    @Lark

I remember you! How've things been? I still have that magic sword of yours from Kralta

Waaait... I think that I remember you! If you are who I think you are, that is. Were you the one who bought the sword from Kralta and the person who I kept trying to angle the sword for whenever it was drawn? That feels like sooo long ago.

I'm good, but I haven't role-played in a few years, so I'm pretty rusty and a bit anxious to get back into it...

Long time no see Natalie!!!! Aside from Kralta being...leauges below underwater you could play a Graven...and find Lark ?

Hi Lark! I guess that Kralta was abandoned when you moved map since then? The "graven" word also stands out to me, but I don't know what that is entirely right now, so I'll have to at least look into that ?

Thank you all for the warm welcome back, I'll probably try to figure out what to do with my old characters first and see if I can salvage either of them from old screenshots or posts since I don't actually have any skins or descriptions from back then on my new computer ?

  2. Hi everyone

It's been a few years, but remembering about this place and having nothing better to do right now made me feel like stopping by again, buuut... I'm having issues figuring out what's happened with the overarching storyline since somewhere around mid-2014. Has anything happened that would stop me from picking up an old character or anything like that?

It's also very nice to see that there are still a lot of people from back then ☺️

  3. MC Name: Lady_Natalie
Did you ever have a character with magic?: N/A, though I have role-played as a possessed, magical sword!
Are you aware the rules of Magic: Yes!
    Skype: Nattiebearrauw

    Name: Alyssa Lavira
    Age: 73
    Gender: Female
    Race: High Elf
What would you like to learn?: I'm interested in taking survival courses, though I'm mostly looking to help the academy with gathering resources, and crafting items (Adept miner, proficient blacksmith)
Which Class(es) are you enrolling for?: Azel's classes
  4. Neerala has, with countless of hours spent on chopping down trees, decided to give away free logs to help out others' causes, seeing as she doesn't have any use for them herself! If you happen to be interested in some of these supplies, all you have to do is leave her a message including the following information:

    • (OOC) What's your IGN?
    • How many stacks will you be needing?
    • Which organisation will these logs benefit?

( Currently have about ~24000 logs left that I'll be giving away, but of course I won't be giving it all away to just one person, so please be reasonable. :3 )

PM me in-game when you wish to meet up! (See under profile picture)

  5. Few, scattered posters are seen around the cloud temple, reading out in clear handwriting:

"Darkie, known only to speak simplified Blah, looking to aid a good cause with her expertise in woodcutting. She's willing to work for free, granted that she's not ordered around constantly, and is treated properly. Neerah holds few grudges, and has no qualms with working for - and with - other races.

Contact is preferred to be made in person, as the subject cannot actually read."

The letter appears to have been signed with a red cross at the very bottom, perhaps being an attempt at a signature. It's fair to assume that the Mali'ker has received help from the outside to write the letter, judging by the unusual attention to detail.

    [OOC]

Dedicated lumberjack just looking to help out, recently hit masterful (150K XP) and wishing to be of use to others!

  6. Neerala scratches her cheek, eyeing down one of the posters carefully, "... I'm pretty sure I've got one of these myself-- I should sell it." She nods, coming back a couple minutes later with a drawing of the same exact staff, waving around the actual staff for good measure, ensuring people that she's actually got one and isn't trying to pull a hoax.

(I've got the same staff if anyone's interested, like the second highest bid or something. I'm online right now - PM Lady_Natalie)

The posters, all alike the one above, have been distributed throughout the lands of Oren; whoever put them up clearly didn't want this to go unnoticed, or perhaps they just really wanted to get rid of the item in a hurry.

The Sword of Aestus has now found its way to the kingdom of Oren, more specifically the blacksmith known as Raevir Steel located in Kralta. Its past lies untold, and as a result it has been regarded as a mere longsword having found itself lost on the battlefield, abandoned by its previous owner. The sword was last recovered from a highwayman whos hands were still wrapped tightly around the hilt upon discovery, the blade having carved all the way through the unfortunate soul's body and into the log of a tree by the road leading through to Abresi.

Previous rumours had it that the highwayman had previously been seen communicating with the sword, but the claim was withdrawn after several attempts to communicate with the blade, leaving most to disregard their nonsensical ramblings. Really, who'd ever believe in such witchcraft?

The sword itself is embellished with various markings of different origins, but whilst they greatly improve the looks of the sword they serve no real purpose. The sword itself has but two abilities, they being the following:

    [Lore approved - sword attributes]:

The sword has been granted the ability of speech, but will only communicate with the wielder whenever it is unsheathed, whereas if sheathed will become entirely mute. The wielder may also find that the sword will attempt to imitate their speech patterns, as well as their attitude. It should be noted that the Sword of Aestus does not have any pre-existing vocabulary, and won't speak before sufficient knowledge of the wielder's tongue has been accumulated. The sword's attitude, knowledge, and speech pattern will also reset if seperated from the wielder for more than two elven weeks.

The sword's weight, usability, and sharpness would depend on the wielder's abilities, thus rendering it completely useless in the hands of someone without any fundamental combat experience. If wielded by say, something along the lines of a weathered, fierceless brute, the sword would gradually adjust itself to suit their style of combat correspondingly. It would of course require much caution, and time, for this process to be complete, seeing as the likelihood of the sword switching wielder is more than likely to occur if word gets out about this mysterious armament.

As time progresses the sword will either bond with the wielder, or if constantly kept sheathed, become unreliable and attempt to get rid of the wielder by dulling itself whenever the oppertunity strikes. Of course, seeing as nobody would know this in-character the second turnout is the most probable as the user will undoubtedly attempt to keep it a secret if they happen to be lucky enough to discover its true abilities. I mean, who wouldn't want a sword that impersonates you?

Also, while it may seem that the sword's only means are to help its wielder, it secretly has an entirely different goal with its existence.

    [THE ITEM HAS BEEN SOLD]
  8. Lynthia carefully kneels down to closely inspect the poster, barely able to keep herself from squealing in excitement as she'd remind herself of how the people in Kralta would respond towards something like this. "D'awh..." she sighs, steadily making her way back home again, disappointed.

  9. If the idea persists as is, I don't have any major issue. However, a sword adjusting to the user's preference wouldn't grant a massive advantage over the opponent.

I do have another question, how long does it actually take the blade to alter to the user's preference?

It would depend entirely on how often the blade's used in combat as it would have to learn their various combat patterns, but if it's specifics you're looking for then I'd say somewhere between 4-7 days (OOC) if the wielder is someone who frequently makes use of the weapon. This is debatable though as the process might be too slow / quick.

Also, I could adjust the sword's abilities if you feel that it's necessary, in case it's imbalanced (also implying if it's underpowered).

  10. -1

Can't tell if any effort has been put into the application, and after having gone through your post history it doesn't really seem you're suited as a forum moderator.

Why should you be a forum moderator?: You should choose me to be a forum moderator because even though i'm not particularly active on the forums at this time it will give me something to strive for and will help me continue to be active.

That statement doesn't help a whole lot either, and makes you sound incredibly unreliable.

  11. A very nice read, and I think it would be interesting lore to see implemented. How is this insanity caused, though? What kind of process would you use in RP to make that happen?

Whenever the sword is unsheathed, as in whenever it's in its active state, it will

through to you which will eventually drive the character insane. The process could easily take years, but since a year in-game equals the same as two weeks in real life it wouldn't drag out all too much. I guess some additions could be added to this, like the wielder being able to picture the  past wielders' last moments, or something like that.
