By Royal decree of His Grace, King Andrik Vydra, of the Kingdom of Oren, and his Privy Council, the Sloppy Joe Doctrine has been passed into full effect. From this day forward, the following is decreed:

• The immediate declaration of protection over the lands to the north of the Ebunad River from foreign excursion, colonization or influence. 

• 

• The stripping of rank, title and province of the up-jumped, self made lords of the north. Those who have, in times of anarchy of war, created their own self proclaimed kingdoms, knights, and nobles. These so called “Nord Lords” are formally dismissed, and called back to the true Kingdom of Man.

Several Months Ago...

“So, we have come to an agreement?” King Vydra asked, his voice echoing throughout the dimly lit Cloud Temple library. He was flanked by loyal allies and vassals of Akovia, who stood tall and proud in front of their opponents. All that could be heard, for several moments, was the crackling of the torches as the haggard leaders of Urguan, Krugmar, and the remaining Aesterwaldian loyalists spoke quietly amongst themselves. Off to the side, Godfrey III stood, his head bowed as he listened.

“Aye, we ‘ave.”

“Yub.”

“Aye…” The leaders said, in turn.

“Then, we shall have peace.”

Andrik Vydra, King of the newly reformed Kingdom of Oren, stood from his chair, and briskly walked from the room, flanked by his royal retinue. Cheering broke out amongst those brave men of Akovia as they exited the Cloud Temple. Banners of Oren, of Saint Amyas, House Vladov and Vanir, House Montfort, and the various Regiments of the Orenai Legion, flew gracefully in the air, the sun serving to enhance the vibrant display.

The legions of Oren came to a halt outside Petrus several weeks later, the various Lords following their King across the drawbridge and into the city. The party did not stop until they reached the steps that lead up to the mighty Keep of Petrus. Andrik stopped several stairs higher than his men, and turned to face the massive crowd that had assembled, confused as to why a man who was once deemed their enemy, was now standing at the base of the Keep entrance, unharassed. Andrik took a few deep breaths, before speaking:

“Citizens of Petrus. My fellow humans. As you are all surely aware, our world has been ravaged by War for the past few years. A tragedy that started when greedy ‘Storm Kings’ and Waldians lusted for power, and would stop at nothing to see the demise and separation of Humanity. Ever since the fall of the Last Carrion Vochna, Humanity has been scattered; a weak, pitiful thing. I stand here, today, to tell you that this is no more.”

A small smile creeps upon his face as he looks out on the crowd, a crowd filled with Heartlanders, former Waldians, a few Raevirs, and various other minorities. “Those men who would have had you fight tooth and nail against your kin, are gone. The false nations of Aesterwald and Renatus have fallen, leaving their people hungry and without guidance. The Rovins of Aesterwald saw that they were on the verge of defeat, and instead of seeing to it that they lost honourably, they did the cowardly thing. They left their people to die.”

A murmur of whispers ran through the crowd, excitement growing. Andrik waited for silence again, before continuing.

“Now, however, begins a new Era. A new age for Humanity.” He raises his hand up for all to see, a parchment clutched in his fingers. “I, Andrik Vydra, First of his Name, declare that I have brought peace to the realm of man! The lands originally claimed and settled by Humanity upon the discovery of Athera have been joined together once more! This magnificent city that you call home, is where I shall rule the new Kingdom of Oren! I shall ensure that your lives, and the lives of everyone under my rule, change for the better!” Andrik was taken aback by the jubilance of the crowd, the deafening cheering and clapping so loud and contagious, that even the Legions outside of Petrus joined in, weapons sheathed as they hugged their comrades. Above all of them, Andrik Vydra stood, a smile on his face. Things were going to be changing for the better.

Reaffirmation of Loyalty

Following the victory against the Zionist forces, and the reunion of the various Human factions, the time has come for all Nobles, Knights, and Men-at-arms to reaffirm their loyalty to the Crown, and to the House of Vydra. Open court shall be held next month where pledges of Loyalty may be given. 

Anyone, peasent or nobility is free to attend the open court, where King Andrik will listen to any petitions, claims, or concerns.

The Human Reunification Act

Thanks to the valiant efforts of the Canonist Forces against the Mardonic, Aesterwaldian, Elvish, Orcish and Dwarvish armies, their attempted incursions into the De Jure lands of Humanity have been squashed, under the leadership of King Andrik Vydra. The grand city of Petrus has been reclaimed by Akovia and her allies, bringing about a new age of peace and prosperity for Humanity. Following the fall of the warmongering Kingdom of Aesterwald, the time has come for Humanity to be joined in peace once more; the first steps to a stronger Humanity have been laid out in the following declarations:

Issued and Confirmed by his Majesty King Andrik Vydra of Oren, on the 8th of the Amber Cold, 1491.

• The Kingdom of Akovia shall be formally be renamed to the Kingdom of Oren

• The Duchies Akovia, Savoy, the March of Adria, the County of Werdenberg, and the County of Dragonspeak will unite under the leadership of King Andrik Vydra, in order to form a single, stable, and strong Human Kingdom

• Hostilities shall cease between the Reformed Kingdom of Oren and the Grand Kingdom of Urguan as well as the Orcish Horde

• Godfrey Horen is to be put on trial for his crimes against humanity

• The members of House Rovin, excluding Otto Rovin, are to be arrested and brought to Petrus where they will be put on trial for their crimes.

• The remaining lords of the Former Kingdom of Aesterwald are ordered to completely dismiss all standing military forces, and travel to Petrus to bend the knee to King Vydra. Those who do not shall remain in an open state of  war with the new Kingdom of Oren.

• The citizens of Vanderfell are offered refuge in the city of Petrus, where they will be offered housing and supplies for a fair price

About the 2nd Akovian Regiment

The 2nd Akovian Regiment serves as the main military retinue under King Vydra, and plays a vital role in domestic and foreign affairs. Making up one of three regiments in the Orenai Legion , its goals are to protect the Kingdom of Oren, its People and followers, and in times of war fight against and obliterate the Kingdom's adversaries. The Akovian Regiment is also tasked with maintaining the peace throughout the entirety of the Kingdom, providing humanitarian aid during catastrophes or other other aid-requiring scenarios.

Wartime Conscription

The purpose of this is to ensure that the 2nd Akovian Regiment stays well-manned in times of war. Each House in the Duchy of Akovia will be asked to send at least one able-bodied male to bolster the ranks of the Regiment. Able-bodied men living in the city of Karovia or Petrus can be expected to drafted upon declarations of war. Out of times of war, the men of the Akovian Regiment are free to return to their former lives of farming, smithing, or whatever they were up to before hand. 

Tenets of the 2nd Akovian Regiment

1. You shall hold no other allegiance, and be pure to your oath. Be not corruptible.

2. Be calm, strong, polite and resolute. Show valour in the field, and chivalry at home.

3. Never surrender yourself nor your brothers; bring your honor, or death.

5. Triumph through discipline. Submit to this law - First my orders, then myself.

6. Grasp the purpose of each duty, so you may one day take up the torch of leadership.

7. Against an honorable foe, fight with chivalry, but to the dishonorable, extend no quarter.

8. Keep true to your people. Offer your life in place of the theirs

9. Be strong, true, and loyal to the King and the Orenai Legion. You shall be the warrior incarnate of the Kingdom and her allies.

(Short Bio: Andrik Vydra, the current King of Akovia and patriarch of House Vydra, of the ancient line of stone kings, reigns supreme in his lands both as Monarch and Commander in Chief. An intense man with a stern outlook on war and governing both, he is intent to see his noble cause through, regardless of what stands in his way. A loyal canonist, he readily marches against enemies of both Mother Church, and his people.

The Commander-in-Chief is the supreme leader of the regiment, he is also the leader of the Nation, he has the authority to command everyone underneath him as Monarch.

(Short Bio:The Patriarch of House Vanir, one of Oren’s ruling families, Vasili Vanir was chosen by King Andrik for his outstanding loyalty, prowess in combat and strategic mind. The Lord Chancellor of the Realm, Vasili is responsible for the well being and effectiveness of the 2nd Regiment.

None but the Commander can give the orders to the Captain(s). He in return has the ability to give orders to his subordinates. It takes special recognition from the head of state to achieve this rank. The Captain is in charge of overall organization of the Regiment, gives directives to the Sergeants below him,

Lieutenant

Title Holder(s): Publius Bracchus

The Lieutenant is selected upon agreement of the Commander and the Captain. The Lieutenant is in charge of 1-3 Squadrons, and may take up a leadership role in major conflicts when the Captain is absent or unable to lead. They are tasked with supplying Sergeants with any equipment that may be needed for the Lances and, like the Sergeant, they are also responsible for recruiting men. They may petition the Captain or the Captain’s Aid-de-Camp for the acquisition of materials for the Regiment.

Sergeant:

Hand picked by the Captains and recommended by the Lieutenant, Sergeants are subordinates to the Captains and Lieutenants both. Sergeants function as petty officers who are, essentially, constables in times of peace. More importantly, a Sergeants job is basically that of a master-at-arms. They train men, they recruit men, and they outfit men. The Head of State can also give personal orders to the Sergeants. Sergeants are often in charge of squadrons of men, and are tasked with training said squadron and ensuring that they are fit for combat. Sergeants are men who have proven their worth time and time again to either the Captain or the Commander, and have shown their ability to lead in combat scenarios.

Man At Arms:

Men At Arms are full-blown members of the Akovian Regiment. They have proved themselves in combat and have passed their tests. Men At Arms make up the brunt of the Akovian Regiment, and are often divided into Lances, commanded by a Sergeant.

Draftee:

Draftee (“Tenderfoot”): The Draftee, or “Tenderfoot” as they are often referred to by the Men at Arms, are members of the Regiment who have just recently joined or been drafted. They have yet to prove themselves and therefore are not yet a full-blown member of the Regiment. They are called Tenderfoots due to the fact that their “Tender Feet” have not yet been hardened by the upcoming marching and drilling sessions.

Specialty Ranks

Chaplain

Members of the clergy who have been assigned to either a Lance, Company or Regiment, Chaplains provide religious services before and after major battles. In some cases, Chaplains function as medicos alongside the Barbers.

Barber

The Barbers make up the medico branch of the 2nd Regiment. Trained both in medicine and hygiene, they mend the bodies and spirits of the injured soldiers. Barbers often work alongside the aide-de-camp in the breaking and making of camps during siege.

Aide-De-Camp

The personal advisor and second in command of the Captain, Aide-De-Camp’s handle everyday issues and the material management of each regiment.

Lances and Companies

A Lance is a group of 7 or less men, led by a Sergeant or Lieutenant: one officer, six enlisted men. The men of a Lance train together, eat together, pray together, and most importantly, fight together. The number of people in a Lance may be changed at a Captain’s discretion. The Sergeant or Lieutenant of the Lance is responsible for ensuring that all members get along.

A Company is made up of 2-3 Lances, and are under the command of a Captain. The Captain and his Aid-de-Camp are in charge of general organization of the Company and organization of Company-wide events and training sessions. The Captain may give individual Lances certain tasks to complete, say if the mission requires lower numbers. In most cases, however, the Company will be given the same general goal.

Posters and pamphlets are spread throughout the realm and surrounding areas of Akovia. If you were to read one, it would read:

King Andrik has called for a census of the Akovian population. All need to report back to Karovia as soon as possible or risk revocation of their housing and all belongings. The good king is giving up to one saints week until he declares the homes abandoned and their resources deemed those of the state.

With the sands of time and lure of power having tainted the mind of His Grace, King Varon Kovachev, and left his people without true leadership, the Privy Council of the Kingdom of Akovia has passed the Edict of Regency.

The Edict of Regency

Issued and confirmed by Vasili Vanir, Lord Regent of the Kingdom of Akovia, and his Privy Council, on the 11th of Malin's Welcome, 1488

• Varon Kovachev is formally stripped of his title and office of King, to be held before a privy court to answer for his crimes against the kingdom.

• Until the time a ruling House or individual leader is chosen to govern the Kingdom of Akovia, Vasili of House Vanir shall rule the Akovian People.

• The Privy formerly under Varon Kovachev shall be reformed under Lord Regent Vanir.

The Akovian People are assured of their security in these trying times, and are applauded by their government for their stoicism in the face of adversity.

The Kingdom of Akovia and her people are happy to hear that their friends have banded together in a world that is filled with so much strife and danger.

Karovia, Capital of the Kingdom of Akovia

The town of Karovia was originally settled upon the ruins of a long-forgotten Kingdom by the former Emporer, Aleksandr Carrion. For nearly a decade, the town had crumbled into ruin and disrepair. However, under the watchful eyes of the Kingdom of Akovia and the leadership of House Vanir, the once great town has been rebuilt even bigger and better than it once was before!

Although currently filled with many refugees from the fallen Oren Empire, Karovia maintains a strong diversity, varying from the Sea-faring Vanirs and Raevirs, to Heartlanders and Elves alike. The town of Karovia is open to all those with peace in their heart, and stands tall as a bastion of hope and prosperity, towering over the run-down and poor settlements across Athera. Whether you are a farmer or fighter, or a baker or builder, Karovia can be a home for you!
