Those who had the ability to maintain peace and stability within a realm's borders, and secure their frontiers.. And the question that has always intrigued me regarded what makes a great ruler; what traits are preferable, and what are frowned upon? I must admit that an adequate answer might never be provided, but principles remain persistent."

    Armia Pasnia

The Pasnian people are renowned not for only their rich culture, but also for their battle prowess, with their renowned winged-hussars leading the charge. The formal and professional armed forces of Pasnia was formed under King Staszak, known as the unifier and pious for having successfully unified the Pasnian people under one banner instead of scattered, warring clans. With the re-organizing of his and the other Pasnian peoples clans into a more modern society, he wisely saw the need for a properly trained armed force to protect their borders.

    Hussars

The Winged-Hussars of the Pasnian culture are the greatest heavy infantry and cavalry which the Pasnians possess, taking on an equivalent position of a feudal knight. Members of the Hussar force are chosen directly by the Magnate himself and often serve as his personal bodyguards. Hussars are also members of the Szlachta class, enjoying all its privileges.

    Maximum of four members.

    Pasnite Cavalry

The Pasnians inhabit plains and light woodlands it is expected of each Pasnian to learn how to ride at a young age to cover the most territory, some as low as 3 have already learned horse mastery. As such the Pasnite cavalry maintains a high standard of performance from all of their members. They serve as scouts and rangers during peacetime to keep the Pasnian borders safe.

Their standard equipment is plate armour, lances and szablas.

    Pasnite Archers & Heavy Infantry

The Pasnite Heavy Infantry and Archers are perhaps a minority in the Armia, as they are the only ones which do not maintain horses, nevertheless they serve as the main line in any battle formations the Pasnians form. Their role is also important during peacetime as they are tasked with guarding and maintaining the peace in Pasnite settlements and cities.

Due to their often limited numbers they are given the second best armor (Behind the Hussars) as it is cheaper to arm them than the Pasnite cavalry, which uses speed and mobility to their advantage regardless. Therefore only the best armour and weapons are given to the Infantry. They are armed with Plate, Szablas, Pikes and Crossbows/Bows

They may serve as auxilliary cavalry.

    The Oath

During the initiation ceremony, every Rekrut must pledge an oath that accompanied the Pasnian people for many centuries, no man or woman may dismiss this Oath at any time or any circumstance, with the single exception of saving the Magnate’s life at risk.

“I pledge my life and loyalty to the Magnate of Pasnia,

To uphold the good name of Pasnia and protect all it stands for,

In the name of God, Almighty, the Magnate and Pasnia  I fight,

    For the Fatherland raised me,

To it I pledge my service.

For God, Honor, and Homeland. Huzzah!”

    The Ranking System

The Chain of Command is the core system of the Army, for without it chaos rages with no authority and discipline.

    Hetman

    • Promotion and Demotion of all soldiers at will.

    • Taking the responsibilities of vacant roles at will.

    • Flexity of military rules and laws.

    • Carrying out verdicts regarding corruption, disloyalty and state crimes.

    Regimentarz

The Regimentarz is appointed by the Hetman, and serves as his second in command; a trusted advisor and an assistant in all martial affairs.

    Veteran Pocztowy

A Veteran Pocztowy is a soldier who has proven himself on several occasions as a well-disciplined and skilled warrior. Although not holding direct command over those below them in the structure, they’re often tasked with assisting patrol leaders and enforcing discipline within the Army.

    Pocztowy

A Pocztowy is the standard soldier, making the bulk of the force. They are tasked with basic missions such as guarding, joining patrols, standing in line and introducing new recruits into the standards of the Pasnian Army.

    Equipment:

    Szabla:

These light Pasnian sabers of fine craftsmanship serve as a primary weapon for infantry and cavalry alike, and is casually worn by Pasnian nobility. The Szabla has a large significance in Pasnian culture and serves as a symbol of national Freedom, the blade which maintains the freedom of the Pasnian people in their land. The Szabla excels at slashing and has a significant ability to pierce through mail and even plate armor.

    Hussar Lance:

The Lance used by the Winged Hussars, proves highly efficient to support the task of the Pasnian Cavalry in battle. The Lance excels at thrusting through armor, making it the ideal weapon for a cavalry charge.

    Pike:

    Crossbow:

The Crossbow is used as the primary ranged weapon in the Pasnian Army. Although slower to load than a bow, its piercing force and accuracy prove deadly.

    Halberd:

A Halberd is a two-handed pole weapon that recently came to prominent use in the Pasnian Army, especially by Levy forces. The halberd consists of an axe blade topped with a spike mounted on a long shaft. It always has a hook or thorn on the back side of the axe blade for grappling mounted combatants. The halberd is usually 1.5 to 1.8 metres long.

Thirty years have passed since the infamous and controversial Courland refugee crisis.

For thirty years the Staunton family lay dormant, waiting. Waiting to take revenge upon the people that betrayed them, lied to them and inevitably, slaughtered them.

Courland is not just a person, it is not just a land, it isn’t even just a name. It is an idea. You can take away people, you can take away land, you can take away their name, but you cannot take away thoughts.

On the 5th of the First Seed, 1593, it was a cool and temperate Orenian day. There was a gentle breeze.

The guards spotted a group approaching, nodding to each other. This was a time that they had been waiting for. They raised the gates as a large force galloped into the keep, led by a younger, dark haired man.

The purple and black flag was lowered as a new, all too familiar green and black flag was raised. The Revolution had come to the city of Krakow. The Houses of Staunton, Roswell and Staszak were ready.

    “Bóg, Honor, Ojczyzna”

God, Honor, Homeland. These are the three words that identify the patriotic, honorable and God-fearing people of Pasnia. Far from their homeland, the last remnants of the once great Pasnian Kingdom continue to uphold the legacy of their ancestors; and like their forefathers they now wander the lands in search for a new homeland where they could prosper and live in peace.

    History:

    Prosperity and peace:

The history of the Pasnian people is near ancient, and could be traced as far as the days prior to the rise of Prophet Horen and the Canonist Faith. It is said that one of the ancient Harrenic tribes, a small nomad tribe named “Pasn” once wandered the lands in search for a homeland. Eventually, under the leadership of the Chieftain Krakus the Founder the people of Pasn settled in the plainlands north-east to the lands of Oren which they named “Pasnia ” after their tribe. The first settlement of the tribe in the lands of Pasnia was named “Kraków”, after their Chieftain. In Pasnia , the tribe developed a peaceful agricultural society and slowly began to flourish. Two centuries later with the arrival of several Canonist Missionaries, King Staszak the Pious who was then the chieftain of Pasnia , accepted the faith of the Canon and began the conversion process of his people. In addition to his conversion, King Staszak also found the Kingdom of Pasnia with City of Kraków as the Capital City, and established the dynasty of Staszak, which lives on to these very days. Under the successors of King Staszak the Kingdom continued to flourish and grow; new settlements such as Warszawa, Poznań and Gdańsk were established and the Capital of Kraków became a center for art, culture and trade.

    "The Bloody Wars":

But the era of peace did not last forever, as the then pagan Raevir neighbors had set their eyes on the wealthy lands of Pasnia for many years, which they strongly desired. Under the period of three different Kings, the soldiers of Pasnia bravely faced the Raevir raiders in battle, until the battle of Poznań in which King Bolesław I the Victor was able to defeat the bulk of the Raevir forces, and then sign a peace treaty with the hostile coalition of tribes. This long and internecine series of conflicts became commonly known as the “Bloody Wars” in which the Kingdom of Pasnia emerged victorious but at a devastating cost. Following the war, the Kingdom was left shattered: generations of young men were erased and buried, villages and farm fields were burnt down and abandoned, and poverty became common amongst nobility and peasantry alike.

    Decline and fall:

In the last years in King Bolesław I’s reign the Kingdom began to rebuild the ruins. However, following the death of King Bolesław I the Brave he was succeeded by his firstborn son, King Leszek the Idle. King Leszek the Idle cared little for the affairs of the State, which he left for his uncle, Casimir I to deal with. Due to the King’s indifference, many amongst the nobility in the realm decided to take advantage of the King’s weakness and the poverty caused by the “Bloody Wars”, and began demanding more lands, rights and authority from the Monarch which he was barely able to grant. With the continuous growth of power for the nobility, several pretenders to the throne rose; including Casimir I himself. To restore order in the Realm, Casimir I decided to take on a radical solution - he imprisoned the King and forced him to abdicate to claim the throne for himself. As King, Casimir I was able to issue several reforms which reduced the influence of nobility and restored some stability to the Kingdom. However, near the end of Casimir’s short reign a deadly plague from an unknown origin hit on the Kingdom, and swiftly erased nearly three-quarters of the already contracted realm’s population. After the plague, the Kingdom never managed to recover as pagan invaders began raiding and pillaging Kingdom’s countryside again. The people of Pasnia were now forced to abandon their homeland and flee south to find shelter in the Kingdom of Oren, where they remained to this very day.

    Military and Warfare:

    Levy Militia:

Like most armies the Pasnian Military primarily relied on its feudal levies in times of war. These poorly trained and lightly equipped peasants were mostly drawn from the country-side of the realm and usually served as skirmishers or shock infantry. They were often armed with crossbows, or spears and armored with poor leather and cloth items, and seldom also with mail armor. Due to their lack of discipline and training, these troops are often used in spread formations and are sent to charge at the enemy mainly from the flanks.

"Pasnian peasants being levied into war"

    Heavy Infantry:

The Heavy Infantry were usually drafted from the Nobility class and soldiers of the regular standing army who could afford the expenses of mail/plate armor and heavy weapons. In battle, they are often used in tight formations to hold off the enemy charge and allow the more agile troops to surround the enemy from the flanks.

    Pasnian Winged Hussars:

The most prestigious and fearsome of units in the Pasnian Military were the Winged Hussars. Heavily armored cavalry troops, armed with lances and sabers the Winged Hussars served as the ideal shock troops of the Pasnian Army. The mixture of horse mobility and heavy armor made these Winged Hussars more than able to charge and penetrate through enemy lines, as they cast terror on their opponents.

    Religion:

Ever since they were converted to the Canonist Faith, the Pasnian people were known as God-fearing people, and held close relations with the Church of the Canon. Perhaps one of the greatest architectural displays in Pasnia was the formidable Cathedral of Kraków, which contained a grand library of books and gave host to hundreds of people who occasionally came to pray. In addition to that, the Pasnian Church has canonized several prominent figures in Pasnian history such as King Bolesław I the Victor for his victories against the pagan invaders, and King Staszak the Pious who converted to the faith of the Canon and found the Kingdom of Pasnia.

    Cuisine:

Prior to the “Bloody Wars” period, the cuisine for the common people was based on dishes made of agricultural produce and cereal crops (millet, rye, wheat), meats of wild and farm animals, fruits, forest berries and game, honey, herbs and local spices. A high calorific value of dishes and drinking beer or mead as a basic drink was typical of the Pasnian cuisine. In addition to that, there are several traditional foods and beverages that are consumed both daily and in holidays.

    Bigos:

Bigos is a traditional stew (Hunter's Stew) and is considered to be the national dish of Pasnia. Typically, Bigos includes sauerkraut, various meats and sausages, tomatoes, honey and mushrooms. For meats, you can have bacon, beef, pork, ham or veal. Bigos is considered a "perpetual stew" which means it can be kept in a pot for a week or more.

    Pierogi:

Pierogi are boiled dumplings stuffed with varying ingredients. After they are boiled, they are fried with butter and finely chopped onions. They can be filled with potato and cheese, mushrooms, and even fruit.

    Golabki:
Cabbage rolls wrapped around minced pork or beef meats, chopped onions and rice. They are usually baked with a spicy tomato sauce.

    Wódka(vodka):

Despite being a common Raevir beverage, the Wódka, or vodka also found its way to the Pasnian Cuisine.

    Traditions and Customs:

The people of Pasnia have a long and rich history of traditions and customs which have gathered through the years.

    Etiquette:

In the Pasnian Society, there is great stress on being polite and courteous, especially amongst nobility. Men are expected to kiss ladies' hands and to behave with decorum. An acceptable gift for women is an odd number of flowers, regardless of whether a woman is the recipient or presenter. Most men consider themselves judges of a fine drink, and for men the standard gift is alcohol. One must always drink from a glass, never directly from a bottle. When encountered with nobility, it is customary to bow and greet them with their title.

    Attire:

The Peasants usually wear clothes that are akin to the clothing of peasants of other Kingdoms, especially those of the Raevir nation. The attire of peasants is characterized with long robes, and leather boots. The women sometimes wear a scarf, along with a long dress. However, the Noblemen in Pasnian society have a rather unique clothing as described below.

    Kontusz:

The Kontsuz is a type of outer garment worn by the Pisnan male nobility(szlachta class). The kontusz was a long robe, usually reaching to below the knees, with a set of decorative buttons down the front. The sleeves were long and loose, on hot days worn untied, thrown on the back. In winter a fur lining could be attached to the kontusz, or a delia worn over it. The kontusz was usually of a vivid colour, and the lining was of a contrasting hue. The kontusz was tied with a long, wide sash called a pas kontuszowy. Throwing kontusz sleeves on one's back and stroking one's moustache was considered to be a signal of readiness for a fight.

    Dances and Folk Music:
Local ensembles use string instruments like violins and a cello to play a distinctive scale called the Lydian mode. The distinctive singing style used in this scale is called “lidyzowanie”. The lead violin (prym) are accompanied by several second violins (sekund) and a three-stringed cello (bazy). Duple-time dances like the krzesany, zbójnicki and ozwodna are popular within Pasnian culture. The ozwodna has a five bar melodic structure which is quite unusual. The krzesany is an extremely swift dance, while the zbójnicki is relatively slower. Folk songs typically focus on heroes in Pasnian and Raevir mythology.

Below there's an example of Pasnian folk music:

    Pasnian Wedding Ceremonial Customs:

The customs of a Pasnian wedding is riddled with culture and tradition, with every step necessary to complete in order for the union to be officially recognised by the Pasnite people. The wedding takes course throughout a single day but royal or noble weddings may take place for a longer period, otherwise it takes place from dawn until midnight. The ceremony takes place as follows; When the wedding starts, the first step is to greet the guests warmly, preferably by a hearth or small fire with drinks (Traditionally vodka mixed with Cranberries). Once the guests are greeted any gifts may be given as being a good host is paramount to any gift, as otherwise the couple would go undeserving of any gift. After the guests are greeted by they are then seated, the man is then separated from the woman to sit at opposite tables from the other. During the first feast the man wears traditional Pasnian clothing throughout, but the woman instead wears a simple dress to represent her innocence and maidenhood. The first feast then begins, usually with a speech and the food is served consisting of traditional Pasnian foods and drinks. After some time has passed dancing may commence, the bride may take part in the dancing but the man may not to show his  restraint and trust. During the first feast and dance the bride then leaves to change into new clothing, this being a dress which combines the banners of both Houses/families and represents the unity and sanctity between the respective families. This dress also represents the woman's coming of age and casting of her maiden attire to blossom into that of a full woman, recognized as such in Pasnian culture. After the pair has been wed, the second feast commences and the pair may now share a table together, this to symbolize that they will from that day forth dine together as husband and wife. The feast continues and a bedding is considered optional, the pair deciding on that factor. It then either stops due to everyone falling asleep or due to the families deciding to end it.

    Language:

The first recorded sources of the Pasnian language could be found near the era in which Pasnia converted to the Canonist Faith, probably due to the arrival of Canonist Missionaries who brought the literacy to Pasnia. The Pasnian people borrowed the Floxi alphabet to their language, to which they’ve added their own letters to pronounce certain sounds.

Below there is a list of common words and phrases in the Pasnian language:

  13. Belisarios would stand before the crowd of peasants in Nicea, mounted on his steed and accompanied by his personal bodyguards. He smirks at the cheering crowd as he waved his hand. As he sent his hand down, the crowd fell silent and Belisarios began to speak.

"Greetings, good people of Nicea! It is my honor to be amongst you today! Today is a day of fortune for our people - for I am glad to announce that the Tagma of Nicea has been reformed by our great Despot. Through his most divine judgment, our wise Despot decided to appoint me, Belisarios of Nicea to lead this Tagma into glory and prestige! And today, I call you - the people of Nicea, to answer the call of the Despotate, and join this great Tagma, for together we shall restore the fortune and glory of our mighty civilization!"

The cheerings of the crowd ever grew as Belisarios ceased to speak. Instead, Belisarios raised his hand again to wave at the crowd of peasants as a line began to form on the recruitment desk of the Tagma.

On his chest, he wears a silver chest plate of lamellar armor, with mail armor filling the gaps that plate does not cover. His helmet was crafted well and is able to withstand most thrusts and swings coming to his head. On his feet, he wears boots of brown leather which make him lighter and agile in the field.

  15. Out-Of-Character Information

Please do your best to correct spelling and grammatical errors, this is an RP server and writing is the main form of communication!

What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: Saarty1

How old are you?: Sixteen years old.

Are you aware the server is PG-13 (You won’t be denied for being under 13): Yes.

Have you applied to this server before? (Please link all past applications): Yes: https://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/129370-saarty1s-application/

Have you read and agreed to the rules?: Yes.

What’s the rule you agree with the most?: In combat rules, the rule that I agreed with the most is:

In order to engage in PvP you must have sufficient roleplay to do so, even if a player is running from ‘Halt!’ you may not PvP them. If the roleplay beforehand is major (e.g. a conflict) and they run from roleplay you may drop them but you must revive them.

I agree with the rule since I believe it already prevented many issues regarding PvP combat subject.

Are there any rule(s) that confuse you or don’t make sense?(If so we can help clear it up! You will not be denied for having a question on the rules): No, there aren't.

How did you find out about Lord of the Craft? I googled about Role-play servers in Minecraft and found this site: http://minecraft-mp.com/server-s55829(I voted for the server too!).

    Definitions

Feel free to Google the answers or browse our forums, but make sure that you write the reply in your own words, not those of another website or person!

What is roleplaying?: Role-playing is the act of playing a role as a character. When you are roleplaying you are essentially an actor, you're acting out the actions of your character you created. In Minecraft role-playing, you often need to express your character's actions by emotes which are performed by the commands of /me, /it, etc.

What is metagaming?: Metagaming stands for the use of "Out of Character" information while you're within "In Character". This act is forbidden in Role-playing since it creates unlogical situations where one side takes advantage of the other using information which they learned in an "Out of Character" enviornment such as the Community's Forums, Teamspeak, or anywhere else.

Example for metagaming: You've read a fact in the story of Character A in the forums(Which is an Out of Character place) while Character A did not tell your character this information and no other character who knows it did. Yet, your character says the information which you've read in the forums to Character A while your character didn't learn the information in any way.

    .

What is powergaming?: Powergaming means forcing your character's actions/emotes over other characters, making it an unfair situation for the forced environment. This act is forbidden in Role-playing since it the forced environment without even giving it a chance to resist or respond.

Example for powergaming: An archer releases an arrow towards an armored Warrior which holds a shield. After releasing the arrow, the Archer decides that the arrow hit one of the important organs of the Warrior's body(Such as the heart, neck, etc..), forcing the warrior to die without even giving him an opportunity to respond with a proper emote to protect himself from the arrow.

    In-Character Information

Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

    Character’s name: Dravor Yronwood.

    Character’s gender: Male.

    Character’s race: Heartlander Human.

Character’s age: Twenty four years old.

Biography (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add server lore, and events that happened to your character so that they don’t contradict history.):

Dravor was born in Petrus, The Reformed Kingdom of Oren for a successful merchant named Barret who immigrated to the City from the realm of Asulon.  When Dravor was an infant, his father was attacked by bandits outside of Petrus while escorting his imported supplies. Barret was killed during the attack. After Barret's sudden death, Dravor was left with his unemployed mother. A minor nobleman in Petrus named Davos Calney who was a close friend to Barret decided to adopt the infant Dravor and raise him along with his sons and daughters as a Protege. Davos Calney also provided Dravor's mother a job as a maid in his house in order to get her under his protection and let her raise her son Dravor.

As a child raising in House Calney, Dravor learned how to act like a nobleman. He was taught proper manners, and began his studies at class of the House's Scholar. Dravor loved his studies and found much interest in them; he was a quite quick learner and swiftly earned the respect of the House's Scholar. By the age of ten Dravor started his combat training, he was taught how to swing a sword and how to protect himself in a battle. Since his early combat trainings, Dravor had shown dedication and will to improve and become a fine swordsman in the years to come. Before going to sleep, Dravor's mother often used to tell him stories about her life with Dravor's father back in the realm of Asulon, about the former glorious realm of Aegis, about the bravery of the war heroes and champions against the invasions of the undead during the times of the realm of Aegis. Dravor loved listening to those stories and found them very inspiring. Since a young age, he was dreaming about leading an army and protecting the realm, he often dreamed about being in a General tent and making battle plans before leading his men into a great battle.

Obviously since Dravor was not a member of House Calney by blood, it took him a long while to earn respect from the members of the House. Although, he did develop a close friendly relationship with the sons of Davos Calney and often helped them with their studies at the Scholar's class, he also used to duel with them every time during their combat trainings. By the year of 1498 following the assassination of King Andrik Vydra, A War ensued between the Reformed Kingdom of Oren and the Silver Enclave of Haelun'or. Lord Davos Calney was sent to fight in the front. During one of the battles in the war Lord Davos Calney fell and died.  When Dravor learned about the event he was very shocked, the figure of the father he never had, died just like his real father.

As the years passed, Dravor kept improving in his combat trainings and kept aiming to become a great swordsman. By the age of seventeen Dravor finished his studies at the Scholar's class and by the age of eighteen he finished his combat trainings. At the age of eighteen, Dravor decided to restore his father's general goods business and become a Merchant. As a Merchant in Petrus, Dravor was quite successful. Yet, he still wanted to fulfil his childhood dream and become a military officer. After six years as a merchant, by the age of twenty four he decided to close his general goods business in order to fulfil his childhood dream and his ambitions.

Note: My character is not a nobleman, nor I can invent minor noble houses. I'm aware that in the server my character will start as a simple commoner and will have to work his way to the top. I merely wrote this backstory to show a proper understanding of the server's lore.

Personality Traits: Friendly, Brave, Intelligent, Polite, Charismatic, Determined and Somewhat Arrogant.

Ambitions: To become influential and powerful, Dravor wants to lead an army to the causes he believes in.

Strengths/Talents: Trained Swordsman, Good at Military Tactics and Strategy, Well educated, Strong Leadership.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: Weak at Archery, Somewhat Arrogant, sometimes easily offended and sometimes very stubborn too.

Appearance (List the extra details of your characters appearance, IE; height & weight):

A relatively tall man who stands around at six foot, he seems to be quite athletic and in good shape. He has a short brown hair and blue eyes. He's often seen wearing his leather armor, along with his polished dark boots. The man seems to look fairly young, around his middle twenties. He often smiles a lot and seems to be friendly.
