What magic(s) will you be teaching?:

    Fire Evocation

Summarise the Lore of this magic(s):

Fire Evocation, like any other Evocation, or any Voidal practice, begins with training the pupil to connect to the void, often spending days at a time simply studying the void, which requires one’s thoughts to become null, silence filling their mind as they focused on what they know of the void, slow, steady breaths, a quiet environment, and intense focus bring success. Through connecting they gradually strengthen their mana pool over time, each time gradually increasing it. A pupil begins to connect more and more often, as often as they want, and are tasked with staying connected for longer periods of time each time, whilst doing this, they often read, experiment, and discover more and more about Fire, Smoke, and Heat, the fundamentals of this particular magic. The Student begins to gradually deepen their knowledge on both the void, and the core mechanics of Fire in its entirety, after about an elven week of study and practice, the student will have studied enough of the Flame to attempt their first attempt at casting, having hopefully strengthened their mana pool enough to not bring any drastic side effects. The Student would find a quiet environment, perhaps a nice spot in nature, or an enchanted, soundproofed room, and would think on what they’ve studied, clearing their mind and allowing their thoughts to become null, except for the fundamentals of Fire, it’s core being, heat, smoke, and flame. They’d proceed to connect to the void, and begin creating a small, candle-sized flame within their mind, and upon opening their eyes would focus on a point, some mages focus upon their palm, or for some, between both their hands, it matters not. The Student would then put their remaining mana and focus into bringing this flame into being, but being a beginner, the flame would likely only flicker into our world for but a moment before the Student would feel their connection severed, and intense exhaustion, perhaps even close to passing out. After this attempt, the student would proceed to memorize everything there is of fire, the sound it makes, the smell it has, the heat it exudes, and the power of the element, making sure it is seeded within their minds for as long as they live. The Student would, whilst continuing to memorize, begin to try casting more and more often, over the course of an elven week or two, they’d eventually be able to create a decently sized flame, and after even longer, would learn to become morphing this fire into shapes, say, a fireball, or such, and would also grow to have more control over the temperature of the flame. The Students mana pool has quite obviously begun to become sufficient, each connection and cast made strengthening it, but it of course, everything has its toll. The prolonged casting, connections, and use of the Void would have quite majorly taken its toll on the Mage, muscle strength having deteriorated.

    To sum this up:

Tier 1: The student focuses on studying and connecting to the void, whilst also studying the heat, smoke, and flame of the element, strengthening their mana pool and getting more attuned to connection over time, near the ending stages of T1 to early T2, the student will attempt to create their first flame.

Tier 2: This is the stage where either they’ve just cast their first flame, and have begun becoming a bit more attuned to the Void, and will continue to study and memorize the core workings of Fire and the Void, continuing to strengthen their mana pool and knowledge. Near the ending time period of this tier, the student will most likely attempt to begin molding the fire into a ball-like shape.

Tier 3: This is the stage where the student has become attuned enough to the void, and grown his/her mana pool enough to avoid the nasty exhaustion side effects, this doesn’t of course mean they can keep their fire out very long, but they have an easier time bringing the fire into being and can begin practicing molding the fire into a ball-like shape. Near the ending time period of this tier, the student will have begun coming attuned to molding their flame, and find their mana pool considerably sized. In the middle time period of this tier, the student will have become more independent and will simply report progress to their teacher as well.

Tier 4: This is the stage where the mage has grown their mana pool enough to cast with ease and without many drawbacks, and has practiced evoking the flame and molding it into many different shapes. This is the tier considered to be properly independent, and where most Teachers stop teaching, as they aren’t able to give anymore knowledge.

Tier 5: This is the final tier of any magic, and for Fire Evocation it allows the beginning of experimentation of combining Fire Evocation with other magics, along with using such things as Smoke Evocation and Heat Evocation, and even Blue Fire.

Write up a lesson that your character would give to a student:

Leyu Ward, the rather short elfess who doesn’t at all look qualified to be teaching, would usher her Student into the room, pointing for them to sit on a small cushion on the ground, whilst Leyu began to circle around the student with her arms behind her back. She’d eventually stop before her student and nod to him. “Now, you’ve been practicing, I hope, and have been connecting as I requested?” She’d say, awaiting a response.

“Yes, I have.” He’d say in response with a nod, sitting cross-legged with hands on his knees.

“Good, then you know what’s next for you, yes?” She’d say, as he nodded, she’d continue. “Right, now, you’ve been studying the Smoke, Flame, and Heat of the element, and have been practicing connecting to the Void to grow your mana pool, now..It is time to test your knowledge..I want you to cast a flame.” She’d state simply, dead-faced as she looked at her student.

“But..I..Don’t know how?” He’d say with a raised brow.

“Of course you do, what did I teach you? I taught you that your mind is your canvas, just as it was taught to me by my teacher, and this canvas bears infinite possibilities, it is up to you of what this canvas makes. Now, close your eyes, connect to the void, and focus on everything you’ve learned, everything about Fire, and I want you to envision a small, candle-sized fire, floating in an endless abyss, and once you have this fire envisioned, I want you to open your eyes, focus on the palm of your hand, and will this fire into being.” She’d say, blank-faced as ever as she waited.

“Alright.” He would nod in return, before closing his eyes and gradually slowing his breathing, an aura of intense focus surrounding the man as his thoughts became null, envisioning this blank canvas of which he was taught to use, several beads of sweat beginning to trickle down his face as his ear twitched, as sign of visible connection, he’d remain seated with closed eyes for a few moments, as he painted this flame within his mind, before his eyes slid open, the sweating intensifying as he began to will this fire into being in his very own palm, after a few moments the candle-sized flame would flicker into being, just above his palm, a wide grin spreading across his face as he became satisfied, but his growing exhaustion growing too much to bear as sweat poured down his face, the flame flickering out of existence as he was now panting, his connection lost.

Leyu, normally blank-faced, allowed a small smile to slide across her expression at her students progress. “Good, good..Now, once you’ve rested, I want you to practice connecting and evoking fire more and more, I expect results.” She’d say, the smile having vanished as she began to walk off towards her office, leaving the exhausted student behind.

I'm a Fire Evocationist, rather masterful at enchanting, and I also practice woodworking. I'm the curator of a library, as well.
