I was searching for roleplay servers, and ended up finding the official channel on youtube.

What is roleplaying?: Placing yourself in the shoes of your very own character.
What is metagaming?: Using OOC knowledge as an advantage during roleplay.
What is powergaming?: This sure is a hard one! Not giving other players any choice. It's hard to explain, so I'll throw in a few examples.

Instead of:

Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

"West! No no.. South-East! Or was it North-East?" I said to myself, still completely hammered from the day before.
I gripped onto the worn map as I scratched my head. Lasting back to my humble little shack, a few miles from the ocean great blue ocean.
It was an early morning, who knows how long ago? A fishing boat decided to dock at the shoreline close to me, and my lovely, beautiful home. Foreigners, they were! Couldn't understand a single word of what I spat at em' . Nevertheless, they looked like some nice chaps, and that they were! 10 bottles of ale later, and a bit of sailing across the seas, here I am! Woke up under an oak tree with this map in my left hand'. In my drunken state, I started dragging myself towards the closest village, whilst tripping occasionally.
When I got back to Petrus, I saught out something I could always put my trust in. The comfort of a warm bed. I scraped up what little I had left, and headed for the local inn, where I was met with a smiling bartender, and a glass of fresh milk. I paid the man, and walked upstairs, where I instantly fell asleep.
I dreamt of my mother's stories. There were so many of them, I can barely remember. Most of them revolved around Godfrey the great. But Thorin Grandaxe came in as a close number two! She really admired him. Wether the fall of the Oren empire was his fault or not, she loved the way he ruled with an iron fist! What's it matter anyways? They're both long gone.
I'm nowhere near as politically involved as she was. All these political figures just mess with my mind! But this knowledge is a must! I will have to look into it later on.
I always thought she was going to become a bard, with that beautiful voice of hers.

But them being lumberjacks wasn't too bad. We always sold an excessive amount of logs during the great hunt. Also, during Nature's boon! Hah! Can you believe how ironic that is? Celebrating the growth of nature whilst lighting a bunch of logs on fire!
Thomas is a 30 year old male born and raised in a small hut near the city of Petrus.
After King Andrik Vydra was killed, his parents and himself decided to move into the woods
But now that King Olivier de Savoie sits on the throne, he's decided to move out and try to live out his dream. (Starting an inn)
His mother died of old age, as did his father. Damn Iblees and his curses!
As you might be able to tell, he isn't much of a navigator. He loves good food and drinks, perhaps a bit too much. His passion for the life of luxury is neverending, as is his hunger. He wears a brown hat, a pair of harness pants, and a white shirt beneath it all.
I plan on making him an innkeeper, and just relaxing, talking to travelers and listening to their stories.
