    Halfling FAQ

    What is a Halfling?

    - A Halfing is a humanoid race consisting of human and dwarf traits.

What is the age a Halfling reaches maturity?

    - A Halfling reaches the age of maturity when they are 33 years old.

What is the lifespan of a Halfling?

    - The lifespan of a Halfling is around the age of 150 years old.

What is a Halflings physical appearance?

    - Halflings are unique when it comes to their stature. The height of a Halfling varies from 2'4" - 3'0" ft. high and weigh 30 - 100 lbs. Halflings are not known for their combat skills due to this size, coupled with their lack of burliness. Unlike dwarves, who are short and stout, this race is short and less built. It is not uncommon to see an obese halfling, though, for they do love food and lazing about.

The Little Folk are famous for their hardy feet. It is a well-known fact that they avoid wearing shoes. Doing so is quite uncomfortable, as they have much thicker and more leathery feet than humans. This extra layer of skin can withstand thorns and sharp rocks. The foot of a male halfling has a curious amount of hair, that spreads over its top. Little is known why they have so much foot hair, but the halflings do not seem to question it. Their feet, in proportion to the rest of their body, are quite large.

The hair of halflings is often curly, or wavy, and almost never straight. It tends to range from blonde to dark brown, and on rare occasions, black. Black hair is rarely seen, and brown seems to be the color in most abundance.

Halflings' eyes are also quite a curious spectacle. Ranging from brown to green, to blue, with the addition of less common colors, such as violet. The most intriguing eye color is, well, in fact, a mixture of two different colors. The condition "Heterochromia iridium" is common in halflings. This means that both eyes are different colors. It is seen more often in female halflings than in male halflings, for reasons unknown. (Source: LoTC Wiki)

    So who is Knox?

    - In older times many Halflings believed in the Pumpkin Lord, a magical being that appears before them. He resembles a man with a pumpkin for a head and throughout history has appeared to come the Halflings in times of need. Unbeknownst to the Halflings, they had been worshipping the arrival of Knox, a deranged murderer. Many Halflings did not worship frequently, although many held The Pumpkin Lord in high regard building shrines in dedication to him. (Source: LoTC Wiki)

    - The story of Knox began way back in Asulon when a Halfling built a secret shrine where a pumpkin sat on a throne called 'The Lord Of The Pumpkins.' Which Halflings started to pretend to worship as a joke to scare the bigguns. A few months later a character who wore a pumpkin head by the name of Knox, who had known nothing about The Lord Of The Pumpkins made an appearance in the village. A recent account of the events has followed where Knox became the prophet of the Halflings. During this time, a Halfling by the name of Tibb found the body of Knox, some Halflings believed it was their god while others did not. Then, an Elf attacked the body of Knox which caused outrage among the Halflings, the disbelievers then shouted, "If you are a God, show us!" At this point, lightning struck in-game which caused the Halflings to believe him as the true God of the Halflings. (Source: Dalek348)

    What is a "biggun"?

    - A biggun is a Halfling term used to describe any race that is not a Halfling. So Human, Orc, Dwarves, Elves, Etc.

    What is a "munchkin"?

    - A derogatory slur used by Halflings to categorize an improper Halfling.

What is a Proper and Improper Halfling?

    - A Proper Halfling is Wee Folk who follows the traditions of the Halfling race. An Improper Halfling is someone who does not follow the tradition.

What are the traditions of the Halflings?

    - Currently, there are a plethora of traditions that we follow as a Halfling in Dunshire. Currently, these include things like not wearing shoes or not using swords and bows. There is much more information about the laws and traditions on becoming a proper Halfling in this thread below:

    Can Halflings 'learn' magic?

    - Yes, Halfling can learn any type of magic, however, a majority of magic under Halfling tradition is considered improper. Currently, the most accepted kinds of magic in Halfling culture are Druid Magic, Golemancy and Shaminism.

    What is the Bernardist Party?

    - The Bernardist Party was created by a Halfling called Bernard which became the main political party for Dunshire during the Global Assembly - it has been disbanded.

    Halfling Q&A

Have a question about being a Halfling? Then ask below!

What would you consider to be the most important things to ever happen to Dunshire? (NotEvilAtAll)

    -  Dunshire "going to war."

  3. 9a554c63b59daed209495cbe6b5a70ea.png

Silence. A word that speaks in such volumes yet ironically has nothing to speak for. In the realm of Atlas, silence is one of the few things that Angelica Woodstock enjoyed in Dunshire. Silence was something that reminded most people in Atlas of peace. From the tyrants of the humans to the Elves of the Dominion to the rowdy in Kaz'Ulrah and to the war-hungry nation of Krugmar - it just seemed that chaos at this point was inevitable in the realm of Atlas even when Angelica did not believe that. Yet, why do bigguns like chaos? Do they enjoy the crackling sounds of homes being burned down? Or maybe they seem to enjoy the screams and the begging of the innocent? Or maybe they like the sounds of a crying mother knowing that she lost her child... A child she loved so much yet was lost over something so little. Yet at the end of all the pillaging, screaming, agony, terror, triumph, hatred, and pride - it all ends with silence...

In a silent night; 5th of The Grand Harvest, 1678. Angelica Woodstock continues to count the votes from inside the Sheriff's Burrow. "fif'y two, fif'y t'ree," whispered the Halfling, her lips planted gently around her wooden pipe as counting through this election which felt like hours. It felt weird for the young Sheriff. As Angelica continued through the horribleness of counting, Knox bless her... She began to think about her tenure as Sheriff. The stories they will tell of this young female halfling. She heard of times when she fought an orc and was triumph, times of when she defeated the hatful bigguns from raiding Dunshire with just a spade or when she defeated a hungry Kha! Although Angelica should feel proud of these stories filling the shire about her heroine - those stories never existed, it was actually the opposite. Angelica was a coward if she liked it or not. Even if the Halflings would speak of her amazing courage she would always remain silent.

Yet why doesn't she speak up about these stories? Why doesn't she just tell the Wee Folk the truth about who she truly was as a Sheriff? The times of her running away from danger as the raiders would slaughter her own or the times of a hungry Kha eating a poor Wee Folk. She hated hearing the sounds of a screaming halfling begging for their life or when she spoke to a mother or child about losing someone they loved, maybe it was her fault for the death of Madeline Applefoot. Even through the horrors of her tenure in this tale, Angelica still remained silent.

    Ironic isn't it?

As the sun began to slowly rise, Angelica got up from her chair. She could hear murmuring from outside the burrow. Taking off her badge, Angelica placed it down on the table and began to waddle over to Deputy's office where Larry Hill use to work. As she was about to place down the silver badge before she thought about the final words that Larry told her before rampaging off... She didn't want to admit it even after just thinking about those stories, but, she was the death of her own people. She wasn't like the heroes she heard stories of when she was a child like Petyr, Knox or even Larry Shortoak. Maybe Angelica was wrong - maybe chaos was inevitable in the realm of Atlas...

Getting out of the Sheriff burrow, a large crowd would circle around the false-Sheriff before screaming at the top of her lungs...

    "Dah resul's 'er in!"

    Sheriff

    - Lirro Dockingrock: 294

    - Hearth James Underson: 736

    - Maya Noirette: 502

    Deputy

    - Walliams Carrothead: 206

    - Halbeck: 471

    - Lirro Dockingrock: 349

    - Soliel Tristonia: 542

As the Halflings cheered with joy and the shire congratulated the two, Angelica felt different from the rest. Looking at the now empty spot on the top right of her shirt it felt as though that badge meant more to Angelica than she thought. It was like a part of her life was just beginning now in a strange way. Yet after all the laughter, glee, excitement, hunger, partying, and happiness - it all ends with silence...

((I would like to thank the attendees for participating in the Fourth Dunshire Election - though most importantly, I would like to thank the Wee Folk who voted in this election. Without you, none of this would have been possible.

A crowd Weefolk appears to be outside the Sheriff Burrow. Sheriff Angelica Woodstock comes out of the Burrow with a wide grin on her face. Handing out small sheets of paper, Angelica would look at the Halfling race as she'd grab her own piece of paper and place it into the pumpkin ballot box.

Another year means another election! It is time for us as Halflings to pick the right candidates that you believe will protect the shire. So without further ado, I wish all participants good luck and may Knox bless this Fourth election.
