is, well, they never seem to have a problem living up to stereotypes. I'm sure there are some gay people out there I would be chill with, but every one I've met so far is just... Annoying.

For some reason the subject of trans was brought up, and again I'm conservative, so I support their freedom to do whatever they want as long as you aren't hurting others. However, what I'm very against, is the state(in Canada not sure about USA) paying for the mutilation surgeries these people get. Why? I'm against government healthcare overall, but was especially pissed about this. It isn't a need, it's a want. Why should my tax money go towards what these people want? It would be the same if the government started paying for cosmetic surgery or something, if you don't need it, GTFO and pay for it yourself. Also, me not wanting to be around you because you're trans is just as natural to me as you wanting to be another gender. I feel as if I was born being grossed out, so don't start discriminating against me for not wanting to be around you, I'm just grossed out by you and have been since I was a child.

That's the way you'll work now and work later on if you think following the mass makes you mature or right.

(( Ps: not a personal grudge to you, just annoyed with how people just follow the mass instead of thinking for themselves. #Humanity = 99% hivemind ))

  6. I never use TS for this exact reason, hardly on Skype either. Then again I'm also hardly ever on the server...

Anyways, OOC influence will always be apparent in RP. It is simply easier to act OOC'ly, especially if you are in a leadership position. Is it right? Hell no. Is it a good way to gain status OOC'ly, and RP'ly on the server? Hell ya. I find new players the most fun to RP with because they seem to have the least OOC bias, but eventually vets will break them in to our OOC culture here.

EDIT: Heff you should definitely 'pull a Petry'.

  7. Rep was pretty terrible, it encouraged flaming and I could go on about the negatives of it but I already have a topic on that. Glad it is basically removed now. The only argument against removing rep is "m-muh online points". Status updates were very useful. Advertising, asking questions, and other fun stuff were all good things that came from status updates. Nobody really takes status drama seriously anyways.
