Yes. More crude weapons for sure like sparking a flint on the gun to shoot it and the possibility of it not working. If this ends up being the case then bullet proof vests or some type of armor that reduces the damage of a bullet should be added as well. This could bring a bunch of new roleplay and events. IRL firearms were made around the 14th century so it isn’t too modern either. Gun stores and how guns are manufactured and bought would be an interesting thing to tackle as well, permits and all that.

Bulletproof vests? You know, the invention from the 1960s? If guns are added, then they are most likely to be primitive, or at most muskets. Don’t think we’re at the level of bulletproof vests (Nor do I want us to be) mate.

I don’t think they should. If you have a pre-loaded flintlock, even against a ready opponent, it would feasibly take one emote to draw and shoot, and being highly lethal. I saw something about Crossbows are already in, why not musket? But the thing with firearms is that they are concealable, faster projectile speed, and can deal more with armor because of their higher speed and lower surface area. They just seem to be OP, like why would anyone learn, say, evoc magic for combat when that takes multiple emotes, when you could just draw a gun and shoot, killing most people and certainly incapacitating nearly everything you draw on. I’d even think it could lead to less sword type RP, as it would just make more sense to use, train, and carry the superior weapon, effectively changing the general feel of RP on the server.

I believe they have made it against the rules to have a pre-loaded firearm in the lore proposal, but cannot verify this. I too am worried about the concern brought out in the last sentence you’ve made, but I am sure someone who is pro guns on the server would argue that the guns aren’t that op since you can’t preload them yada yada so this wouldn’t be the case. I think it would have to be seen out in practice, as speculation can only go so far, however practice may still lead to that permanent change in rp if they are too op, which would still hurt the feel of the server.

I hope this indecisive paragraph did something lmao

pick whatever century of the medieval era you like, and explain how literally any nation/culture/group in LOTC are like it at all. only humans were ever vaguely medieval, and they haven’t been for a long ass time.

As I said, it’s down to preference, which is built from perception and experience. My perspective and experiences on LOTC have provided a relatively early medieval lotr fantasy vibe, which I enjoy, and as such, it is my preference for a ‘lotr early medieval fantasy’ feel. That is my personal opinion, and I understand it is not shared by others, but I think it’s fair to let people express their opinions on this topic, as this is the objective of the post after all.

All of you need to grab google and start reading on what constitutes an actual Medieval Fantasy, why Fantasy as a genre has medieval aesthetics as a staple, how many mainstream fantasy role-play systems include firearms, and when firearms were first introduced in the west altogether.

Gunpowder Artillery is a medieval technology. It was introduced in the 13th century in Europe in the form of siege cannons and hand-held cannons, and later matchlock rifles. The middle ages ended in the mid to late 15th century. It is perfectly consistent with a “Medieval Vibe”. What you are all trying to argue is that you don’t personally want guns in the setting because you don’t like them and because you prefer an earlier medieval aesthetic (reminder that the Middle Ages lasted 10 centuries), and there’s nothing wrong with that. But please, stop perpetuating this ludicrous notion that firearms break the themes of the server simply because you are incognizant about the genre and tropes intrinsic to it, or choose to ignore the reality that they are compatible with the Medieval themes, even if they were only a part of it towards the end in our world’s history.

Sorry let me correct myself... the medievalish fantasy lotr vibe*. And how did you know that I did not refer to an earlier period in the 10 centures of the medieval period when I said medievalish vibe? At the end of the day, its down to preference to what part of medieval fantasy you enjoy rping, and I respect that. There’s no need to call me incognizant simply because I was less than imaculate with detail in my post, I just had a lot to do so I couldn’t write a lot.

Hadvar reads the missive, throwing the remains into the dirt. He shakes his head with a sigh, “This is not the child of Ser Stefan, this is a traitor and was never strong enough to be an Onfroi. Good riddance.” He says as he returns to his bedstead, still incredibly ill. Looking up to his friends, his guards, and the other members of the Onfroi family he states, “I will return, and they will pay.” As he falls asleep, dreaming of the Battle of Adria ((24vs37)).

She isn’t English speaking, or at least English isn’t her primary language, so she struggles to explain or understand people when they are being incredibly toxic and pushing. She said to me she was, “forced” to consent to this and that she had a panic attack because of the constant pressure people gave her. You all took advantage of an inexperienced player and it is completely disgusting. Be ashamed of yourselves.))

((Witnessing the whole event, I obviously noticed the player was slightly inexperienced, but I assumed they understood the situation seeing as they continued to RP fittingly. Additionally, she did not seem upset by the RP nor display any significant signs of being in distress that I can remember. As such, it was incredibly easy to just believe it was normal RP. To be honest, I didn’t really find the encounter that interesting or fun, seeing as these types of encounters never bring anything new into the fray, and frankly just portray those involved as itching to execute somebody. If she was truly distressed, I would like to apologize on behalf of everyone involved as I’m sure none of them realized this.))

Original Race [n/a if not applicable]: n/a

    Transformed Form: Golem

Creator [mc name and ic name, n/a if not applicable]: IC name: Dagor Othacast (that was the clan he was in, dk what clan he is in now)

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

A golem is... well, a stone body with immense strength that follows its 'impera' and has a core that functions as both its soul and source of mana energy. They have appeared throughout history whether fighting for the dwarves and the other descendants against the undead/other enemies or fighting against them under the command of the undead and other enemies. They can go on rampages and destroy everything in their path or just live their lives as peaceful statues. They can be body guards or be used for other violent tasks but they will always take their orders literally. Golems are very strong creatures as they are known for their powerful attacks so therefore they were used for a lot of violent tasks in the past and still now.

Golems do not have emotions which is part of the reason why they are so strong (they feel no pain). They are also... well not stupid or dumbfounded but they do have to think about their words before they speak. Golems will do anything that their impera tells them to do and their impera is the person who created them or was given command of them. They do not hesitate on their orders unless they are ordered to do an action that they specifically have a weakness towards. They will protect their imperas at all costs and will do anything to save them from danger.

To craft a golem you need to be an experienced golemancer which is someone who is a runemaster and experienced with golems along with the art of golemancy. For a golem to stay alive the golemancer/someone must bound their soul to its core so that it has enough energy to stay standing. Depending on the materials, time, effort and strength used to create a golem will determine its strength. Once a golem is created (which takes 4-5 hours or more) the golemancer/impera will teach it how to speak and do various tasks as at the start it is incapable of doing anything.

There are two types of golems; thanhium golems (which use a thanhium core to produce mana energy) and soulbound golems (which uses the soul of a once living person to fuel the core of the golem). Soulbound golems most often retain the memories of the person who soul belonged too but they still are unable to resist the desire to serve their imperas. Golems are always made out of earthly materials such as stone and clay because obsidian is too heavy and the core of the golem cannot animate metals such as iron. The standard height for fully functional golems is around 8ft after exceeding which golems tend to suffer from random loss of limbs to due the strain placed upon the core of the construct. Same concept applies to the use of more than 4 limbs.

Here are some commands that an impera can use to command their golem:

Dor Lowa- this will send the construct into a catatonic, sleep-like state.

     Dor Higha-reverses Dor Lowa.

Dor Impera-this will drive the golem to single-mindedly and obsessively pursue the Impera’s next command.

Dor Naxta-this will command the golem to change its Impera to the name next spoken after the command.

Stroking his beard thoroughly, Horsa would listen to his to the advice of his councillors on the plans of the village. Finally the meeting would end and ale would be brought to the table for the participants of the meeting to scoff down their dry mouths.

“Lads, we have done us well this day. I feel if we carry on in such ambitiousness and the gods on  our side, we shall rule these lands. To Saxony!” cheered Horsa.

“To Saxony!” the rest of the council would respond.

Soon they would return to their homes for a good night’s sleep, for sleep and good rest would be required for the next day’s preparations. Chieftain Horsa would have to be smart and wise to plan his next steps wisely, for the good of the village; for the good of Saxony.

A smile would form on Horsa's face as his town thrives and his population has a great surplus. Clearly the gods had favored his people for their worship to them, and his pride increased massively. Still, he couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead for his people and what great obstacles should bar his way to prosperity. He knew only one thing; through perseverance, intelligence and hard work, his tribe would succeed.

A roar of laughter would emerge from the great hall of Chieftain Horsa's home, as Horsa and his advisers would be telling of great tales while drinking magnificently brewed ale. They had gathered in celebration of their newly established village in Britannia and all would have mighty proud looks on their faces as they enjoyed their festivities. Indeed the whole town would be celebrating one way or another as great opportunities  seemed to be just around the corner. The next day, Horsa and his advisers would gather again in that same hall to discuss  plans for the village. Firstly, lumberjacks accompanied by some of the militial warband would be sent out to gather wood from the surrounding forests and to make sure they replanted the trees they cut down. Secondly, the farms would be ordered to be put to full use for a good harvest and a market would begin its construction.

A smart, jolly, active, and fearsome young lad Horsa was and he would rule his village to prosperous opportunities with his advisors, Hengist, his wife, and his body guard and good friend Axlgrand at his side who had sworn to a vow of silence. 14. The Kingdom of Progressionia

King Hadok would send loyal men to set fishing weirs down the coast and not to stray for too long so as to not be killed by the cold. Same would be said for the lumberjacks he would order to send out into the forests, so that the town would be able to gain would for the future. It would seem the King would be very depressed, or just in deep thought nowadays. Perhaps it was that his speech failed and now war would break out within his Kingdom over petty religious disputes. He knew they were all doomed, it was just a matter of time until the Picts finished them all off.
