  2. I mean why not just mages instead of making it complicated? Not like you and you are the best PvPers get the enchanted weapons, but like the mages get them so they can accuarelty show their ability and still kick ass. I've played on many PvP servers, and I won't lie, enchanted weapons make a bigger difference then most people think against normal weapons.

  3. Then shall we do that? Judging by who shows up at the battle, a GM can go to each side and give enchanted weapons to the mages on both sides who are capable of that? I bet most of the weapons will turn up because any idiot who tries to hide an enchanted weapon for no reason will just be banned when it is found.

Edit: We cannot simply kill guys on wim. We don't have as many people as some people think. We got the new nation of Telemar and some mercs by the sounds of it. People shouldn't just be killed but should have a chance in a battle against enchanted weapons or whatever.

  4. One thing in all this is obvious. We need a solution to the problem of magic users given the proper advantages. They have 15 magic users to be used in battle. We have 6-8 orcs and mages who can be used in the battle. Say 5-10 of the magic users get enchanted weapons on the High Elf side while we get nothing. Does that not make it more fair?

  5. There are more then 3-4 orcs plus the mages. Yes, maybe when you add it all up you guys have 5 more players with an advantage. Would it then be possible to give 5 of your guys enchanted weapons in order to solve this? 16 pages have gone over this, and this is just about the only issue left. As bigsnxxy said, we can't halt RP for months at a time, and this is a temporary solution.

  6. While you do make a point, mages don't have to do 5 emotes to do magic in PVP. Just as you swing a sword in 2 emotes in a RP fight you do magic in 3 emotes. In PVP you just click, in PVP a mage doesn't emote 3 things, a fireball just happens. Fundamentally throwing lightning down on someone at a distance, illusioning an army, hurling a boulder along with other magical things are distance things and arrows are not an adequate reason to dismiss magic. Realistically as they fire arrows a mage in a tower will throw lightning.

It is also notable I believe a siege in 2 WCs is desired as realistically you don't march to a city, jump the wall and take everything. Walls serve a purpose.

Bgnsxxy pointed out he wanted a list of mages. While I've given him a list of mages already I'll note it is impossible for the high elves to simply 'get T5 mages'. That doesn't happen, there is a system so you don't have to worry about that. In addition, the high elven mages themselves are realistically not going to be the only ones present.

As Kalameet pointed out, examples of the nation's mages and why their four mages match up to Haelun'or's 20 would be... somewhat desired. I'd also like to know if you at all object to the proposed system we had with random removals before the battle so magic came into account.

Finally I'll ask: Where is the Kingdom of Telemar?

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to dismiss mages. Each group has certain advantages and disadvantages. For example we have orcs who would take out 3-4 people in combat yet cannot due to PvP. You guys have mages who normally could take out 3-4 people but cannot because of PvP. Waiting months for one side to get a plugin in their advantage will not solve this. We could however give the orcs and mages enchanted weapons to make their abilities more realistic, or we can PvP the battle normally with both sides cancelling out advantages.

The Kingdom of Telemar is the new name for the Kingdom of Holm. The main section is located in the wilds with various islands and sections out of the wilds.

  7. @Lago: We are infact a nation, and Viper is setting up a sub forum for us when he gets back on.

@Miniscule: Because it can take a very very long time for the plug in to come out, for the bugs to get fixed, and the war claim to get set up. There are solutions to the problem where we won't have to wait 3-4 months for a plugin. There is even a chance by then 4.0 comes out. In 3-4 months a lot of our characters could be dead. In 3-4 months our reasons for this attack may no longer be viable.

  8. I might just want to point out that Arya left Caln before she was captured.

She actually had a relationship with a Dark Elf (Cole, played by Cloakedsphere) between her leaving Caln and being captured.

Which you are lucky he doesn't know about IC :P. Also another reason for Telemar is the need for mainland. Expansionist kingdom. Just another side reason.

  9. You're immediately assuming two big things. The first that a mage needs to have as much visibility as your standard bowman. THey don't however. A simple slit, large enough for them to see their target, would be more than enough. Come to think of it, they don't even need line of sight. They simply have a spotter give them the range, then evocate fireballs in the sky above that rough area.

The second is that magic is a close-range ability, when it is not. The rule tends to be that magic users are weaker at close distances. It's typically played out that the inverse is true. Most mages cannot stop that sword screaming towards their neck, but they can immolate any attackers at quite a distance.

Of course, I'd also like to mention how that those arrowwounds that can stop a mage probably won't apply to your swordsman.

Hypothetically that might be true, but there aren't very many slits in the wall. What I mean to say is if this RP actually happened, and if the emotes were done during a battle then yes it would be possible. The thing is there are not a lot of other solutions. Maybe enchanted bows could work as a substitute.

Firstly, that is false. 90% of the Pvp battles on the server are based around two groups MCly running at each other... Secondly, I'd like to see what Tier your Mages are, as I know you're only but a Tier 1 water Mage, who is capable of sprinkling me with water, then passing out. I feel we should wait for the plugin, as patience is a virtue.

Have you been to any castle seiges? It is literally people running around shooting each other, and the last two minutes the survivors swordffighteach other. You are right for an open battle but not for a seige. Our most powerful mage (I believe) is Elindor who is a T5 Illusionist, T4 telekenitic, and a T2 void translocator. I am by far the weakest of the mages (T2 now BTW) and am not trying to match the High Elf mages. I am putting across the idea that we have mages as well just as you have swordsmen. Though the ratio of mages to swordsmen is off, the disadvantages you are facing we have as well. Orcs will not be able to rip off the wooden gate nor kill 4 people as they should just as your T5 mages should be able to which we can solve with the enchanted weapons.

Edit: One of the responses saved in the quote for some reason. Its at the bottom of the top one.

  10. Alright then, going to come out with the full plan and back story since a lot of people are questioning it. First off, Adolf is not the only one with a hatred towards the High Elves. Caln McHarnish, my character and king of the main nation attacking, lost his fiancée to the High Elves when they imprisoned her and brainwashed her to never love him again. The orcs well everyone pretty much knows their reason. They are in it for slaves and loot. The mercs are in it for the coin. That covers every group involved on our side so let me head on to the next point.

95% of battles in LotC are taken place where both sides stand 100-150 blocks away and lob arrows and catapults at each other. During this whole time, only maybe a T5 evocationist might be able to get their element that far at the other person. This also causes a lot of tiredness for the mage. This isn't a 1 v 4 close up battle where a mage can destroy people close up. In huge battles like this, a mage dies like any other person when a huge rock or arrow hits them. I guarantee half to two thirds of your mages will be killed from arrows and rocks before we even consider storming the walls.

I agree though mages should not be left completely powerless. I bet you would be surprised to know we have 4 mages of our own plus whatever shamans come to the battle with the orcs. Since magic can only be used from a relatively close distance mages should get enchanted swords baser on their tiers. I know this system is not perfect, but the High Elves also have some advantages as well. I doubt RPly a lot of the mages are trained well with a bow yet I have no doubt nor problem during a battle they would be shooting one. If 53% of your people stand there on the walls casting spells with several emotes of RP then that is another story, but it won't happen. Mostly because by then they would have 100 arrows in them. It is a system that is fair and reflects magic users more accurately.

We cannot wait for the magic plugin because it will take a solid month or two in order to finish. Chances are a plug in like that will glitch which adds 2-4 weeks. Plus the time for the warclaim to get set up adds another 2-4 weeks. Obviously things shift in RP by then and is essentially using OOC to affect IC.

On the off chance that we do win, the Kingdom of Telemar will intact take over the city. We are not mercs and can hold a city for those confused on that. Malinor was seiged by Oren in one battle, and they have 3 times the land. It makes no sense to have multiple battles for land that is right around the city.

As for the sneak attack. I see the High Elf's points on that and agree it should be removed. They have viable reasons.

I suggest an IC council meeting happens just as we did when Furnestock almost attacked us. Chances are the battle might not even happen if it works out. I am sorry to those of you who haven't gotten good RP from this. We recently joined in, and I am hoping to create some fun RP from this. Just yesterday we kidnapped a High Elf (for reasons found IG ;)), and it was some very fun RP. I hope to do this for the rest of the High Elves so this can be done with good hearts.

Edit: Also, this talk about PKing the High Elves as hogwash. If we win, you guys are free to regroup elsewhere or play as orcish slaves which I can assure you is actually some really fun RP.

((Done on my phone. Sorry for the grammar mistakes))
